Oh, they may never concede the point, but thats not really the point. Frogboy is a very intelligent game designer and I assure you, the crazy way in which pop inflates score will be dealt with. It might not be for another 2 months and he might not ever concede the point to you or me, but it will be dealt with before to many people realize that getting better means getting a worse score. I probably wont be here as part of the community, but thats no reflection

If a player never runs up their score, once they hit the highest difficulty level, and cant go higher, any improvement in their ability would reduce thier score because pop >>>>>> then time, which is the opposite of how it should be. I cant make this flaw any simplier. It has nothing to do with cheating, it only effects the top 1% of the metaverse players now, but it will someday effect anyone who can beat the game and tracks their improvement through th
The poll isnt the 'least trusted', its the most trusted, there is a difference.
On larger maps you can win the game without having any military at all the entire game, at mashocistic level. So im guessing the neccesity of military isnt so cut and dry.
Yea, what Ellestar said, easiest way to conquer everyone is through cultural influence. So the best score results from nearly having a military conquest using cultural influence and then win by tech. All the while allied with almost everyone. Ant this game a beut!
They removed my 23k game, not sure why, not entirely surprised, I do have it saved in an earlier state and could resubmit it at a more socially acceptable score. Though I remain commited to believing all scores above 6k mean nothing. If you can get 6k on a masochistic then you can get any score, and the difference is meaningless.
You know, the funny thing is, and this really illustrates the 'problem' with the metaverse. If I play the game correctly, with the intent to dominate the galaxy as quickly and effeciently as possible, as I get better, I will accomplish this goal faster. As I get faster, my population will have less time to grow in. The end result is that as I get and play better my score will drop alot. My first masochistic win where I took over the galaxy<b
Then why did you remove my score? It wasnt cheated it wasnt modded, either the metaverse is working properly and its calculation of my score based on my population is correct, in which case my compulsive behaviour to get a higher score isnt hurting anyone. Or the metaverses calculation of my score based on pop is incorrect and the problem isnt just with my score its with every score above 6k. And you cant fix it by remove peoples score, you have to fix ho
I see you have finally removed my 23k score game, are you now going to remove every game where someone inflated their population? That would be almost every game above 6k. Thats the problem, its a creeping tendency that you cant avoid. Im not asking you to do anything but stop punishing people for submitting intersting/lowscoring games and fixing the redicious way in which population is used to determine score. If people want to cheat the system, l
Yes, there are always a ton of cheese ball abusers on the top of most rating systems, even the one I used. But the competitive community knew who they were and ignored them quite effectively. So perhaps they exist but they were all but invisible to me. Like I have said a dozen times before, you cant stop them, there are too many small holes to plug to plug them all. The problem, AGAIN, with the metaverse is that there are some BIG holes that make it
Yea, thats about right, though being stuck in a small remote corner on a gigantic is very tough.
No it wouldn't, it would just become a matter of timing the 'AI's preception of defeat to coincide with some moment in time after I determine i want the game to end. I do not object to your objection, but your solution is flawed. And yes, the games I post I played for points for myself and my team, and yes I enjoy that. They do not represent all my games. You get this for free, so im not sure what you mean by you research it first. If you build it first, depending on map conditions this is wrong, generally the first step is to expand. Once expansion is complete and tech is doing ok, then I start building improvements, and soil is always the first, it is very important, but not more important then expansion.
This reminds me of a bug that I keep forgetting to mention. If you use tidal disrupters/massdrivers etc, the negative effects of these things are not felt if you lose the combat. Now that I think about it, maybe this isnt a bug, as you could destroy a system pretty easily with just one pop. Anyway, ive noticed if I lose with massdrivers and then win with traditional, the planet suffers no negative side effects. A pretty cheesy tactic, maybe
Start searching the map for influence resources and trading for them. Its quite expensive but taking them from the AI and giving them to yourself can have a massive impact on how fast you can culturally flip their colonies. I can normally culturally flip 4-6 systems a turn. [Message Edited]
I have been on the top of many multiplayer ladder systems. I think I know the difference between a good competitive system and one that is not good. Just because you have never participated in a good ranking system, doesn't mean they dont, cant exist. You have your priorities straight and I applaud your intentions but I have been around the multiplayer community long enough to know that a flawed ranking system is like a diseased tree. The first peop
If the Metaverse is not going to be supported, it should be scrapped. Just because no system is fool proof doesnt mean that there are no good systems. Metaverse is proven to be flawed with any respect to articulating a difference between the top players. There is no difference between an 8000 game and any game higher then that, other then the desire of the player to get a higher score by building their pop in a game where all the aliens are very d
In all my dozen or so games, I have used that trick 'once'. I might use it again someday, its in by little bag of tricks, but the reason the ai can not keep up with me is because of the +2 speed which it doesnt have, as well as not being nearly so cut-throat and devious about going for strategicly important planets.
Fsk+ is right, im not sure what arturus is talking about, but its not galciv.
Allowing the AI to win by tech victory would have no effect on my scores(assuming no other changes) as the AI never gets close to a tech victory. I am assuming there will be other changes to improve the AI's chance of getting to a tech victory before a human player. As for doing a tech victory to avoid mopping up... Naw, you go for a tech victory because its worth more, pure and simple. The reason your tech victory was not worth much is just because
Yes, you need to be 'close' before you can become someones ally. The best way to do this is to establish several strong trade routes with them.
I think its pretty useless, if I lack the range to get somewhere, I just colonize a crappy planet and buy a colony ship and then jump off from there. Im talking really crappy, like PQ 1 crappy, just land a colony ship on a pq1 planet, buy a new colonyship and move all ur pop but 1 onto it. Instant range boost for a mere 171 or so down payment
Fifth is no longer first, though I cant promise to keep him out of there if he is intent on taking it back. Heya Exarch!
Social production generally is soil/habite improvement/entertainment/+morale improves Your research path is very good, though I rarely research much of it and get the vast majority in trade from computers. Your racial picks are pretty bad imo. I take +2 speed +20 pop growth and populist. Speed is expensive but you cant beat it for land grab pop growth cause that never hurts and populist cause its +20 +20 in two useful stats.
Hey, half those things I didnt even know of. Most of them I dont even use. Many of them should be fixed though! :)
