Shouldn't I get a wounded in action medal for a cheat code sticker on one of my games. (wishes that could be deleted)

problem 1: the relations degrading due to military strength needs tweaking I don't get this one. I had the Drengin as wary and crash built some fleets that doubled their strength and the almost immedaitely went to neutral. They only failed to come around when near end game we were the only two left. T

A very good guide but I differ on a few points. I detest moral problems so I alway chose populist and the highest moral and econ electives. In the recent betas I have found that you can use some of the food bonus squares on high PQ planets, especially if you have high moral bonuses. I used to build econ capital on earth and it is still a good choice but I now build it on my highest PQ planet with the highest potential population.

I think the only way you can break an alliance is to refuse to assist them if they are attacked or fire on them. I could be wrong, I am an isolationist and I never ally except to take a diplomatic victory hwn they are all close.

All good ideas... 1. Especially for large maps. I usually play small maps so it wouldn't be that important for me but for the occasional huge/gigantic map game it would be a great feature. 4. I have posted this several times but I have since learned to use the starbase detail screen and scroll through to see what needs what. Not as good as what you suggest but it will suffice since the change you and I suggest doesn't have a lot o

Well, I had one flagged tonight, the first time I played a custom. It was a bit upsetting I went to my docs and deleted all the custom races and redid them. Played another game and it was not flagged

Here is a very tiny "bug" that may or may not effect anyone but me. When I switched to playing in a window (full resolution) I started having mouse focus problems. I would have to move the mouse around to find the click point. Zooming in made it easier in the main screen but there are other screens that can't be zoomed and hitting the click point was almost impossible and very annoying sometimes. Anyway I switched back to full scr

It is my experience with AI that if you don't take advantage of your human edge the computer will getcha in the long haul. AI= easy to beat if you can stay ahead but if you let them stay on par, you will need great tactics to win the end game.

I didn't see the issue of incorrect build time in the planet screen adressed. It will show never or too many turns and will correct itself if you leave and reenter the screen. Not a big issue but still a bug.

The cost of going neutral. I usually make a few evil choices (especially when it involves bugs or worms) but I have never had to pay more than low five figures for neutral and usually good is available for something similar but somewhat higher. In one game when I had made more evil choices than normal the cost of good was over 400,000 bc so you can price yourself out of the market for some ethics choices

Always go for the planets. In 1.1 cut back on colony ship population to grab the planets without depleting your builder planets. Assuming you are playing a large + map after you have 20-25 planets start building improvements and let your population grow for awhile then go for engine tech and life support and start another rush. If you can get control of about 20% of the map you should have a power base that will allow you to win

Same thing happened to me but with less firepower than I had on the ship .It did seem weird fighting one of my own ships until I thought about it. The AI had captured one of my planets that was building the ship and it obviously kept building it to completion. The reason it was armed differently is due to the AI's lower tech level, I supposed. Anyway that's how I explained it to myself. If you recently lost a planet to the Iconian

sounds like a buggy machine to me. I would bet that you have serious worm and spyware problems. At least that's how it sounds by the way you present your case. If it is so flawed how do you explain the hundreds of users that don't have the problems you mention.

Excellent guide From my personal point of view, I believe it pays to strive for symmetry. I am also reminded of the mother's advice to her daughter dressing up. Put on all the jewelry that you want to wear but before going out in public take one item off.

Franco, after reading your post twice I'm sure your surreptitiously misusing the words their, there and they're deliberately. Funny stuff . Yep, That is an example of my own pet peeve along with to and too confusion, could care less and various other malaprops. <img src="smiles/Smile.gif" border=0 AL

Or you can pass up the option alltogether. I have saved games that have a diplomatic victory available to go for a different victory. If things go south I can always go back and pick up the easy win if I want to do so. I think that the length of a game is a big factor in scores but you have to be active in all victory categories to maximize your score. If you win diplomatic or cultural without ever fighting a war your military score may not
