I was just playing my last game, and I came across a new cheese that's just begging to see the light of day, so here goes. When you blockade a planet that has trade going on with another planet, something interesting happens. All alien mini-freghters that arrive at the planet will stop dead in their tracks, never to move again. You can merrily remove the blockade once all the freighters have been stopped, and they will remain right there, one sector from the planet, generating just a ha

Hah! In his infinite slowness to post his mods, I have one-upped Nand1 by posting my own mods :P ...now to get them approved... :)
Woohoo! I made it back up to #10! But mauler28 just joined and he's #9... :( Oh well, in-empire competition is even better ;)
Just came across an interesting one in my last game that can be used as an exploit. If you blockade a planet that is getting trade, alien minifreighters will stop when they reach it and will be forever stuck until they are destroyed. The good side of this is that they continue to give whatever amount they were generating when they stopped, so someone could use this to always get the maximum amount from all his (alien-established) trade routes.
Populsion Theory> Artificial Gravity + Cold Fusion> Impulse Drive> Antimatter> Warpdrive Defense Theory> Battlearmor + Deflectors> Shields + Space Militarization Weapons Theory> Phasers> Energy Channeling> Interstellar Tactics Battleship Thats the ONLY way. You have to hit the prerequisites to get battelship, unless you trade for it. [Message Edited]
Another option id for the previous owner of the game to email stardock with the new owner's e-mail asking Stardock to change or update the e-mail
Or, as I said above, just log in wincustomize and do it yourself. The only things you would need SD's help to do is change the name and alias on the account... but changing those isn't as vital to using the game as gaining access to the account in general.
Nothing to be confused about, the statement you quote is (partly) wrong. Military resources simply give the stated bonus on your mining starbase (starts at 5% and goes up as you add modules) as a direct boost to your ships' attack and defense ratings. For example, if you have a newly claimed military resource at 5%, an anti-matter missile will be boosted from its base attack of 100 to 105. The other resources have much more complicated ways of being applied to your empire, such
I was thinking that defense might increase the deterrent value of the blockade, so I pumped out a bunch of defenders supplemented by a couple of BC that raced over from nearby stars once the friendly Drengin declared war on the minor.
Nope, all that matters is that the Dregin aren't at war with YOU so they don't attack your blockade :)
THIS IS NOT THE RESPONSIBILITY OF STARDOCK I'm sorry if you think it is people, but if you decide to sell GalCiv to a used game retailer (which IMHO you'd have to be insane to do, because GC is a great freakin' game), it is YOUR and only YOUR responsibility to relinquish your account to whomever next owns it. All you need to do is include your email and password with the game as well as directions for going to wincustomize.com and changing that information. If you don't want to do this
It was determined as 40 I believe, so just keep plugging along and you'll get there :)
Ray never sleeps--he's either awake and on his computer, or he's in his alcove and directly wired to his computer :D
I'm eagerly waiting to see how far Nand1 has run with the ideas I gave him... And from his description, it sounds like pretty far :D
TADA!!
Hey, at least it wasn't pontius's magic stripes of gaudy death like were in that one thread....
I prefer the production capacity view, since the population view generally turns into a big blobby mess of colors after a good bit into the game... but I can still use it to see all of an enemy's planets as soon as I meet them (without having to find them firsthand) :D
Heh, Cotal's departure dropped ANZAC down to 5th place... smooth sailing for us MWCers now ;)
You can also get more through the UP issue, if it gets proposed.
do I get a referral fee of some sort
Ah, our wizardly friend. We hope you received our gift, a big red bouncing ball. Did you bounce the ball? We felt that such entertainments would amuse your kind. LOL LOL LOL
I agree, late-game minors should really be able to fend for themselves--else, what's the point?
Note that without difficulty adjustement, this rating is simply map size vs. submission frequency :P
It's good that GC is getting some coverage, but I wish it was in PCG... CGW has really gone to pot in the past couple of years :notsure:
FYI windows has a built-in program called msconfig that can manage startup programs, etc. but there's no shortcut so you'll need to make one or just use the run box. I heartily agree on the nomination of metapad, though. Been using it for 3-4 years and I'd never go back.
Like me....
But TJL1, who actually plays on a lower difficulty than you, is higher (than me too!) because he playes big maps... like I said, difficulty is a factor, but only a fairly small factor ;)
Actually it has little effect for these since only a couple of the top 25 players play below crippling. I'll probably tweak the formula a bit though if I do more, but again it isn't so much a measure of how 'dedicated' the player is as it is how much time they devote to GalCiv (operating on the premise that harder games take longer to play--you have to think a lot more instead of just setting things up and clicking through to victory). Besides, map size and frequency of submission have a *lot* m
Zerg kick ass. My number one rule was always that you don't have enough hydralisks until you run out of hotkey groups. At that point, build a few more ;)
