An easier way to do this (read: cheese) is to go ahead and start building them, then if you get a notice that so-and-so has built this, reload an autosave (set to 1 or 2 turns), THEN buy it outright. You will save yourself a ton of money this way too. ;) ~SDC~

Read the forum. There are many, many examples of what you should and should not be doing. I know it's not a direct answer, but there are too many to give a summary here. ~SDC~
You know, I finally got around to reading the GCCG and I have to say, I was disappointed. I was expecting to have all this new information on how to play, with brand new strategies and what not, only to find out that it was a simple, single way of playing that I, personally, did not agree with. I like GalCiv the way it is. I like the thrill of having my ass handed to me sometimes, that's why I play harder difficulties. That's why I'm lucky to submit one game a week. If all y
I didn't have a choice. It automatically updated and then broke FOR me. ;) Glad to hear yours is still working fine. ;p LOL ~SDC~
I'm not sure if there is a fan site in Germany. It may take a while for GalCiv to catch on there. Please let us know if you do host a fan site, as I'm sure some of us would like to see it. :) Dank Sie. ~SDC~
Thanks. This is really annoying.
Go to this link http://www.winzip.com/ddchomea.htm and install Winzip. It should take care of your problem. ~SDC~
Sounds to me like you don't have WinZip properly associated with the ZIP extension. In Windows Explorer, click once on the file you downloaded to highlight it, then hold down SHIFT and RIGHT CLICK on the file, choose Open With... and then click on Choose Program and/or Browse and then navigate to your WinZip directory. It should be something like C:\Program Files\WinZip and then double click on Winzip.exe Check the box that says Always Use This Program ... and then click on OK. Th
Ok, looks good now. :notsure: Yesterday, I was trying everything to get it to come up right. I was emptying my cache, rebooting, trying different browsers, etc. Weird.... Just weird. ~SDC~
Remember, EVERYONE thinks they are right and good. It is always someone else that slaps the label on. ~SDC~

It helps if you are the same alignment. ~SDC~
I have GOT to be missing something here. It still looks like a black square. I've looked using SD and a normal browser. :( ~SDC~
Aren't you SUPPOSED to get your arse kicked when you play this for the first couple times? ;) I know I did, over and over again. Eventually, you find out what you are doing wrong and things become much easier. I kept colonizing every star I came across and didn't know why my economy sucked. :( Don't give up hope, Soldier, you can do it. Ray is right, sending your savegame to vincible is highly recommended. ~SDC~
I'm trying! ;) All these gigantic games take me quite a while to complete. :( ~SDC~
Dukes of Hazzard? ;) LOL Sorry, I bet you get that a lot. Can you be more specific about why you can't download? Is it giving you an error message? Thanks. ~SDC~
I still prefer a Party Palace as I get to keep the population and structures. Well worth the extra cost of all those constructors. ;) If you're worried about a military buildup warning from the AI, just keep it on the border and move it in and out as necessary and the occasional 1 influence point bribe. ;p Oh, this got a little off topic, didn't it? ~SDC~
The AI should take it as an insult, but I guess they're happy just getting anything. I've gone from a hostile AI to close using the 1I point "cheese". I believe it's something that should be fixed, though (sometime down the line of course). ~SDC~
Nope. 100 Billion per planet is the max. ;p ~SDC~
Another thing that might help with your military might is parking your warships in orbit. Their attack value increases while orbiting a star, thereby increasing your military might. It's not much, but it might make the difference whether or not the AI decides to exterminate you. ~SDC~
Good night, Ray. Congrats on another 30K game. :) ~SDC~
Ok, so here's the real question... If the UP passes a ban on terror stars or restrictions on trade routes for evil races (like me), and then you leave, can you still build a TS? Trade would be out, we know now, but are you still bound by those laws? :notsure: ~SDC~
Congrats Aaragorn! With a name like that I would have expected to see you as part of the Fellowship. ;) You know ... there's no shame in jumping ship and joining us! :D ~SDC~
Typically, a gigantic galaxy will take me about 20 to 25 hours to complete. I am very slow to start, but I pick it up towards the end. Gigantic starts are a micromanagement hell. ;) ~SDC~
Sector scan is pretty much useless. A ship will go round and round in the same sector, round and round, round and round. I was hoping for a hotkey for Auto-Attack. Sentry has one, and who uses that? Mainly, when my ships destroy ships in orbit, it stops ... and then I have to double click on it, click done and it will continue. Irritating. >:( ~SDC~ [Message Edited]
