Or has it been there all along with 1.6? I don't remember this from the other betas--I didn't play them that much. But the colony ship module will only hold 250 instead of 500. I am talking about the first colony ship that you have and later ones that you build. When you are building the ship, it says that the module will hold 500. That makes quite a difference when you are trying to get a planet going. Was this deliberate?

Yeah, the mini-map is fixed! The stars and planets are no longer dim!
Someone mentioned using the Galactopedia earlier. Well, I think that only works for DL. It would be nice to have something like that for DA. There are a lot of improvements in DA that need explanation. (I am a newbie, but played DL for a long time). If I get desperate, I look at the .xml files and get some info. Or ask here.
Can you invade planets that you cannot (yet) colonize?
1. In DA, the colony list should show for unowned planets what type they are? Radioactive, toxic, etc. 2. The player should have the right to reject stolen tech (sometimes enhanced factories can bankrupt you)--this should be done in DL too. 3. Abiltity to create and reuse queues for planetary improvements. On many of my planets (not all) I do the same thing for the list of planetary improvements. 4. A slider that determines how many "unusual" potentially inhab
Is anyone else noticing the dim stars in the mini-map in the later betas? Particularly on a huge map. Or am I the lone ranger?
Actually I don't know which beta dimmed the mini-map. But released version 1.59.081 has a mini-map that is bright (like DL).
I hope you can get the stars and planets brighter on the next beta. They are as dim as beta 3. Way dimmer than the last released version of DA.
Unfortunately in the new beta mini-maps, the stars and planets are too dim. Beta 2 I think was ok. Beta 3 was the culprit. Speed is great but I want to see the mini-map easily.
Have the stars on the mini-map fixed? They were too dim in beta 1.3.
This can be fixed by uninstalling and rolling back to 1.59.081. see this thread: https://forums.galciv2.com/?aid=152862#1212363 Back to the clearer mini-map.
Yes, uninstalling and rolling back to 1.59.081 worked. Mini-map now looks the one in DL. I hope this gets fixed on the next go round. Thanks!
Is it possible to back up to an earlier version? How would you do it? Would I have to start over from scratch?
Thanks Kryo. Yes, I do have the latest patch. I played DA about a month ago and I don't remember having this problem. I need bigger, brighter dots. It's not a problem if I zoom in. But I often like to be zoomed out on the mini-map. I was wondering if there was a Hubble telescope improvement that would fix the problem;)
On a huge map with DA v. 1.60 (1.59x or whatever). Compared to DL I can hardly see the stars and planets on the mini-map. They are so dim compared to DL on the same sized map.
I am running a huge sized game. I just started playing DA after long playing DL. The stars and planets in my mini-map are hardly visible in DA compared to the same sized map in DL. I have a feeling that something in the options might fix it but I don't know what. I have tried several things in the video option but so far nothing works. The rest of the main screen is fine. I am playing 1024x72x on a 17 inch monitor. I know that with a huge map it is hard to see things o
We aren't talking about the same planet list. I am talking about the list you get from hitting the planet button at the lower left on the main screen. I realize there is a second planet-colony list buried under one of the other buttons. I don't use it as much. I use the planet list (from the planet button) when I am deciding where to send my colony ship. If the ship is selected and you punch on the planet, the screen goes there and you can right-click to get the colo
My planet list is usually set to class (number of usable squares)-- high to low. All of a sudden it was low at the top to high at the bottom. Now I know a lot of lists in programs can be reversed but I didn't see a button to do that. It would be really annoying for the list to go from low to high (particularly for colonizable planets). I reloaded and things were ok. I wondering if I did something to make this happen. This is in DL.
I always lose money at first. Because I always start with at least 3 factories per planet during the colony rush. After I colonize a few planets, I build sensors and start looking for anomalies to tide me over. I build the first few econ techs. Build impulse drive and then go back to economic developments--pushing toward banks and stock exchanges. Then in DL I get the 3 extra squares from neutral. I am doing the colony rush all along (I am on crippling). Then advance to republic and democ
Do the DL and DA mods go in the same directory? For example, if I change the planetimprovements.xml file.
I am still playing DL. I half like DA (whatever). I have played a lot of games (with victory coming only from war). I have never used espionage. Is it worth it? I have a little trading but not much. I am not sure it is worth trading with future enemies. Perhaps with the neutral single planet parties would be ok. Is it worth it to generate significant revenue?
I know my log-on and password. I didn't request it. I got an email this morning (apparently from Stardock) listing my log-on and password. I don't know if someone is trying to steal my identity. I'm not sure what good it would do on this board.
I usually build 3 factories first. On the first planet I quick-build a factory. Then a starport at the beginning. Starports I build later after a while. Then usually a morale building. Then market centers. Factories eat up money. I have to look for anomalies with money to keep me going. Work my way up to stock exchanges. The higher govt. gives you more money. Ultimately, if you are playing a military game, it is higher production that is the most important. Early in
I also would like an option on the number on "inhabitable non-inhabitagle" planets.
