For Political Parties and Starbase Modules you need to take care of a propper numbering. This was the source of a lot of pain. In general you need to be carefull with text placeholders. When you change the number or the order of them it can lead to a CTD (crash to desktop).

Hi Frogboy, maybe you could give T-Man some free time to make the long overdue GC1 Metaverse aging*. This would really help to keep GC1 attractive. Thank you always for this great series of games. I'm a fan since good old GC2 times (for OS/2 ) and bought all sequels since that time (GC2 Gold, GC1, AP, GC2). *Currently your data only ages when you submit anything. Thus noone who

I have GalCiv Writer 2.0.0-alpha11 running on my PC. You need to check the "List Files from" checkboxes and then start "Edit -> e.g. Events". The "Files in storage" field is just for the case that you want to copy any files. The only source for the prog I found is here http://www.neotechgaming.com/forums/index.php?act=dscript&CODE=showdetails&f_id=2316 I don't know if it's alpha10 or alpha11. It was never in the game. It was in a beta (I think it was the beta of AP) for a short time but never made it in a final. GC2 does have a suicidal difficulty.

You are on the wrong place. Go to http://www.galciv2.com and post in the "Support & Bugs" forum. A private comment from me. Overall the Stardock folks are very helpfull and really try to do their best to help their customers. I know that you are disappointed because of your individual experience with the game. But you have a much better chance to get help when you would not flame and call the game buggy etc. At the end the problem is very often found somewhere else and it is simply coin

Hi coldfusion2400, it doesn't work for me, too. Post your problem on www.neotechgaming.com. I'm confident that they will help you.

Sure you can improve them. I always colonize PQ14 and very often PQ 13 planets. I do it for two reasons. Influence and alignment. General rule is that you can colonize all planets you can get to 15 or higher. In very seldom cases I even colonize inferior planets either because of strategic reasons (to culture flip an AI) or because it's one of the seldom very high influence planets http://www.galciv1.com/forum.asp?BID=GS&id=204546#204546 But I do that only during endgame. Hi Easy Bake, welcome to the game :-) There are a lot of beginners tips here and in the Strategies forum (click on left side). The most important is: don't buy anything, it's much too expensive. Adjust your economy sliders. Increase/lower tax rate until you get 100% moral (=approval) and keep 100% moral for the first couple of turns. Set spending to 100% and Military to 100% until you got all the colony ships you need.

The calculation is done in blocks depending on the time of the submission of each game. The blocks are the following: block 0: 0-30 days. no aging block 1: 31-60 days. 5% aging block 2: 61-90 days. 10% aging block 3: 91-120 days. 15% aging block 4: 121-150 days. 20% aging block 5: 151-220 days. 25% aging block 6: 220-290 days. 30% aging block 7: 291 and more days. 35% aging The calculation in each block is done with this formular: block score

The score shows up directly. For me I have a clear indication when it worked and when not. When it worked it takes some time, when not, it finishes immediately. The two main reasons why it does not work are: 1) A temporary system down time. In this case load the EndGame.sav and submit again on another day. 2) You registers player name http://www.galciv1.com/playerreg.asp or your email address does not match the alias and the address you use when you submit.

Start with the Encyclopedia (link above). When a link is broken, replace "galciv" with "galciv1", e.g. for the FAQ the link is http://www.galciv1.com/faq/faq.html In the Strategies area you can find many tips. For beginners and experts. There are also some good fan sites like NeoTech http://www.neotechgaming.com/forums/ and the Galactic Core http://www.thegalacticcore.com/ and very important for beginners is JavaScout's side http://webpages.charter.net/trevorpowdrell/index.htm

@Ynglaur My problem is only when I start the program and is definitely not related to paging or other low end machine problems. It does not occur when I start a new game (this is too fast to read the popup with the tips). The machine has 2 GB RAM and only 7 MB are used from the program when the problem occurs. Thus I don't think that your problem is related to this one in any way. @AngleWyrm I already tried to switch this option on or off. It doesn't make a

To get trade routes running you need to research trade and build frighters (build them on the star with the highest income). Send the frighters to foreign stars. Alternatively you can change frighters for technology in the diplomacy screen (diplo boni really help, you need to research some technologies the AIs don't have). Advantage is, that the frighter is already near by the AI stars and you get the money much earlier. On the diplo screen you can exchange money (not in maso g

Version 1.2 and the problem still exists. Any idea? Could it be that it takes so looong to get the DXDiag info, and what can I do about that? I reinstalled DirectX 9.0c but it didn't help.
changing GC1 to AP1
This wasn't the trick. For me it was simply use the GC serial for AP as described in this thread. Did you double check spelling like 1 and l and 0 and O and upper vers. lower case etc.? Stardock is a small firm and currently a little bit under water due to the GC2 launch. IMHO they do their very best to help their customers in all aspects. It's a great firm but they are still human beings. Try to send another mail and describe yo

There are two main reasons for problems. Number one is the spelling (lower/upper case, underscore vers. space etc.) of your alias and mistypes in your email or wrong email. The second reason are temporary server problems. The web side is down several times a week. Just keep your Endgame.sav and try it the next day again.
