The first payment is made a soon as you make the agreement, thus the first turn of the duration has already passed.
That's right, but I'd guess that there should be a 2nd payment in the next turn but it isn't...
#8 by Senator CariElf - 6/16/2003 5:21:32 PM Fixed.
Since when? This (1.05.71) or next patch? I do not want fleets attacking/defdending together... That would vaporize a big part of strategy in this game! Fighting a war with many small spread combats is much more fun than wars between few huge fleets per empire! [Message Edited]
I maybe am also interested in joining an Empire... And since I am european, I think the EA could quite fit to me... However, I hardly submited games in the past and am not able to beat Maso.
I only had CTD's with 1.05.68, but I think everybody except Frogboy had these... However, I'd like to know what else but that issue was changed from 1.05.68 to 1.05.71. Here are all things I'm not so happy about but except one of these they were in previous patches aswell... - Minors shall not be that exploitable, that makes the game to easy... I liked it more as it was in 1.03. - There is a bug when paying Tribute of more than 0 turns: You pay for one turn less than you sh
Yeah, would not make much sense if you'd not win the game when beating everyone else... however, Alliance victory is the easiest to achieve in my opinion.
Well, the higher the difficult, the harder the game, but I agree, diplomacy is what gives the hugest edge over the AI on all levels before it cheats. That's the major flaw I think... They shall be more likely to trade tech vs tech and less likely to give away large amounts of money. That they cannot compete in expansion I think comes from the overpowered +2 Speed trade. If I don't use +Speed they can compete on Intelligent...
I guess you misstyped your e-mail when first beeing asked for it. Then instead of typing it again in the confirmation field, you copy&pasted it an whoops, they got a wrong mail-adress... Your Serial is right, otherwise one would not be able downloading 1.04 from the download section with it... :notsure: Conclusion is, that you cannot download Non-Standalones nor compete in the Metaverse. PS: Posting your serial was kin
Hmm... for 1.04 there was a beta phase and I think for a good reason... Why did they change that for 1.05? Well 1.05.69 works for me but 1.05.68 did not... [Message Edited]
I have it aswell... so no galciv today... :(
- more units Why not I think there at least is something needed between Overlord and Excalibur... But I definetly don't want to see bombers in that game... I think that would kinda ruin the balance of warfare... - more races I'd like to see more races, yes... but only if they'r major! I do not like minors at all... I could even say: I don't want minors in the game! Maybe they could give us an option turn them off... - more aggressive AI As long as you c
Since I first found it out, I always used it to save money... and yes, I am quite sure that at least in 1.04.62 this bug existed. Maybe someone else noticed it too but wanted to keep the secret for himself... I ask you to please run your test and tell me what you find out! If it turns out that my observations are true, even for people with plenty medals and not just an unknown guy, then they probably are more likely to fix it.
I wonder how it is determined what from the bug-reports thread makes it to the next build... Come on, Stardock... the pay-for-one-turn-less-bug could've been fixed by adding 2 bytes in the sourcecode, don't get why it did not make it in 1.05... (hopefully it made it anyways and just was not mentioned in the history text) If not, I want to encourage everybody to exploit it! >:( (if you'd have to pay 1000 at once, offer them 700 for 1 turn and pay on
Where can I find a *.txt file with the changes in 1.05? I want to know if some of the bugs that I reported were fixed! ;)
Okay, my scoring system would totally differ from what Frogboy suggests but i'll post it anyways... But before I do, I have to say this one thing: The scoring system is by far not the most important issue of this game for me! Score-calculation shall be much much simpler! The main factors should be the difficulty and the number of turns you need to win. Of course bigger maps need to give more score because you can't win them so fast. Alliance victory shall be t
Today I tested the Moo3 Patch relatively excessively and while some of the major problems are fixed one of the issues that put me off is still existant: The AI hardly invades my planets! At least not in my test game... The Evons had my defense down from turn 80 on ... they orbitted the planet with 1 armada... they sent in armada after armada of further totally unneeded battleships up to finally 108 instead of simply sending some transports to take my planets over. It took them 64 turns to ki
I don't consider the copy protection of galciv very good... It's kinda non-existant if you don't care about waiting for standalone patches or the metaverse but on the other hand it makes it hard to change the owner of that game. However, I, as someone, who purchased the game and indeed want's to keep it like it very much, that I don't need the CD-Rom to play and how the account on this board, in SDC and the metaverse is managed! If I was StarDock, i'd think about no longer maki
Is the "AI can demand Money you don't have bug" and the "pay for one turn less than you should bug" already fixed?
Hmmm I made a test game to try and see how that 3,6k score for tiny / fool was achieved... Now I think it's a bug... My testgame took like 10 minutes and was finished in spring of 2180... My score (81) was indeed so low, that my overall score dropped by ~100 points. Don't think you can do it much faster since the Transports need some time to travel... Maybe late 2179 can be done but I don't think that would make a difference of 3,5k. Coffeedragon: Well... sad thing... I am looking on the

@David Chong: WTF! 3.6k Score for winning on Cakewalk Difficulty on a tiny map? May it be that the current calculation of scores is somewhat screwed? [Message Edited]
I think The Sims is the only game that lived so long!
My personal favourite in longevity beyond games is indeed StarCraft! Well, it's not sold as a full price product anymore, but I still enjoy playing it several hours a week. But for SP-games (as you might have guessed I am not talking about SP in SC) GalCiv has a great potential to be played longer than most of my other SP games... I really was a fanatic about Civilization and later Master of Orion, but there i
It turns out that, on the trade screen, 12k for 0 turns is a lump-sum of 12k. 8k for 1 turns is 8k this turn AND 8k next turn. So, you're paying a total of 16k.
You describe what it should be like but not what it really is! As I said: I took 8k for 1 turn, what should mean 8k now, 8k in the next month, totaling to 16k... But it did in fact only cost the 8k now. This is easyly reproduceable and indeed an exploit! I think it's always 1 turn less that it should be. So 5
1. I don't actually know what sector sweep does! But could it be, that they are awakend, when they have another ship in their range? 2. I thoght that was relatively well described in the manual... Go to Domestic Policies -> Governors and create your building lists... Note that Mr.Ford is the default Governor and all what you tell him will be built. To select another Governor go to a planet, klick on "Details" and select another one. Military Governor is so simple to use that
I submitted my last game yesterday and had no problems with that... Just was wondering a bit why I got such an high score (1200 for medium/beginner).
The easiest way for me to keep peace was paying the race that declared the war to stop it right after they declared it. That not only helps you to let your Trade-Routes alive, no, in one game the prior foes even became friends and it ended in a big alliance!
