They didn't ask you for chocolate?
No, not even that... no chocolate, no hugging... 'just wanted to say hello.' :p

Yesterday I really exploded with laughter when the AI did the strangest thing I ever saw in this game: In the midgame, during the Drengin's turn, they contacted me (diplo/trade screen appearing), so I thought they wanted to exchange techs or bully me - but they offered no deal of any kind and the text said: "We just wanted to say hello." LOL [Message Edited]
Yeah, most of the wishes here are more realistic for galciv2 than for the expansion... ;)
Ah, this looks nice but isn't exactly what I'm looking for... I'd prefer the empire-building-alliance-making stuff. :)
Wow that was a FAST answer! LOL I'll have a look at it. btw, the arachnids are doing pretty good at the moment! :CONGRAT:
I'd like to play some online strategy game again, and as a quick look at google shows, there are plenty of them: http://directory.google.com/Top/Games/Internet/Browser_Based/Strategy/ I have no idea which of them are good, but maybe someone can give me advice. I'm looking for a game with: - Fantasy or SciFi setting - free - turn-based - about one turn/day or similiar speed - I don't want to spend three days reading manuals before starting to play - most
No, that doesn't help. The opposite is true, it's a waste of resources. Only one planet can build and finish a wonder or tradegood, so when you build it on more then one and the first finishes, all the production on the others is lost. But many Wonders, like eyes og the universe, help all your shipes or planets once you finished it, not matter where you finished it. So it is a good idea to have one or a few planets with high production - choose worlds with high PQ and give them all
I'd like to see planets with more 'personality'. I DON'T want to care for how much oxigen is in the atmosphere, how strong the gravity is and stuff like that. Keep it simple and abstract. For example, split PQ into three values: - habitation PQ (to determine pop growths and morale) - production PQ (to determine production) - economic PQ (to income from taxes and traderoutes) So a planet with 17,17,17 would be like an old PQ17 planet, one with 15,16,24 is a ugly bu
One reason why I like being able to play galciv on Frankenstein (I gave this name to my computer because it was put together from parts of dead computers ;) ) is that I tried the same with civ3.... waaaaaah... in the endgame, the computer needed about 10 minutes to do his turn.
LDICesare: Yeah, I read your report, pretty interesting. I can't discuss it more specific now while the challenge is still running, but one thing that immediatly caught my eye was that a certain star system (I think you knwo which one I mean) played a very important roll in both our games. About screenshots: Just pres the "Print Screen"-key, then open a new file in Paint or another graphic program and paste it. That's all. :) Ray: 2188, wow, that was pretty fast!
Hey, Frogboy&Co, if you're reading this, my advice: If you start to work on galciv2 in one or to or three years, DON'T TELL ANYBODY. If you do, all your fans will keep asking over and over again "When will it be released? Could you add this feature? Will that be changed? I want this done that way!" and so on and you will have no quite minute left to work. ;) Start working in secret and just tell us when it's nearly finished! (You know what people want for galciv2 from this forum
See here: http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&ID=71726#72231 ;)
Medium map is slowing down, but only a tiny little bit. I doesn't really disturb me - it's still only seconds I have to wait sometimes, never minutes like with some other 4X games. :)
...or: Wherever I get it FASTER! LOL
The more irritating one for me is the autopilot autoattack during war where the autopiloted ship will attack any enemies in its path.
Yep, that one is really annoying: Had a frigate on my way... three sectors to cross to target planet... auotpilot - meet heavy upgraded starbase... no frigate. To prevent this, I usually don't use the autopilot in times of war = lot's of micromanagement.
I have to say, I LIKE that they are so rare. Otherwise it wouldn't be a special event, it would just be a standard feature of the game. The same with the different minor races/event like terrorist, fundamentalists, Draginol... makes the single games more unique. :)
After upgrading to 1.05.071, the game is running very stable and smoothly. (Even on a system below minimal requirements: http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&id=71726#72231) Some small UI improvements (planet's list autorefreshs when changing sliders) make the gameplay much more comfortable. Minor races are, in my opinion, to weak. Especially their willingness to pay you 100+ for a year or longer when you offer them a handfull of nice techs, and being willing to make the same kind of
Sorry, Mojo, but "evil and "good" are just settings that you can change - that has nothing to do with the AI itself.
Most likely to demand tribute/go to war: Drengins Arceans Yor Alterians Torians
I think this can't be said in general, for the alignment plays a large role, along with other factor. I'm ususally playing chaotic evil, and the Altarians are usually the ones that are most agressive against me, not the Drengin or Yor...
Arceans: Huge production bonuses (I think?)
Nope. The AI only gets bonuses when set to Genius or Incredibl
Just two things I'd like to see: 1. GAME SETTINGS: Number of resources in galaxy. I think it would make very different challenges wether you play on a map where a resource is in every 2nd sector, or on a map with only 3-4 resources at all. 2. DEFENSE SATELLITES: I don't know if it is possible to code this, but when you could make ships which are not able to leave the orbit, it would be an easy way to implement some satelitte defense system. I think this would be coo
The most important thing, in my opinion, is to give them some ships. In my last game, a minor popped up in a system two parsecs next to one of mine. So I just bought a transport and sent it over before they could build a single ship to defend themselfes.
Enough ships so that it has a military rating of 100 or 200, so it isn't an automatic invasion target. The ships should be of the best quality currently available, or maybe even 1 rating better.
But I think that isn't the
Well, I'd really like to see something in between - normal is a bit easy for me, but masochistic... I tried it one or two times and I didn't have a chance. :notsure: ;p But for me, the main reason I participated at the GOTM was not to be the best, but to have the possibility to compare how different players handle the same scenario, I think a lot can be learned from that. :)
I finished a small map without any trouble. I just started a medium one, and so far it's going fine. :)
...but out of boredom and just to see what happens I just installed galciv on a computer that I had put together out of old trash they were thowing out at the office. It has a Pentium somewhat with 440MHz, 128MB Ram, and at least on a small Map, galciv is running smoothly without trouble. :HOT: ~SDC~
