Unfortunately, there's always been a certain amount of resentment over the scoring system, and probably always will be. Most people who have been around for a while have been in at least one argument over it.
"Player ran Unofficial Metaverse" Interestingly, a similar idea was floated months ago in the old FOTR thread (or maybe even the original White Council thread, I'm not really sure anymore), back when masochistic games were being inadequately rewarded. In version 1.05 and earlier, there was a strong disincentive to play maso from a scoring standpoint--crippling games typically got you a better score for less work. That wasn't the main issue, though--the main complaint that people had (an
What are the new races like?
I would add that evenement in Egypt in 1956 where England and France were involved was a military victory that went into a diplomatic failure
I'm not Europe-bashing, just correcting some history. It wasn't an unassisted victory: England and France were allies of Israel. It was a particularly ill-timed venture, as Soviet troops were enforcing a brutal crackdown in Chechoslovakia at the time, and the English/French/Israeli excursion meant that the world's attention

I got bored with the game before I even finished colonization.
What type of galaxies work better at higher levels
Tiny/rare is particularly easy. Other than that, I'm not sure that any map is much easier than the others. In general, smaller maps tend to lead to a more militaristic game, and larger ones tend to be
*clap clap clap* I'll begin submitting again soon... probably next week. And I'm sure AP will draw some more people out.
Oops, I thought I sent you an email earlier! Done now.
I'm curious. Of your time at "work" what fraction is spent actually working? As opposed to gossiping with coworkers, checking the forums, daydreaming about committing war crimes against the Altarians, and so on? It's hard for me to give a number since I do a lot of work at home... but I'm wondering what life will be like once I'm done with grad school.
Nice. But I'm tempted to steal that sword-bearing robot now that you're not using it :) Just catching up on several days of posts. Lots of funny stuff :)
So would this be a booty call?
The folks upstairs ended up with frozen pipes--they were on vacation and turned off the heat. Luckily nothing too serious or we would have found out when our roof started leaking.
the Altarians are going down! I do not like the snooty little %^&$#@!
They certainly have that effect on people... :D

Congrats on your temporary lead :)
Actually the major races' political parties change from game to game. I don't know anything about the minor races' political parties. I'm not sure about minor race alignments. I think the Alexians are evil because I've seen them get the Telenath event where it talks about how the evil Alexians are sacrificing thousands of lives to gain power (whereas if a good or neutral race gets it, it just says they've found an artifact granting them power). And I think I've seen the Carinoi
Try the calculations. The moon's just too massive. Here's a super-rough sketch. The biggest nuke ever exploded released about 10^17 J. Let's say we exploded it on the moon's equator, in an attempt to push the moon outward. This calculation will determine how far outward the moon will be pushed. The moon weighs 10^23 kg. Figure out earth's gravitational attraction at the moon's orbit: g on earth's surface = 10 m/s earth's radius: 6000 km radius of
Huh, it's a balmy 7 degrees out! Time to break out the T-shirts!
Got it now, thanks! As you've no doubt noticed my foruming for now is very limited. In addition to that test I've griped about, things just got super-busy at work. After this month is over things should ease off to normal.
Was -10 when I walked to work today. :(
A lot of people in physics on this forum... I am too. You'd need far more nukes than all the ones on earth put together to make a noticeable difference in the moon's orbit, which is what matters for tides and the environment. The moon weighs something like 10^23 kg. A nuke would have less effect on the moon than a mosquito landing on an aircraft carrier. We COULD, however, probably rather easily make cosmetic changes to the moon's surface. For example, if we had a base on the moon that
Wow Greldon, you're a machine!

Since the game came out, the AI's gotten smarter in terms of behavior, but the AI abilities (like econ, morale, etc) on most levels have been reduced. So it's hard to say if it's "harder" or not. Certainly it's better :)
