What the... I just realized that SDS only updated me to v1.1 BETA 4, not 4A. SDS says my current version, 1.10[b4].017, is the latest. Was 4A taken down, or why isn't it showing up on SDS?

This is great, you're doing an awesome job! But I did just check and the 10% m. production bonus for a moon is still broken. Maybe for 1.1 final....
You should also download Smartexeption from SDS, which is far more helpful in indentifying crash bugs than anything else.
Strategist: That is, unless you mean to tell me there are boni that are hidden from the player (which at any rate would be silly). There is one that I know of. The Yor have a penalty to their diplomatic ability. Why this is hidden is beyond me.
I think the one thing that would increase the AIs competitiveness more than anything else, especially on big maps, would be to make it use sneak attack or "Blitzkreig" attacks like human players do. Too often they declair war and then take weeks or months (on a gigantic map) to attack, giving the player time to prepare. It's a huge disadvantage to the AI to fight wars like this.
Frogboy: The bonus production from moons and such does work. I've watched it in the debugger. If the bonus is being applied it is doing so invisibly. This is very easy to test. Just start up a new game and look at it, as in Peace Phoenix's link. Apparently this is the case for an
Astax: Now who do I email the save of Torian planet with 3 starports to? Frogboy: Astax - known. Not sure why it's doing that. But it's on our list. Not for 1.1. https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=164&AID=112525
AFAIK the rings work for the research bonus. This seems to only affect planet-based military production bonuses.
Uh-oh - that was a bug in Beta 1 that had disappeared in betas 2&3. Nope. I got that line in my debug all the time in beta 3. I counted 18 times in one play session a few days ago.
Have you been able to determine if this is only affecting the moon bonus, or if all planetary industry bonuses are not working?
The +10% production bonus due to the presence of a moon still does not work. I've seen reports that ALL planetary-based military production bonuses are not working, but have not tested this.
Yep, you're right. That is a major bug.
BinnisterGC2: ---> What is the deal with the xeno farming tech line STILL being (IMO) wrong? Have you explained this *glaring* 'mistake' somewhere else and I just missed it? If you don't do the Metaverse thing, just do as I did and edit your PlanetImprovements.xml file. I set Intensive Far
Hmm, nobody knows?
It's not fixed. I have 18 of those error lines listed in my debug.err file. Gigantic galaxy. When I choose the abilities for a custom race, I hit the "reset" button and I have 10 points to spend, but not all the abilities reset. It still shows Soldering +25 and Loyalty +20 selected, and I can keep them for free if I don't click on them. Bug? This is with beta 3.
Neutral Learning Centers are not in the game right now. The tech is there but the building is not. Stardock has mentioned this is on their to-do list.
PattyLans: Driver Date: 9/26/2001 23:33:36 That's your problem. Your video card is so old I don't know if there is a recent driver for it, but you'll need to find one to play the game. Maybe someone familiar with ATI cards knows where one can be found... EDIT: I went to the ATI website and unfortunately it appears you alre
That's pretty much how I won all my games in GC 1 on "Painfull". Of course, without Spin Control center I built massive numbers of Corvettes that gave me a huge military rating for not much maintenance. Same concept. Some things never change.
Pffff. The economy works fine. And Brad isn't the only guy who works on the game, he's just the only guy who codes the AI. Better AI is always welcome. The one thing that distinguishes GC from all other 4x games is it's AI. People need to get a grip.
Wasn't Master of Magic a ripof of Magic: the Gathering? Um, no.
That said, if I knew for a FACT that Heroes were simply not a feature the Galciv2 team would consider, I'd shut up about it, however as far as I know there is no official position in this regard as yet. I posted a link earlier in this thread. I guess nobody reads my posts <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Cool.gif" border=0
I bet you "no heroes" guys don't like the ship expirience feature either. Or at least you shouldn't if you were consistant, sinse ships can essentially become hero units already. And yet the game is not ruined... I haven't seen an arguement yet against heroes that makes any sense.
As I mentioned, even the George Washingtons, Da Vincis, Mozarts get abstracted when you look at things at a galactic scale. When you're talking about invading a planet using a million soldiers, one person just doesn't count. Not true. No matter how large the fleet or army gets, somebody is in charge of it. Silly realism arguements as
