i had to dig for this thread. thought i'd bring it back with a bit of cutionary info. i'm norton-religious, but i sat down at my desk this morning to find an email in my box generated from an 'anti-virus administrator' saying a message attempting to be sent from my personal email addie (which comes through this box as well as my groupwise work addie) had been blocked because of a virus called Worm.SCO.A , in an email called 'test' that was going to some guy @gettaphone.com . i heard SCO got hit

i've been trying to figure out how to crunch a director movie into a good video file its being a pain. i had the same problems as you,werewolf. mp4 played first frame then stopped... the rest of the movie would start moving 20 minutes later on the strip. avi was great picture but no sound.. none of the other settigns had picture that could keep up with the music.

and i just realized we're talking about two different things. stephen, do you mean objectBAR or object DOCK? BAR does indeed, by default, have an icon in the system tray. if your tray has been hidden by the program, right click on the bar it has open and choose 'properties...' and it'll bring up the theme manager.

i've never seen an icon in the system tray. and i don't see any options in the program to have one. but you can get the Objectdock Preferences and Setup to come up by simply running the program over itself. ie, run c:\objectdock.exe to start the program, then run the same exe again and the properties window pops up. then you can do any tweaking in there. i always run the properties set up this way. you don't need desktop x or objectbar or anything extra to use it properly [Message

both situations above are correct. i too use my ati software when i'm at home. at work though, we had to do a video clip assembly into one big movie and my video cards weren't letting me capture anything larger then 320x280 (what windows movie maker uses). so we bought a little external AV device.. i think it was from a company called ADS but lots of vendors make them now. it has rca and svideo input jacks as well as usb and svideo output. you put it into your machine, plug a vcr or video camera

winexpose sucks, though.. get the powertool at www.windows.com/powertools and go to 'downloads'.. look for powertools. that will enhance your alt tab. some guy at aqua-soft.org is working on an expose clone for xp thats actually built ground up for windows.. uses direct draw and all that. can't wait till its done, it will be pretty cool.

i'm headed towards a computer nightmare.. i'm really hoping its not though. lately i've heard a fan giving me scary bad sector harddrive sounds.. and i'm sure its a fan.. at least i'm pretty sure..i dont have a loss in system performance when i hear the sound. when i opened the thing up and laid it down on its side to run it open for a little bit, the sound stopped. i vacumed the case to be safe, and also checked that my wires werent hitting a fan (i've got 7). my bios hardware monitor

i read the first couple posts and skipped the rest. sounds like a bad sector to me. norton disk doctor (from ages past.. i'm talking w3.1 or dos version) had a great utility for running around and cleaning up bad sectors. fix your drive right up. im sure the new ones have it but.. you know, i never stopped to figure it out. hope i never need to :/

we just brought in a stray. didn't have a problem getting the cat used to us.. she sort of adopted US and not the other way around. we'd open the back door in the morning and she'd tumble into the room, having been asleep up against the door. then she'd do this cute little yawn and look around like 'whaaat?'. ANYWAY.. as for getting cats used to you, like sn' said.. it just takes time. feed her, keep her box clean, and don't try to pick her up if she isn't ready. trust me she'll come up

then promptly put the computer on a power strip, and use that to turn it on and off. havn't seen problems with more modern computers 'cause everyone i know just keeps them on all the time.. but in older computers when that power switch wears out, its a pretty penny to get it switched out. 'course in the old days the switch was right on the power supply. kinda like a tractor verus our modern cars.

my buddy is an interactive developer on the other side of town.. his company does a lot of pharmecuitical stuff. he just had to build a website and edit a movie showing how to apply some kind of creme to kill toenail fungus. yummy. something i wouldn't want to stare at every day at work for a couple weeks.
