If you are concerned about points, Fulgrymm, you should note that you will get a slightly lower score on sub-normal due to the reduction for sub-normal difficulty base scores.
It's not the points that matter so much to me, it's the time I have until the XPack is out, since I intend to go for a true military win this game.

Equivalent of roads like Trade Lanes in Freelancer? I can imagine something like that working in GalCiv, you'd have to build them yourself, and it would work like the +Speed modules but only if your ships are traveling along the lane. It'd be limited to travel between systems too I suppose, since it wouldn't make sense having roads to nowhere.

Do they increase the defense rating of ships in orbit or do they make it harder to invade? And if it's the former, would the increased defense rating be accounted for when the game determines your military strength? If so, it could be a life saver late in game when the AI civs have Dreadnoughts and you're still stuck using battlecruisers.

Really? I've had a much easier time with scattered because then I don't have to research a bunch of stuff or wait years on a constructor to provide extra range when there's a habitable planet in almost every sector. But then again, that could be because I play on abundant.
