I would be interested in the outcome. Please tell us the result.

It makes quite a big difference which ethic decisions you make. You can check your current alignment in the domestic policy menu. Choose statistics and the in the upper left corner the social button. The alignment of the aliens can be seen in the forreing policy menu in the info section. But this is what you have choosen at the start options of the game. There are a couple of technologies only available for the good and evil races. e.g. you need to have an alignment of
amazon.de i.e. the German side. Is it possible to get the goodies when you order outside USA? Please tell me how
Does that mean that I can buy the game here online and I can still get a localized version? Can anyone answer this question?
Shipping for all countries outside US is $10, I think. It's still not bad though But don't forget that it is very likely that you will have to pay customs duty This can be 20$ or more.
Most of us are aware that the purple stars have a higher influence than the yellow stars (yellow stars have an base influence value of 10 - 14). Earth has a base influence of 20. But I guess that only a few know that there are often some planets with very high base influence value (I think up to 60). When you have unfolded the map and have a solid economic basis (you need to invest a few thousand bc), go to the planet list (F2) and choose stars. Then sort for influence. Now ch
Double post. When I hit the Edit button of #25 I end up on https://www.galciv2.com/showMsg.aspx?Msg=0 with a nearly empty screen with a blue box which contains a 0 Remark: I could edit this post but not the two above. i.e. it seem to be possible to edit the last post but not the messages before. (And no, there was no time-out. I immediately tried to edit the post after submitting.)
There are no more OmegaDrivers for Win98SE. Is it possible to get GC2 run on a Win98SE machine with a Radeon 9250 (the 128Bit / 128MB version)? On the ATI side the newest version is Catalyst® Version 5.9 which I already got. Is there any test I can perform to make sure that the game will run?

I have read in an interview with Brad that he plans to make patches for localized versions available via Stardock Central and that the language is only defined by a registry entry. Does that mean that I can buy the game here online and I can still get a localized version?
Did you see the German data files in the sticky thread from above? There is a new version for 1.22. After installation and archiving sinply replace the complete GalCiv\Data folder with the content of the ZIP file and you have German texts. For AP I created a small patch by myself. But only for the main screen and the ressource dialog. Not for the campaign etc.
Hi Lino, unfortunately I don't know. Definitely you can't get the newest patches without Stardock Central. But you can download it via Stardock Central on any computer and transfer it to another without internet connection via the build in archive funtction. Thus if you have a friend with a flat rate he could do it for you. Then install Stardock Central on your target computer and install from the archive. [Message Edited]
You get a very poor score for technology wins. Have a look here http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&id=198647#198686 I have always switched off the technology win option. It's pretty worthless when you are looking for points :sniff!: Other things which have a big influence on your score: - a win after January 2190 gives you double the score - high population before 2190 relative to the AI - won military battles You don't need war ships to get a military
By the way, it's a good idea to buy the game :d
Corvette Technology gives you Corvette in the regular game. I don't know about the demo in detail. But it is on a very old patch level. The game mechanics did change quite a lot since that time.
This is a known unfixed bug. I happens not only with Intel grafics but with Nvidia and ATI as well. Developer told us that it is a pain in the ass to maintain the machine code written grafics which where written from a guy who is not working for Stardock anymore. :notsure: By the way, GC2 has a completely new grafics engine and seems not to have these kind of problems any more. You don't need to switch off battles. It is enough to switch off the explosions.
Yes, the problem is a wrong text in English.str. I emailed the fix to Cari but did not yet get a reply. It happens when the orbit of a star is full. You can't build any ships anymore since there would be no room to place them. There are two problems with the text. One is that it uses the wrong place holder. The other is that it is too long for long star names. i.e. with Earth it would work but with MySuperGoodPlanet it would still crash. Thus I reduced the text lenght. Make a c
While beta testers seem pretty pleased with the performance On a 3 GHz machine things look quite different as on a 500MHz machine. Keep up your good work. Even small issues are worth to look after them. Customers should spend their money for your software and not for new hardware <img src="smiles/Ew.gif" border
Very nice story indeed
I would open the CD with the explorer and hit Alt+Print. Then open any picture tool and use Ctrl+v to get the picture in there. Then save it as ".jpg" or ".gif". I could be totally wrong but this is what I understood. [Message Edited]
Yes, I thought it is the answer to his own question ... I would expect it at the same day or maybe the next. But I bought my games in shop thus I don't know :notsure:
Hi Zaqnock, a warm welcome to you. Nice that there are new players around. :CONGRAT:
It does not make a difference how many times you save but it makes a difference how many times you load. :p Each time you load the AI get's an additional diplomacy round, i.e. they change technologies, make peace/war etc. This can help the AI to be significantly faster in the tech tree. Another problem I have with a reload is the bug that the survey ships don't find the space junk anymore. Thus I avoid to reload whenever I can.
Wow, it looks very promising. I'm sure you will do another good job Thank you very much again for my favorite game serial (I bought all of them since GC2 for OS/2, it all startet with the demo at that time) Some comments and wishes to the screen shots (only minor things, I'm sure the big things will be perfect anyway): 1. I would like to know the home planet of a ship on the ship details screen. When you foc
