we decided to err on the side of generosity because that generally results in less ranting These are the things you need to know to get the development lead <img

You can use the GalCiv Writer for editing the text files http://www.neotechgaming.com/forums/index.php?act=dscript&CODE=showdetails&f_id=2001 AFAIK Cari did offer some grafics tools in a thread in this mod forum.
Check this thread please: http://www.galciv1.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&ID=204770#204774
AFAIK you don't need the Stardock Central. It's still a good idea to use it to get the newest patches, though. You need to register your player here http://www.galciv1.com/playerreg.asp When you finish a game while having an internet connection you are asked if you want to submit. You need to use exactly the same name there and exactly the same email which you used to register your game and your player. The game uses the proxy/internet settings of the Internet Explorer
On the screen where you choose the AI opponents you can select the intelligence level for each AI.
First of all I want to thank you for addressing all these issues. This game gets better and better. #19 by BoogieBac [Stardock] I'll definatly talk to Cari (head of ship movement) about the instant ship movement. Yes, please. <img src
You should keep moral above 54% on each planet to keep the population growing. Mine moral ressources, research moral enhancing technologies, build moral boosters on the planets with the lowest moral (like Entertainment Network) and finally you can lower the taxes (but I never go below 29% tax rate).
I guess you need some more experience to master the game. Either you reduce your difficulty level in the game and try to find out by yourself, or you study some strategy threads and FAQs :p These badges are for Metaverse activities. The first one is the emblem of my empire, the other ones can be found here http://www.galciv1.com/metaverse/legend.asp
Either you need to be strong enough (military and economic is evaluated) or give them gifts (techs, money) when they become wary until your relationship gets better.
A map editor came with the AP addon.
All productive and trade boni work in the sector where the starbase is placed. (This is different in GC2 where the sectors are irrelevant and the distance is important (8 tiles, right?).) Influence boni work in the sector and it's adjacent sectors (as fare I remember as fare as two sectors) and add to overall influence. Mining boni are civilization boni, i.e. independent of the location of the starbase.
I could not submit this morning, too. But now it worked for me. Please try again.
I may be able to put up an unofficial test build with my changes later today as a link. I would be pleased to help you to make it rock solid. I have a nice test set of PCs on my hand. From a Athlon 500 with 256 MB, a 128 MB ATI card and Win98SE to a Athlon 64 3000+ with an Nvidia card and a Pentium IV 3200 with onboard Intel. The latter ha
Hi Stardock, I now have 1.1 final and the problem still exists. I guess that it has something to do with the DirectX infos the game is asking for. Is there any possibility to skip that or do you have an idea how to improve that? As mentioned before the specs like grafic chip, driver version, DirectX version etc. are identical on the second machine but the problem is only on my main machine. I'rm running out of ideas. Please help
Here is the link for the history file: http://sdcentral.stardock.com/public/gc1/production/history.htm My memory for pure GC1 vanishes since I didn't play it for a long time. For me AP was definitely worth the money. I rarely use the new ships and I don't know if I would miss logistics :p but two more races give a more diversified gameplay and the campaign was some good amusement. The major advantage is that it makes it a lot easier to get these 60k for Metaverse (thou
Very interesting. The logic is very fuzzy. Some things to consider: - Earth already reaches the income cap which is four times PQ. You can get higher values i.e. 86 but it is very limited and thus you have the same values for 50% and 45%. - Planets have the same population growth between 54% and 99% but it doubles at 100%. But again there is a cap of 200b people per turn. Overall it is very hard to get hard facts what to do. Fact is that you do need populatio
Comments on Vorlin Varelse's points 1. Usually I don't build any manufactoring devices on planets other than my two to three bests which I use to build trade goods/wonders. I tend to have lots of planets, and could not afford high spending rates otherwise which I need to get the the special projects build timely. 4. There is no upkeep for starbases anymore. It was removed in a patch a long time ago (though the demo might still have it). In AP they invented logistics instead where on
Espionage does three things for you. 1) You get some intelligence knowledge about the races (what do they research etc.). 2) You avoid the diplomatic accident which eventually pushes you in an unwanted war. 3) You can steal a technology. The most important one for me is 2). I start with espionage once I finished the rush period (rush for planets, rush for ressources, rush for the first trade goods/wonders) and don't have too big money trouble anymore. I us
You can edit you initial post and set the sub-forum. This hworked for me
Did anymody try to run the game with WINE http://www.winehq.com/ ? Performance should not be an issue. The application database http://appdb.winehq.org does not yet show up something valuable for GC. I would really appreciate when Stardock could support a GC on WINE project. I think in the end this would pay off. Any LINUX geeks at Stardock? <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Congrats.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmi
This post got posted to GalCivII forums but not the bugs forums. Don't know why. I'm reposting it. This happened for me two times You can change the sub-forum afterwards, when you edit the initial post.

Since this former sticky https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=274&AID=104831 seems to be outdated and I was asked to create a new thread, I start this one. I have a serious (at least for me) problem on my main machine. The game takes very loooooong to start. It's more than 5 minutes On a very similar computer with the same
The problem did exist in version 1.0X, too.
No, debug.err is a standard feature from the game. SmartException delivers more info in case of a crash. Yes, the resolution is identical to the normal resolution and it is on 32bit. Without the quickstart option it runs fine (apart from the very loooong time it needs to start). It does not help to reduce the resolution, too. It's totally unacceptable to force someone to the regional setting U.S. to play the game. I on
