Thanks for the update! Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but putting sensor modules in an economic starbase doesn't seem to work for me. I think that the new sensor cap at 15 tiles is too harsh, by the way. I agree that the former possibilties for sensor ships were way too much, but now they've almost lost their purpose - 20 or 2

A couple of suggestions: The "available builds" list in colony management always jumps to the top when you build something (both when double clicking and using the "build" button). It would be nice if this could be changed, it would allow for more convenient queueing of items down the list. Having an "old quicksave" just like the one for autosaves would be nice. When you want to change the name of a planet (possibly the
Now if it only would use a better font You've got a point there, it really is difficult to read.
Thanks for your elaborate report, Burianek, it was a very interesting read! I agree with most (if not all) what you say, especially that there's a lot of strategic depth in the game that cannot be seen at the first glance. And I imagine that new players can feel a bit hard-pressed at first by all the decisions you can make in the game. I'd like to tell them: Don't give up, it'll be worth it! <img src="smiles/Congrats.gif" border=0 ALIG
A very interesting article, I especially like the last part: Transparency is key. Be open and honest with people and MOST people will respect that. Tell people what problems you think you have and what problems you think you don't have and let people decide for themselves. Don't try to "control" the flow of information. Stay ahead of the curve and make sure y
The game is great! Nevertheless I second the notion of some glitches that should be adressed, e.g. when moving a ship out of a bunch of ships (not a real fleet), then the bunch of ship stays selected instead of the ship you just moved - or resources not being usable (until reload) when the starbase on them is destroyed. But these are minor issues which will hopefully be eliminated.</
I had a graphics issue yesterday at release time, and thanks to a helpful dev in chat a workaround was found rather quickly.
Yes, I agree.
My sincere condolences, Dearmad!
There's at least one person that had the same problem using non-English WinXP - and the same "fix" helped: Link .
Guillermo Peral, even though you're not using Win2k, you might want to try the same, there's already one other person with WinXP where it helped.
You're not running Win2k, but you might want to try what is described in response #2 in this thread: Link . Good luck!
spmon, have you tried what is described in response #2 in this thread: Link ? It eliminated the problem for me.
12*12*24*24=82944 The gigantic galaxy in GC1 was even 28x28 IIRC, giving you 12*12*28*28 = 112896 which is almost the double of 57600.
I have seen this before, we are trying to track it down. When I had it I saved the game and restarted GalCiv2. When I loaded the game again it seamed to be back to normal. Give that a try and let us no if it helps. I had the same problem several times yesterday, and save and reload did help indeed.
Stardock support found a (temporary) solution to the above mentioned problem: If you set the country settings in the control panel to "English (US)", the graphics in the game should be fine - at least they are for me. Better don't ask why and how that works, it sounds like evil magic.
To throw in my two cents and to set some people at ease maybe, I am using non-English Win2k (SP4) and the game runs, it's just that the ship and planet graphics are somewhat "hollow" - don't know how to put that better. I contacted support and they said it will be taken care of. If not, I'll keep bugging here.
You can tell that this reviewer spent quite a bit of time with the game. Always a good sign. Yes, good point!
Link Very positive in general, although the guy is talking crap at some points.
And it will be around 8 pm until release here... It's even worse: 3pm EST is 21:00 h in continental Europe.
This thread got me interested. Is there anything weird to expect when changing the nickname in the "My Account / Personal Information"? Or will it just work flawlessly for all the Stardock sites? Any response will be much appreciated!
You get this report by clicking on enemy ships, I think. Don't know whether you need a certain espionage level for it though.
jc3k, did you use the Stardock Central feature to get an email with the serials of all games you own? Maybe this will show you the right thing to enter in the SDC configuration.
Yes, it's less than 200 MB in this case IIRC.
