The GROSS command crew gather on the deck of the Survey Ship Doom. Pontius looks around the table: "These charts, on the table before us, contain our master plan for the complete assimilation of the Metaverse. Today, I will reveal those plans to you. Needless to say, this is TOP secret.." EBZ: "Captain, before you go on...did you see that guy in the red t-shirt in the forward deck. I didn't recognise him?" Ger: "I DID see someone, but in a yellow t-shirt. What gives?" Kit: "Nah...you

I am trying...[sniff]...just breached the 20,000 barrier with my first win at challenging :CONGRAT: Seriously - what are we going to do if there are only a few of us left in this outfit? :notsure:
I'm with Khan - Australia Day is January 26th! Ah, bugger it - Aussies don't need an excuse to party!! Cheers! LOL
Fair enough, EBZ! LOL I've obviously been trying to be serious for FAR TOO LONG -pass me the glue slop, and let me get back out to the sheep pens, where the real fun is!!
OOOPS - and that fact that I posted this twice does NOT mean I feel twice as strongly about it!
Pontius and EB: Thanks for your replies. I'm not looking for an ongoing debate, but wanted to just clarify where I was coming from.
Lets not dictate what eb should think is honorable and fun
Not trying to do this. Just trying to tell you MY reactions to the tactic and I gather EB is not the only one who does it.
I disagree with the Technician Theory of the Metaverse: deliberately playing way below your skill all the time to have faster, easier games
I ws just driving by quickly to check out the state of play when I came across this issue. Are people really doing this? Is EB sitting down for days at a time just pushing through beginner/small map after map, even though he is doubtless capable of playing at a much higher level? And does Technician (who I don't know) do the same?
AAARGH...NO...MORE....Wombat smashes through front windscreen of BattleCruiser Waltzing Matilda, slides past fox tail on aerial and impales self on opal encrusted emu hood ornament before drifing off into space........ [Read: Neverwinter Nights expansion pack just hit the streets here - have to take a sabbatical to check things out...see ya]
Hmmm....time to crack a tinny and hit the couch. Put the drop bears to bed. We shall waste no sheep here. We might send you a Wiggles tape to help you sleep. ;)
But if Harry Potter comes again, we are really going to subject him to the cruelest tortue - American and Aussie children shows!
LMAO! - nice one, Ray
Na-na-na---na-na-na-na---na-na one banana, two banana, three banana, four...OH NO...AARRRGGGHHHH!!!!
The White Council gather around their large oaken table, attempting their weekly divination of Tattslotto numbers and the winner of the fourth race on Saturday. A small boy enters and stands, tapping his foot impatiently on the ground. Ray: "Yes, young man? How can the august wizards of the White Council assist you? Do you wish to learn the ways of magic?" Boy: "Don't be stupid....I'm HARRY POTTER!" The boy whips out a wand and points it threateningly at the table.
A small, unassuming yellow space dinghy docks with the Survey Ship Doom...... In the GROSS officers mess, the eevil ones are engaged in their weekly tiddlywinks game.... Pontius: [just missing for the seventh time] "God DAMN this blasted game....that Farmer plephart just told me he'd wipe the floor with me at 'winks...I am SO going to OWN that midwestern hick after I get this right..." Gerakken: "Yes, fearless leader [carefully placing shotgun out of reach]...practice
We were born of blood, sweat and tears
What's this? The Children of the Corny are back? Wasn't Blood Sweat and Tears a rock group? I can see we did not mix in enough emu oil with the assimilation nanovirus - the MWC again have delusions of grandeur. We shall have to muster our resources again - more work for the ANZAC fauna..... And welcome back on the air, boys ;)
The B-in-P are getting out? Geez...I heard they were in for 25-to-life for doing over that teddy bear last year.....yeah, they'd be great [eyes glaze over thinking of possibilities] And Humphrey? Silent but deadly! And the Northern Hemisphere has NO idea what we're talking about.....
Undead Canucks....ewwwww! Where are these damn Canadians, anyway? Haven't been able to get a sheep near 'em.....
Kiwi Greg - I had heard that players had difficulties 'leveling', as it's more a Morrowind type of game ie level by doing things. This led to situations where a craftsman would have to make a low level item, destroy it, make it again etc to improve skills. Also, was there a genuine "Starwars" flavour about the environment? Will there be Jedi strolling around? Pontius - I'm a tart but I'm not cheap! ;p
I think it depends on what strategy you're going for. I play a game which is heavy on the diplo - I trade for tech and keep the AIs poor (and thus with little defensive cover on most planets). Corvettes are relatively cheap, easy to rush, and will knock over loose defenders - and if you have enough, battle axes - and don't cost the earth in maintainence. I find you can really whip through mil takeovers with corvettes and transports.
Good one Kiwi Greg! Hey, how does it count as the finest work if God ended up changing most of the Blokes to sheep? ;p And BTW - did you try out SWG? Stuff on the Net suggests it's looking pretty crap..... The Wiggles - don't knock the Wiggles - I think we should appoint them to our crack commando unit, they have a future.... Bakka - YES!! The Galah Squad! OK - now if RayChua asks you why you haven't submitted your third Crippling game for the week, you can look him i
But like you say what's left for me after mastering the game and drifting away and back?
I hear you, Ray - I'm certainly not trying to trash talk any of the real powerhouses. No software author can make a game infinitely difficult, to KEEP appealing to the top echelon, though. I thought Frogboy had the intention of taking Metaverse submitted games and using them to revamp the game's AI code? That's about the best plan I've heard after years of playing Civ3,etc. This at
Hey Space Wombat, even I get tired of the sheep jokes
Kit - you should get out more. Travel around the threads...you'l find a whole world of ANZAC flora and fauna has been set loose upon the Metaverse. And we do not molest out sheep...we REVERE them.....
But you wouldn't have respected me in the morning if I had.
Ignore this Chris - he wouldn't have respected you anyway! Hey team - I need an ANZAC mascot for my elite new NSAC unit (No-Skill-All-Commitment). I am determined to pull myself up the rankings despite being a clueless wombat, by playing till my paws fall off. Give me an ANZAC native creature that symbolises "No skill all commitment"!
I think Pontius has it absolutely right - you're going to play this game 'cause you like it, or just get totally pissed off with the scoring. I'm going to start recruiting for my elite ANZAC NSAC Unit (No Skill All Commitment) to dominate the Metaverse! The heavy hitters who are into working out how to eke out that extra 1.659% score bonus are asking for a stroke. I've recorded 20 wins, and if you look I've gradually gone from simple, to beginner, to normal. I may, sometime around the year 2200,
Anzac and the white council like us. Guess they have finally learned their place.
And you gained this impression where, exactly? Our place as Masters of the Southern Hemisphere we claim by divine right...we shall uphold goodness in the Metaverse. Even those who have fallen for from grace shall be assimilated....
