I recommend a medium map. I always play on medium! Another thing I recommand for newbies is to start with beginner level AIs. And move one level up for everytime you win.

Yes... But more important is the number of good planets. The more there are, the easier it is since the disadvantage of not knowing where the good planets are is neglected when next to every system has em.

Since I don't know how to submit a score to the metaverse (do you have to be online for that while finishing the game?) I never dealt with it's scoring system... But listen Stardock: Population beeing a factor in it is complete nonsense!!! Pop/Planet/Turns could be a factor but not population alone! I mean all games but giant/abundant would be pointless since you could nowhere else reach a compareable pop! And I think many people will agree when I say that giant/abundant i

In Civilization you were given the option of continuing a game that you or another civ won by Spaceship. I think the same should be possible with Tech-victory and maybe Influence victory in Galciv. Especially when in 1.04 Tech-victory for the AI is enabled...

I just was going to complain and say that the arceans did not win a single game but then I read "and only at intelligent level or higher" Well... I'm still having a hard time beating bright and so did not yet play on Intelligent.

Here's a bug I experienced with the 1.03 standalone: I call it Ghostship-Bug. In my current game I have a Corvette with -17/12 Hitpoints. It has 0 Attack and 4 Defense. I can fly through everything with it. Just like a ghost. The enemies ignore it, just as if it was not there. I cannot disband it. I have a screenshot and a savegame with this in. Please E-Mail me if you want to have the shot and the savegame.

...to colonize all those crappy little planets and then give em to the AI? Would they get rid of them by disbanding them or would they let themselfes be driven into financial ruin by the maintenance? If noone has tested this yet I think I will and after i'll report what I saw.

The answer is quite simple: You set the major civilizations intelligence to simple but not that of the minors! It stays at whatever it was, possibly intelligent. Now take into account that they almost always start with relatively good planets and you'll see: There's no way for them not to be the ones who get the first some tradegoods! ;)

I never played 1.02 (got the game when 1.03 was out already). But I have the very same impression like #1 It's damn hard to trade techs with the AI especially because you don't know what would be enough for them. They almost always make a much better deal in the end. And when it does not come to a deal they simply leave me behind... :(

How do I do that? The AI already has that and I think that's a big advantage especially in small and medium galaxies. Well it's more a disadvantage for me than an advantage for them. I never know how many Colonyships I shall purchase. I had a game where I pumped out far too many end ended up with 7 too much! If you have a strategic solution for my problem that would be nice! But I don't think it's too much of a cheat to give me that tech when all AI's have it. Besides the fact t

At Genius they have a slight production advantage of 8% or so but at Increadible they have a huge production advantage of 67%! The only fair difficulty is Intelligent. At Fool they have a huge disadvantage and in all Difficulty levels from Beginner to Genius they'r close to yours with Intelligent beeing the one, where they have exactly the same. Frogboy postet a list of this once somewhere. Increadible however is an extreme Difficulty Level that noone's supposed to manage. Play on G

Seems so... For me it's more a problem in making up the difference between Torian and Arcean Starbases. But I know someone who has the red-green color blindness aswell and so could not play that game aswell...

I can read but I don't get what you'r talking about. I legally puchased my copy of Galciv! I don't want to know anything more but how this guy downloaded the 1.04 Beta! I think the drengin.net works as it should but it does not display newer updates than 1.03A.057!
