About the AI at lower levels makes mistakes. Why not implement those routines at higher settings ? Making mistakes even for a genius is normal. Difference is that a genius is more able to correct the mistake... Nope, the AI should play at its very best on the high settings.

Thanks for the three new scenario options! Will they be usable for metaverse games as well? The fleet manager looks great too, seems like the cumbersome fleet management when lots of ships are in just one tile will soon be a thing of the past!

Congrats, Senator Magnum! I'm already looking over my shoulder though, with e-stab and Lurker joining up Don't worry, I won't have much to time play in the next days (exams...), I guess I'll drop out of the first places for the time being. <

Brad, good to see you're still with us and not turned away by either destructive comments or petty disputes. The GalCiv 2 AI certainly doesn't deserve being called "bad" or "broken" at all - I've never seen a better one in a 4X game. The "problem" is, the better the AI is in general, the more I wonder when seeing things like a wonder on a +300% p

psychoravin, it's actually you who does a good job of throwing a round of accusations based on nothing more than assumptions. It is your posting that is one of the least constructive ones here. Note that your whole list of exploits isn't needed to win, not even on Suicidal difficulty. And yes, I know what I'm talking about, thank you. (It is true that the AI builds ships faster than speed 2, in my experience AI combat ships a

By the way, here's a question to the StarDock Development Team... Why don't you use the "ESC" key to close all windows in the game, including the "Research Manager", "Planet Manager" and all others? Because, you know, closing all those windows with the mouse is quite annoying and time-consuming . I second this idea. <img src="http://images.stardock.c

Basicaly the people coming to defend the AI have not exposed its weaknesses yet via gameplay. You will eventualy. Then you will be in the same boat as the rest of us of being able to beat the game on at least tough every time. I second that. There have been postings trashing the AI which were one

Well, I certainly don't want to get on your nerves, I imagine that you have more important things to do than to check someone's score, but - it's not about the scoring of a particular game - it's pretty obvious that the calculation of the total MV score is similar to the one used in GC 1: total score divided by square root of the number of games played (per time block, but we're still in the first one I guess) - this system works for sev

Oh, and I've been reading the forum. Some people dissing my AI. You're asking for it. On intelligent level the AI is going to have its vengeance. Because I've been playing the game too and coming up with new things. So those of you who think you've got things under control are in for it. Hmm, suddenly I f

If the AI is building embassies all over then you're not playing at a high difficulty level. That's one of the low-intelligence algorithms on planet set up. Sorry Brad, I've seen it happen up to Suicidal. My 2 cents on Freudian's points: - Research: I wouldn't say the AI is horrible in it. I actually got the techs for Inve

My metaverse score ( Link ) isn't what it should be: When I add the scores of my 6 games manually and divide by the square root of 6 (this is how it goes, right?), I get 466,409. The metaverse however lists only 391,590 for some time now. Could someone please have a look at it? I had no games flagged as "cheated" and no, the score cannot be explained by using a different square root, you'd need the square root of 8.51

Taking a look at your player groups, I think I'm a realistic board gamer who has to fight down the armchair developer every once in a while. My only criticisms have been about social wastage and hints about game cheese a.k.a. AI weaknesses.

For those without medals: Did you set one of your metaverse characters as "default"? It's necessary for the forum software to know which medals to show here (even when there's only one character registered). There is a faint button in character management to do it, easy to overlook.

Hey guys, just dropping in to say that I joined the fun! Submitted a nice game today, gigantic with all settings to "occasional" is manageable for my machine, don't know about upping it more though...

And if you research Xeno Ethics and decide to align yourself with "Good", you can create that one improvement that will automatically have any race who surrenders, give themselves up to you. No, the "Hall of Empathy" only increases this chance, it doesn't give a guarantee.

What you might be seeing is some stats that might be a little out of date. Well, depends on what you call "a little out of date", I guess. Are 4 days within this time-frame? I didn't see the same thing in any other metaverse account, I calculated a few of
