Actually you cant even take it back when you goto war with them. Once you give them a trade good, its theirs forever. Same goes for you though, on receiving a trade good.

Ive only seen the episode with that 'invisible' enemy ship, but ive seen it several times and each time it was great! Wish I could have caught some more episodes.
Well, I cant explain your results, but id be curious what your morale was in each case as that is the number I believed the elections were tied to. Perhaps if your morale is low, its very random, but with decent morale I have never lost an election.
I think this idea bears repeating in its own thread. One issue with the current scoring system is that populations that grow exceedingly large give a score that is out of preportion with the difficulty in getting that pop. Essentialy if you win the game, but before completing a victory condition, just hit turn for awhile, your score will increase. Where it stops increasing seems only limited by your patience. This may only apply to larger, more abundant m
Other then you blaming someone like me for causing the devs to edit the different victory conditions in a way that really annoyed you, I am not sure what ground we dont have in common. I know you disagree with me on the princaple that you hate me because of the previous point, but you have never really pointed out a reason that was relevent to the point. Making tradegoods unbuyable, bad idea because it would make the game harder for the players. Well duh, i
For the control N issue, as the starting PQ has such a massive impact on early success, simply making it not random would take away alot of the desire to use control N. I would perfer making the starting world a base PQ of 20 + racial bonuses, but any static amount would work. I've never seen a computer get final frontier, but I would greatly perfer that if they got it, they win you lose, game over. As it stands right now once you get past a certain poi
Ive always been pure good in so far as my enemies can see, im a master of illusion!
My last game only took me 6 hours to play and I just took the galaxy over slow to give my pop time to grow, no post ownership milking!
Try a lower difficulty to regain the challange?
AI's already buy trade good/wonders, they just dont do so instantly upon receiving the tech. and im number 3, yea me!
If you already have the most influence in a sector the AI probably wont demand the starbase if you build one If you dont have the most influence, he will probably demand it.
Laugh, the tactics I use to beat the computer, a human player would walk right over. Playing a computer vs a human is an entirely different affair. I can do either equally well, but when I do one, its to the exclusion of the other. It would be amusing to see how easily a human player can beat a computer simulation of my style.
Ouch, it is abusable? By rounding error, I meant that its not a simple rounding difference given the number of signifigant digits. There may be a rounding error in the math logic, but the amount of pop missing is much larger then the signifigance of the smallest digit displayed. Anyway, probably easier to milk your population by hitting turn then trying to milk your population like this, but still should be fixed :)
My one game where I went straight to tech victory without taking over the galaxy, it took me less then 4 hours. Im pretty sure I can do it now in about 3 hours. If im taking over the entire galaxy through cultural influence, its about 6-8 hours to finish. Through military, I imagine it would take about 10+ hours, but i havnt done it. All gigantic abundant tight cluster galaxies at masochistic level.
CodeMonkey, for the millionth time, no one is saying in this thread that the fact that the different victory conditions are worth such bizare amounts makes sense. Most people, like you, favor the victory condition to be a non factor in determing score. Your making points 'against' no one.
#47 Alexti While I think your scoring idea is a good one, especially trying to take into account the starting posistion, I still think that a victory that occurs after total galatic domination is > then a victory that occurs when you scrape by on a tech or alliance victory with owning very little of the galaxy and your scoring method would rate these as equal. I also think time should be a factor. If you could take these into acount(again I restate
Yes, who ever has the most influence in a sector owns that sector.
Well, difficulty of starting condition and time is one way to do it, but population does tell you something. It seperates a person who wins via any method after dominating the galaxy from end to end and those that squeek by with a tech or alliance victory while not even being the dominating power. I still perfer PQ instead of pop though, as it limits the time factor of growing pop, but it measures the same thing as your pop(or pq) will naturally be h
Some graphics data got lost in the memory, generally restarting and reloading the game corrects this I believe
There is some sort of resource that increases PQ but its very rare, ive never seen it
#31 Raleqh Thx though if you check my name/score you will see that it is played against masochistic already :)
So if going from 5.4 trillion pop to 23 trillion pop does not explain the change in score from 8k to 23k what does? I think you missed the point of the admitely long thread. I didnt claim to know how the score is calculated, only that how ever it is calculated when the pop is exploded to redicious levels, it starts to easily dominate the other factors that are used to determine the score. I am saddened that by the tone of your response, you will just be
Best I have had is a 35 precurser bonus that ended up being a 52 like yours :) Without the 35 precurser, I have had a planet jump to 28 from a worm event(2 higher then the 26 that is the natural norm). It ended up being a 42 I have heard of some getting over 70 in earlier versions but I dont know what the max is now.
Btw, its post #6 where I go into some detail on the PQ idea(in this thread)
#40 Cataletpic Very nice post. In a later post I mentioned an idea to deal with the population problem that I think works out very well. It involves using PQ instead of population as the measure of galatic ownership. I can think of several reasons its signifigantly superior and no signifigant problems, id apperciate your thoughts on it. I also abhore hard limits and have already discarded the idea of limiting the number of cultural flipping as
