Just installed 1.03, but having problem with 1.02 as well. Whenever I try to restart a game using autosave, Galciv exits and closes. What can I do? Is there a file I need to alter?

depending on other races. either straight to dreadnaught or avatar. trade bunches till then so nobody wars with me.
Yes Join "The" Empire, Bobo is welcome anytime. And GalCiv homepage not done yet.
"Um Girlfriend more importnat than game. " no my friend...beer and pizza more important
sleep is for the weak 4..A...M must...conquer galaxy...torians must be assimilated must submit...high score...to meta..verse... (collapse...get up 2 hours later, takes shower goes to 30 something job, girlfriend pissed)
Please start a British Empire, so the Irish and Scottish empire...oh and the IRA can be created...hahaha. Less becoming 'Galactic' more 'Nationalistic' civ...however, I would like to see the Union Jack and Irish.
I usually play good-guy, cause I notice that halfway through the game either the Alterians or the green-guys, get pretty big. But game play definitely changes depending on who my neighbors are. Things I've done so far: 1.)After reading posts here and seeing that it really doesn't change my alignment. I attack any and all minor races and take them over. 2.) Militarily I will wipe out one race (opposite my alignment), just to make the end game easier to manage and expand
"I vote for 'starbase support network'." I don't think this is such a good idea. 1.) Part of the race for galacy dominace is resource control. It takes the fun out of sending your survey ship to search for resources and trying to get the resource before another race does. 2.) It's a pain in the butt when playing AI at higher levels. And weaker races will never be able to create starbases. Of course my thought may change once I try playing with the new rules.
"#23 by Veteran forceinfinity - 5/8/2003 3:39:40 AM I like what Keith suggested, but with the following modification Why not also have starbases cost more as they are further away from the nearest owned planet (as they would be a bit more difficult to keep "supplied" as it were)" good idea and add as your sector influence grows the cost of sb away from your home reduces. It seems ridiculous to have a starbase on the other side of the galaxy cost the same as one by your h
Suggestion: I have never had a problem getting the tech I wanted, but the highest level I've played is Normal. When you start your game. Figure out who your immediate neighbors are and put all money into researching techs if you are safe. When you get the tech you need for Gal. Stock Exchange, make sure your highest PQ planet builds it and switch funds into building social and reduce tech spending, but not to zero. Make sure you have very little spending on military at this point.
Have a constructor buid a space station in their territory and build culture additions on it. The opposing race will send you a warning that you are trying to culturally assimilate them and they want your space station. Tell them to piss off and they will eventually declare war on you. Also become evil and your relations with the good guys will go down hill and they will 'out of the blue' declare war on you. Something like 'your race needs to be wiped off the galaxy'...try different things t
I will get complete stats later and repost, but at about midway through my game, the surveyor was being attacked but no damage, infact it destroyed enemy battleship. Eventually my surveyor was so tough that I could take it around destroying fully developed space stations and dreadnaughts. My own dreadnaughts couldn't destroy a spacestation without taking significant damage, but the surveyor...maybe 20 hp of damage of 160 total hps. Now everytime I play a game, I have 2 surveyors running around
An all 'Blue' Female Race!! But EVIL!!
"Well no wonder the Drengin are peeved.. you all keep misspelling their races name! I would be cross to. " Within the game there is the spelling "Drengin" and "Dregin"...personally I like "Dregin"...sounds evil
How complicated would this be? Just a suggestion for future release. Before you start a galaxy you can choose how you want your computer opponents to win. Examples: 1. You can set the Dregin, so they will try to win by conquoring all races. This may not be fair for the Dregin and since this is a scenario, depending on their intelligence level have them start of with extra weapons technology. Kind of like an Evil Empire vs. the Rebels. 2. You can choose which races you want to pla
what is green thumb?
Before getting 'The Terraformer' why not colonize all planets which are rated 14? Good idea? Probably double the number of planets you own? Also is it good to colonize on non yellow stars, like planet 14 on a green star? do the stars make a difference in production or morale? Thanks, J
I've played the game only a few of times. But I think on Gigantic, there is always one star system which is 'pink'. Is this a special star system?
Drengin also referred to as Dregin. Consistancy maybe? not sure if meant to be
The 'battle transport' is also reffered to as a 'combat transport'. Consistancy problem? Anyway one appears when you are making the unit. The other appears when you are choosing the ship on the right-frame menu. Thanks, J
Sorry forgot what the unit was called. But here are stats: Played on Gigantic Played Simple game When an 'Overlord' is put over a ?Deathstar? and they are made into a fleet the Deathstar matches the 'Overlord' movement rate. This a bug, yeah? Later, J
Here is the exact message: "You must have installed Galactic Civilizations from CD before applying the BonusPak. If you are using Stardock Central, we suggest you use that to apply the updates. But, you're welcome to save a copy of this file as well. "
Downloaded the game from this site. what patch levels are the downloads up to? also am i able to download future patches, I remember attempting to download the newest patch and a message stating "download the patch only if you have the cd"(something like this). Thanks, Joe
