I got to hand it to you. Your Christmas logo is pretty cool! It's not easy to design nice logos at 32x32! I had a whole whack of cool graphics but they all suck when shrunk to 32x32. The only one half decent so far is a snowflake. Too bad because I have a cool graphic of a snowman holding a red maple leaf. Only problem is the snowman is a blur and the maple leaf looks like a dot!

Being the founder of the Canadian Star Federation I dole out Senator roles in our empire to those players who appear the most deserving. It's a completely arbitrary decision on my part, I admit. So far what I have tried to give the honour to people who have displayed either a significant skill in the game, (i.e. racking up nice scores in high difficulty settings) or to individuals who are very active members of the community. Maybe I should announce such decisions as a reward

I just read this group on my one of my less frequent trips here. I'll probably play a bit over the holidays though... Anyway, there were a bunch of messages about beaver tails that were edited. I can't help but wonder what they were talking about that got edited! :-)

People always seem to jump to extremes. My original point was Stardock mentioned in the early literature the way to keep interest in a game after it is release (and cut down on piracy) is to release regular meaningful updates after it is released. That doesn't mean they have to do it for free for ever, but when they stop, they will likely see a big decline in the borderline players like myself. I've given it quite a bit of thought, and I have decided against buying t

I think some of the early responders misunderstood my post. I'm not complaining about Stardock's support. They've been quite good. Their response to customers is the best I have ever seen. Some bugs have taken longer to fix than I would have expected, but that's not a big deal. Overall, I'm very pleased so far. What I am suggesting is, a pay for expansion pack is going to splinter the user group, between those buy it and those who don't. Remember the whole philosophy being driven at th

One thing that has always annoyed me with other companies is the lack of support for the core game once an expansion pack has been released. In the case of GalCiv so far that has not been a problem since all patches and expansions have been free all bug fixes and stuff need only be applied to one branch of the source code. What is going to happen once/if there is a pay for expansion? Will the main game (without expansion) still see bug fixes? Will it die as far as growth goes? I know o

So you can still have a whole bunch of starbases in a sector, you just need to make them terror stars and move them in. That will cost a lot more constructors though, and they move so slow too. A good step in the right direction.

What's with these voting questions with the seriously incomplete answers: Again this one is assuming either you've played it, or you don't know about it. What about, you didn't play it, but do know about it. It is possible to know that it exists and still choose not to play it. There was an earlier poll question with the same assumption.

I think if you ever make it possible to damage a planet without winning the battle, you have to not only take into consideration how many troops are attacking, but also the relative strength compared to the defenders. Even with 15 million attackers, it's small if the planet hosts 100 million inhabitants. Especially if the defender has more advantages in soldiering as well. Very tricky area, although I think the status quo should be revisited, because it's just too easy to abuse

Speaking of minor races, am I the only one who thinks limiting them to 1 sector is a bad idea. Especially for the I-League. It would be cool if the I-League and Fundamentalist would actually try to grow. Sometimes they get quite powerful after the events that produce them. If they tried to grow from that point they could really become major powers to deal with! I find only havingn 5 races in very large maps a little boring. I think if the minors, or the addition of new majors would make

Actually I played yesterday, and after accidentally winning a battle with mass drivers, the planet was no longer very habitable, so I lifted all the colonists. The colony still existed with 0 population. That colony not only built new colony ships, but the population increased. How exactly do 0 people reproduce?

BTW, isn't it odd that you're limited to 10 trade routes regardless of universe size. I mean 10 trade routes in a tiny universe is more than reasonable. 10 Trade routes in a Gigantic universe seems very odd.
