The toolbar icons have to be targa images (*.tga). If you want a tga to be transparent you have to have an Alpha Channel that defines the visible and the transparent areas. The one you''re editing has the original alpha channel in it, so you have to make a new one. In Photoshop you can view the alpha channel in the Channels tab next to the Layers tab. To make a new alpha channel, discard the old one, make a s-electio-n of your icons, go into channels and make a new channel. It''s completely blac

Winamp for playing audio files/CDs, Media Player for video. I don't think I'll ever use Media Player for audio, tried it once but I didn't get the right feeling like I do with Winamp. Classic skinning is the easiest to accomplish, but some time in the future I think I'm gonna pick up some XML knowledge and try the Modern skinning method. They do look a lot nicer than a classic skin.

I've had this emulator for a long time now, and I really like. Not for running old apps but the old games. Now I can play Hotroad, Goblins, the old Prince of Persia and Commander Keen again, to name a few. You can find plenty of different emulators here: http://www.zophar.net

Rename the file to .zip and extract the content. In it lies a bunch og bitmaps which cannot be renamed, their filenames must be intact for the skin to work. Once you have edited it, zip it and rename it to .wsz again.

At work I have a G4 running Panther. At home I have a PC running XP. And I prefer the PC, but my co-workers don't understand me. "Everything is sooo easy on a mac - it just works! Switch!". No I won't - I'm happy the way I have it now. Mac users aren't just Apple fans, they're on a religious crusade trying to convince Win users that this is the system we all should use. I don't know how Steve Jobs managed to get to that point, it's quite impressive. I can't set my finger on what excactly it is,

Why don't you get a Mac when you seem to think it's so much better? This is a customization site, we like to customize our PC's including the dock - so why spend time making it look like another system? OD is perfect as an alternate quick launch.

I just tried Aqua Dock. Except for a few different things it looks excactly like Yz Dock...no wonder why it can use Yz Docklets...seems like someone's kept programming where Y'z left off. Just my immediate thought, I could be wrong. It could be a dock immitating Yz, that imitated the one in OSX. But no it doesn't run smoother. When I point my cursor over an icon and move the cursor away I'd expect the icon to down again in the dock, but it doesn't it just hangs there <img src="http://

Of course I know of the accident, but it was never something that was brought up in history class in school, which made this very interesting reading. Thanks for the link. It's hard to believe, 600 years to go... [Message Edited]

It should adress security issues that MS have been critisized for since around XP came out, or should I say after all the worms/trojans/vira that came right after? It's just to easy to infect a Windows system, so they needed to do something about it. I don't know all the details but you could probably read alot about it over here: http://www.winsupersite.com

I read that there won't be a beta of it this year, just an alpha. The reason: SP2 for XP. It has put MS back, and because of that features will be cut in Longhorn. That is total BS. They should ship the new OS when it's ready with all the nifty features implemented. But they won't, I think they're under pressure from customers and maybe a little bit from the open source community. So they have to get it out in the first half of 2006. I just wish they for once, would deliver a complete OS. I don'

I've always seen religion as something to hold on to when things you can't explain happens, and also for keeping some sort of belief that there's more to life than just the life itself. Like a hope that you won't go away forever when you die. But that's exactly what I believe. Nothing can scientificly proof that there's something after death, we just wish there is, so there's a meaning to life. I'm one of those who thinks death is like eternal sleep, it's like regular sleep but you'll never wake

I have a CygWin icon in this pack: https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?library=29&SkinID=1988 Although I think it's of poor quality compared to some of the others. Can't help you out with the SQL...

I think it's kinda lame they wanna post an article like this at hardwaregeeks, how to skin an alpha version of an upcomnig OS release. Very few have got their hands on the pdc release or the other leaked builds. Besides, everyone knows Longhorn will be using some sort of svg-like interface, using xaml in avalon, the presentation layer. However, there will still be the ability to use Windows in classic mode as we know from XP. Longhorn won't use the old gray one, but XP's blue/luna/olive schemes.

The skin is entitled Aluminium Alloy. It's originally a Mac OSX skin, someone here's porting it to WB i think. I don't believe it's out yet? The second link below is for that ill-affected progeny called Styl-XP. Mac OSX link: http://www.maxthemes.com/themes/aluminumalloy.htm Win link: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/2964142/
