Any good newspaper's got a mix of impartial news and editorials, so I don't mind. Hmm... you've got a sports section (glad ya liked it :-p), you've got a comic strip... all you need now is a business section about Stardock corporate news, and some classified ads. Maybe a world section, where you highlight some big events in players' empires (new strats, weird random event, etc.) :)
I can't think of a better time to bump this thread, what with all the **** going on... I'd say a bit more about how much everyone appreciates the devs' work (yes, even the background people like froggy who don't have their own fan clubs... yet... :-p), but the existence of this thread says enough, doesn't it? Bring on the worship smileys!
Well, I'd like a pirate smiley with a headscarf and eyepatch, personally. But I suppose I'd be happy with a sinister smiley. :)
I remember the knight-on-knight duel in BattleChess 4000 (an old sci-fi version). Normally, they use blasters, but in this case, they draw lightsabers. The duel goes on for a while, then one guys smacks the other's lightsaber away and the loser hits the ground. The winner raises his saber and is about to smash when the batteries fall out. He looks down at the batteries. The "loser" watches for a moment, then draws his blaster and shoots the other guy. :-)
Wombat? WOMBAT?!? Where the fuck are you? This little shithead Wascally hasn't stopped crying since you left! I've had to put dozens of photos of you around my quarters to try and calm the guy down a little bit, and those photos are making it REALLY hard to pick up cygnets - SHUT UP, YOU LITTLE BASTARD!!! No, I'm not talking to you, mate! I think he's got a rash or something, but every time I try and look, he tries to bite my friggin hand off! I swear, if he drops one more turd on my ship, he's
(an excerpt from the Discovery Channel) The other threads in the wild are starting to feel confident, feeding out in the open and growing quickly. Threadzilla has noticed this, and it is time for her to re-stamp her dominance on the herd. She does not sneak up on other threads, that is not her way. She simply stomps up, and makes her prescence known. The little threads run away, and Threadzilla claims the slowest ones. Look, that poor one tripped over! It's lying on its back, s
Fellowship News - Sports Report There was drama at the racetrack today during the running of the Fellowship Fifteen-Hundred. Both runners made it across the line at the exact same time, but Evil Steve was announced as the winner without any debate. Sources report that Ray's bribe this year was inadequate, as he was supposed to pay tribute based on his gross, not net, income, and he was claiming too many diplomatic priviledges on his income tax. Also, Evil Steve has admitted to taking mi
Hell, yeah. Chaotic Good my arse! LOL
/quack scratches head Matrix story? Well, the last story I did (the page 34 one, the one with you getting drunk :-p ) had a couple agent ripoffs in it, but the last time I used agents before that was back in the fan-club days :)
After all, it's not us complaining about the scores. It's the people getting anomolous scores who are. And the anti-cheat checks have been in a long time. They exist as part of the Metaverse rules.
I'm not suggesting you remove the anti-cheat system, by any means. Just that the savegame stores some more turn-by-turn history, so trigger values don't immediately cause an anomalous score, but they do cause an automated investigation. e.g. storing how a player's empire-wide P
So, are any of you Fellowship fellows going to sprint for post #1500? I'm not gonna bother myself, it's your thread, but I'm happy to take bets as an impartial, trustworthy pirate bookmaker :-)
Lothmorg the Green, hey? Sounds like a good name for the missus. :-p Lothmorg the Black is the mother-in-law, Lothmorg the Pink is the baby... somebody get me a color wheel, we can do the extended family :)
h'actually i az no idea wot iz going on with da pirates, but i iz agreein' wiv cotal. let's let bygones be bygones and concentrate on getting our own ship togevver. if we iz lookin cool and attractive, peoples iz gonna start thinkin' about da nice wevver, and da white sand, and da beer, and da vino, and da funny ciggies, and da roo on da barbie, and den day iz gettin' all jealous and sentimental and iz tryin' to dress like us, but day can't be us cos we iz too cool, and den day iz tryin t
Me, a vet? Hehe, oh my, there's only one monty python quote that comes to mind for this... "I posted fifteen pages of trash! Anywhere else, they'd hang me! Here, they'll give me a medal!" Cheers, everyone!
First, we have to clearly seperate the two issues we're discussing here: 1) Removing anomalous scores (however they're caused) by hand. 2) Using the GCCG strategy. I've seen the CEO quote thrown around a fair bit, but look at the context it's in:
Anomolous scores have to be removed by hand . I don't mean to offend anyone but at the end of the day, I am the CEO of a multi-million dollar corporation.
For dealing with point 1, that's a fa
Yeah, you're right. Let's call it The Drengin Net instead :-p Star Gossip? GalCiv Chronicle? Captain's Log - Survey Ship Of Doom? Okay, you might not like the last one.
eg: GROSS reconbs that they don't poach polayers from other empires.. I have been propositioned several times and i have them all loged.. not mentioning any names... oh.. and as part of a bribe i was even offered a seat in their senette by someone who can do it too.. however they weren't the only ones.. others have tried too.. there is nothing wrong with this.. except that they lie about it afterwards.. and i can't stand ppl who lie...
Well, I'll try and be impartial her
lol, we buy all our defence gear from overseas, so it probably is a french frigate :) nice story, cotal, I'll love to read the next part in the morning over a bowl of 'Special-Me'. LOL :)
Yeah, StarCon2 is a classic - I wouldn't class it as a standard empire-building game, though, it's a genre all its own.
Yep, beer will do that to you :-) lol, j/k!
Well, I wasn't gonna bother going for the 400th post, since it's your thread, but what the hell. You've had two hours, and no-one wants it, so I say: :p
Cotal seemed to have a lot to shout about - yell percentage of 40%!
Doesn't sound like you were speechless before you found about the logs :)
Wombat, mate, jump on #GalCiv if you've got a second. Don't say you're not worthy to stick around with us animals! (:(
"These pairs like to talk in their own special language" That's priceless :-) The random quotes are also, well, interesting to read. I just wonder if people are gonna censor themselves a lot more now...
