click Start --> Run type in "dxdiag" without the quotes and hit ok. Wait for dxdiag to finish running the diagnostic, then click on the Display tab. At the bottom under the Notes section does it say "No problems found"? If so click on the Test DirectDraw button and run that text, then click on the Test Direct3D button and run that test.

Any reason you're still using XP Service Pack 1? I don't know if it has anything to to with your crash, it's just something I rarely see.
Strategist: Developers: Why are the races so different in terms of starting abilities? Do 'weak' races like humans get some kind of advantage we can't see? Are there any plans to rebalance the races? Weren't you the guy bitching about the races not being different enough? Now you wonder w
I like the change, although as I said earlier I'd like for other factors to be taken into consideration as well, such as empire size and military rating. You could perhaps get around this by leaving your victims with one small planet instead of wiping them out completely. If it's well inside your borders it'll culture flip to you pretty quick.
Download SmartException on SDS. Email the .CRA file it creates along with the debug.err file to [email protected]
Depends. If you have some good research bonuses, and can afford to funnel money into it while at war, it could be. It might be better to try to trade for it instead.
First thing you need to do is download and intall the v1.0X patch. https://www.galciv2.com/Downloads.aspx Updating your video card driver wouldn't hurt either.
Two, is what he said. I wonder if minor races count.
You download it with Stardock Central.
Assuming you're winning these boring games, bumping up the difficulty would seem a logical decision.
clearly, you provoked the Thalan, with your... uhm... aggressive posturing. Actually, that's a pretty good point. If you only got tagged as a conqueror for attacking first, I could see someone cheesing their way around it by never attacking. When you want to wipe someone out you just park a huge invas
Use SDS to download SmartException. Make sure SmartExeption is running in the background while you playe the game. Post the contents of the .CRA file after the next crash. It will not generate a file if the computer reboots instead of crashing.
Is the game crashing to desktop or rebooting your computer?
NLC are not in 1.0. They are in the 1.1 betas. Frogboy says the final 1.1 should be out next week....

I would prefer a shippack be included in the first expansion rather than as a seperate item. I'm not too keen on the recent industry trend of dribbling out content piecemeal.

Xeno Ethics rarely gets researched by the AI because it only has an AI value of 3, which AFAIK is the lowest value of any tech. I know some people have modded the file to increase the AI value, and I'm thinking of doing the same.
There is no destabilization in the game right now. It was cut late in development, apparently.
The game can already use 1.5G of memory on a gigantic galaxy. You're going to run into even more serious issues the bigger you get. Also, the AI is not as good dealing with very large spaces.
1. Greatly expanded espionage. 2. More ship sets so each race has their own style. I'd be happy with just that. I don't see the need for more races, although Frogboy's suggestion would be cool. If I could have anything else I'd go for unique heroes and artifacts that can be hired/found.
I agree, Wargazmo. I don't think it's even possible to make 10 different races perfectly balanced and still have them distictly different, especally given that there are many different galaxy settings that can make some abilites very important and others worthless depending on what you chose. I don't really mind if there is one or two races that I always have to look out for a little more than the others. I think it adds flavor to the game.
nm. Someone helped me out and I have it now.
CC, that did it! Thanks, man. I was about to give up hope. Now that I am properly updated, I can one again say with certainty that the moon production bonus is not being applied.
Because it doesn't show up on my SDS. I'm currently at BETA 4, and stuck there, apparently. I've tried everything I can think of. I completely uninstalled and reinstalled SDS. I changed the download server in the tools section. I pressed the "Refresh XML Data" button. I made sure "show pre-release versions" was checked. SDS shows my installed version as 1.10[b4].017 and available as "--------". WTF? <img src="smiles/SadAngry.gif" border=0
