I would be interested in these numbers, too. Usually I choose the race I trade with according to my diplomatic needs. I simply choose the star with the biggest population.

A known advantage of the AI is that they know where the yellow stars are. In my experience the AI does not need to search for ressources, too. They build the first constructors very fast (rush buy?) and send them on the way. When I play on big maps I disclose the map via cheat codes to get the positions of the yellow stars and the ressources. (You will not be able to submit to Meta unless you reload a game saved before switching on cheat codes.) I still never

To have a current backup is always a good idea. You can do that with the Stardock Central. It creates a ZIP file which can be reinstalled with the Stardock Central. And yes, there is an option to start a game with mods or without mods. This flag was invented some time ago. Nowadays you install the mods in the folders below the Mods folders. Elements with the same name in the original games get replaced when you activate the mods (this is the default).

Hi Neireh, a warm welcome to you. GalCiv is a great game and I'm sure you will enjoy it. When you consider to join an empire, don't forget to visit the Jedi Republic http://www.galciv.com/metaverse/empires.asp?id=336 before you make your mind ;p [Message Edited]

I don't know if Stardock or anyone else will offer a Mac version. But I heard that LINUX users could use it with WINE. Thus it should run on OS X when there is a similar emulator available. A major problem remains the updates wia Stardock Central which is Win only.
I needed to get to a star 1 sector out of my reach so i built a starbase to increase range. It took me 60 months and it did nothing
I remember that there was a version with this bug. Which version do you use? Can you update via Stardock Central?

Hi Sirian, nice to hear from your after such a long time and nice to hear that you had a good time. But you are right, brevity was never your biggest talent :D You should give GC another try. The mods from Icho do make a big difference. [Message Edited]

Yes, mining is empire wide. Culture modules have a effect not only in one sector distance but in two. But the effect decreases from the sector itself to adjacent sectors and a distance of two sectors. Additionally they add to your overall influence like distant planets do, too. i.e. when you add culture modules you will see a small effect in all sectors where you have any influence after some while. This is in contrast e.g. to production, trade and military modules wh

Check the "Starbase FAQ" message underneath. You can build a starbase everywhere. All you need is a constructor and a hit on the button "Build starbase" :p

One advice is not to fight with them. These ships cost maintanance and weaken the economy of the AI. You can lurk powerfull ships in remote regions with fast ships like scouts etc. All you need is good sensors and speed. This is why I always try to get "Gravity Accelerators" and "Eyes of the Universe" Concentrate on intercepting transports and defending your starbases. It should be sufficient to max your starbase defenced with defence modules (send constructors). Thou

A little late, but that's what I found. When you mine a military ressource and gane 5% military boost, that gives you 5% for defense and 5% for your attack ability. Both defence and attack ability operate on your ships basic values. Unfortunately the outcome is always rounded down. e.g. when your ship has a basic defence value of 5 you need to have a boost of 20% before you can see anything (i.e. your new value is 6). With 19% it's still 5! It is the very sa

No, the module should affect your sector influence and your total influence. But the calculation is quite complex and GC always rounds down. Thus this effect can happen. It's the same for economics, moral etc. You won't see a big effect of a 5% moral boost for your civilization abilities. But these effects accumulate and make a big difference in the end.

Hi Dave, you have played a handfull games and already know that the scores are "rediculous" and "There has to be some cheating going on!". The score limit is 60k. You automatically get 60k when you win on a gigantic map after Jan 2190. Technician and some others showed us how to get an alliance win in about 1 hours. I did never achieved that simply because I did not have fun when I tried to do so. My games last about 20-50 hours. But I know that it is possible to win
