Hi newsch1, welcome and thank you! The team is happy to take a look, if you're having issues with layouts getting messed up. Would it be possible to follow the instructions in the post above? Be sure to take a snapshot, rename it to "This is the way I want it" etc etc, then do whatever causes it to break, take another snapshot / name it "broken" and then upload it to us. We'd love to figure out what's going on. Thanks for the help and again glad you've gotten good

Hi David, Correct, closest to Fences on Mac is the app "Desktop Groups" https://apps.apple.com/us/app/desktop-groups/id542912361?mt=12 which is quite old, but according to the App Store does still work. There are also apps like Unclutter, which provide a dock like functionality, and others similar. https://unclutterapp.com/ Sparkle exists,
Hi mr_vico, a couple steps to try and diagnose this. The first series includes creating a log file and submitting. Please do the following (1) Go to About, Troubleshooting, and click "Enable advanced logging". Reboot so that the setting can take effect. (2) After rebooting, modify your layout as desired. (3) Take a backup snapshot from the Layouts tab. (Ideally, click on the snapshot and rename it "Before disconnect") (4) Reproduce the issue, disconnecting

Hi June thanks for pointing this out. We’ve forwarded this on to the dev team as indeed the keyboard navigation scrolling appears to not be working properly, whereas it had in the past. We’ll take a look and be back to you with more. Thank you for the helpful feedback
Hi, please also try clicking “do not preserve” option and then switching back to “store on per monitor basis”. This has helped some. If this doesn’t help we’re happy to work to diagnose more.
Hi Mr Vico, Ok great. Well in good news, while CLI for this is not supported, the program does have ability in v6 that is built specifically to handle this situation gracefully. You may need to check your settings to ensure it's enabled. Head to the layout tab, and ensure "Store my layout on a per-monitor-config basis" is checked. If it already is, switch it to "Don't preserve my desktop layout" and then back to "Store on a per-monitor-config basis", and try again. You'll have
Hi, which version are you using?
Correct. The feature was disabled by default as it led to a lot of confusion and accidental usages. I'm glad you were able to find it and enable.
Hi all, this is a bug – thanks for pointing out. You should be able to set the titlebar font & color independently for each group/tab, just as you can the background color. We've added this to the team's list to resolve and it should be resolved for a future update. Thank you!
Hi, working to sort this out. I’m reading “seeing popup at the end of my trial” So- That popup should only appear for Fences 5 users. If you’re using a free trial of Fences 5, then that trial is out of date, as Fences 6 has been available for about 9 months. Unfortunately the $20 offer is meant for upgrading users who already own Fences 5 (hence the popup showing in Fences 5.) So- to make use of the offer, you’ll need to be
Fences is a desktop icon organizer. The desktop is a surface that lives underneath all open windows. I’m wondering where the impression was made that it was something different.
> "folder portals renaming" So yes, so long as you're not navigated to a subfolder, you can rename it just like any other group – click its title, and you should get an edit box. Any changes you make will stick, including through navigation. But yes caps-only changes will get wiped, unless you rename the actual folder. >&
> indicate "newly placed" Great suggestion. Adjusted and thank you > hide sync-status indicators Good call & agree. We'll put this in our queue for a future version or update. > hide folder icon option Not the first request for this and in fact we've had the plumbing for this underway. Just a tap to complete. It won't be in this month's update, but you can expect it in the following update, and we'll have it in beta likely
Hi Rick, thanks for the thoughtful feedback. 1) Agreed dock-to-top makes a little less sense on tabbed groups, but, we do keep that behavior for consistency. We have a new option coming up this month to switch tabs on mouseover. We're considering adding an option for enabling this specifically for docked tab groups, so it comes up to whatever your mouse enters. Likewise, we're introducing options to "Require clicking headerbar to expand", which likewise makes it more accessibl
Hi Tim. The high CPU on mouseover is not a bug, it is the program drawing. (Or rather, is it the desktop drawing, triggered by the mouseover.) CPU use in small bursts in response to user input is normal activity for a software program There is animation that occurs on mouseover, and so when you mouse over and out redrawing occurs. The CPU expense will vary from machine to machine particularly depending how many icons you have o
Good to know! If you find out the offending shell extension, please let us know? Always helpful to look into it on their behalf, or add detection so that we can warn. Thanks again
Hi all, good news. We were able to reproduce this internally and have resolved for the next update, coming within the next 2 weeks. Thanks again for the report
Hi c004, thanks again for the report. Good news, the team was able to look at your settings and found the root of the issue. Having "Show controls in header" off was the cause. The issue has been resolved on our end for the next release, and feel free to just turn this option back on in the meantime to resolve on your end until then. Thank you again!
Excellent. We have a release coming up in the next couple weeks, so hopefully we see and can fix. Thank you!
One option also- you can upload your settings to our team, so we can load them up and try to reproduce on our end. To do this, in the About tab, click Troubleshooting and then you’ll see an option such as Submit/Upload error report
c004002449 Any chance you can switch the language in the about box to English and restart? This would help us be able to see what’s going on. Thanks for your help
Hi, likewise, would it be possible to post a recording of the issue? The team would like to see what's going on. Please share if there are other system or desktop enhancement tools you are using. Agreed likewise a reset/reinstall first might be a good call. Thank you
Hi xfade just to update, the team took a look at this and was able to resolve. There are now two snap points – one using the spacing just off the edge of the screen, and then a second one flush against the edge if you continue to push. So, if you're gentle, you'll be able to access both, to make achieving even spacing simple. Thanks again for writing in, and look out for an update likely a little later this month.
Hi xfade, thanks for pointing this out. This was an intentional change by the team to address the opposite complaint, that when spacing is enabled it’s not possible to place a group up against the edge. With this feedback in hand, is seems like the best solution is to have two snap points - one at the point of spaced away from the edge, and the second if one keeps pushing, flush against. We’ll get this on their radar. Thank you!
