Technician, The only reason I haven't made a web page myself yet, is I'm too lazy! If you want to make it, I not only condone it, I encourage it! Heck, I may be able to find some time to help, if you want my help that is. I can probably find some public domain graphics for you that you can legally put into the web page. Canadian content of course. You know, the usual stuff, maple leafs, flags, beavers, hockey sticks. :-)

Keep in mind that many of us in this empire do not enjoy playing GalCiv as a war game. We prefer the diplomatic game, thus our choices make sense for the style we choose to play. In fact, if I had to play GalCiv as a war game, I would have stopped playing it many months ago... I think as a war game it is average at best. As a complete space conquest game, it has no equal.

This happened to one of my games recently. You'll notice I have one alliance victory in the middle of a bunch of military victories. The last remaining race and myself were getting pummelled by the Dreadlords operating off one planet. Eventually we agreed to be friends and end the game. :-)

I am both guilty of what Technician speaks (submitting military victories) for the points, and agree completely with his opinion on the game. There comes a time when you know you win, and it takes another hour to achieve the military victory, but you could win quicker with one of the other types. I wouldn't both to continue towards the military victory if the victory types were equal. Let's also be clear, my achieving military victory is not an indication of a more difficult victory. I

I don't micromanage on any game, and I've played the ones that other people do. I always make use of governors, and try to automate as much as possible. Also, I'm simply not afraid to press the turn button without looking over all the details. That sounds easy enough but that's where a lot of people have problems. They can't stop themselves from looking! Oh, and I recommend changing the autosave to 5 turns instead of 12, just so you don't have to back up so far in case your inattentiven

He's speaking French. That's one hell of a sentence, with no capitalization or punctuation too! My french is rusty, but it's mostly complaining about the diplomatic aspect of the game, not about the various gases that may also be present. :-) He seems to be confused that his allies don't ask anything of him, and when he asks his allies for stuff, they tell him to stop making demands. To a certain extent he has a point. In this game "allies" seems to mean only militar

My secret is to increase the frequency of pressing "Turn". :-) I only check on how things are doing every 5-10 turns. I don't manage everything on a per turn basis, until battle breaks out, which for me is pretty late in the game, and after I control most of the planets.

Oh, some more hints maybe. Lately I've been having a really easy time in Masochistic games. I think I just figured out why. Since it sounds like some of you also like to play a non military game like me, it might help you too. I chose the Pacifist factor, and chose a +50 in Diplomacy as well. That gives me a +70 on Diplomacy right off the start. This makes it a lot easier to deal with the aggressive Masochistic races. I also of course research all the diplomacy, trade techs ea

I think you may not be growing your planets quickly enough. You might want to just up the difficulty one at a time, that way you learn to speed your growth a little at a time. You've been playing a lot of low level games where the AI is pretty slow. In the higher games I can not keep up with them either, but it sounds like you are way too far behind them to even challenge them. When you say you had 10 starbases, what was on them? 10 basic starbases don't do much. 10 starbases with part

Australia is pretty much as far away from Canada as you can get. Although I loved my vacation there, other than the 27+ hours of travel it took... Of course she'd be welcome to join of course, I'm sure she'd be welcome everywhere. Although I think she got in a little trouble for empire jumping awhile back. :-)

Yes, but with cultural victories so easy, it's very easy to turn a cultural victory into any victory type you want. For example, absorb all the planets but one with culture, and then with 99% of the galaxies resources behind you, do you think that planet will hold against you long no matter how you choose to win it? I should know, I am terrible at comabt and look at my record, almost all military victories. Looks impressive doesn't it!? Wrong, hardly any of those are true military vict
