about that regional settings thing, i'm from england so i'd have it as english(UK) wouldnt I? Yes, you would, but that's what may be causing the bug. Latest version has some problem where it doesn't like Windows not being set to English (US), so your English (UK) might be triggering th

That is bizzare. Utterly bizzare. What video card do you have (we can't tell if it's that if you don't tell us what you have ). Do you have the latest drivers? You might also want to try going into the Regional Settings in the Control Panel and changing your region to English (US). It helps with some other issue.

#43 by Citizen Benjamin Lunoe Sunday, March 05, 2006 3:25 AM I have a glitch/technical issue that, while it does not prevent me from playing the game, is really nasty and decreases my enjoyment of it: Change your region (regional settings in the Control Panel) to English (US).

Three hours, one crash that may have been due to video card heat (not sure, but it corrupted the display for a few seconds) but only stopped the game. I have no spyware, which is helped by not using IE. I have a virus scanner that's always off unless I'm running something I downloaded. No software firewall. Very few background apps. Good RAM. Fine cooling, when I turn on a fan that's pointed in the case. Latest drivers. And so forth. Most, t

Aren't you only supposed to research certain of the expensive/high damage weapons if you're evil? Could it be that you're not evil, and researched a tech that you weren't supposed to be aloud to research, hence you can't see it? (Grabbing for straws, maybe)

It's a dumb set of bugs. You should add a version number to your ships. That will minimize or completely remove the problem. Since I've been doing it, my obsoleted ships stay obsoleted, and I've not had any problems.

That CPU temperature isn't bad. 70C and above is bad, anything below 60C is actually fairly normal. Bad RAM will generally give you a unhelpful error message on the blue screen that may change each time (PAGEFAULT, or BAD_IRQ, etc., possibly changing each time). From what I've seen, this is a big BSOD culprit. CPU and Mobo problems don't tend to cause BSODs so often as they cause plain dead computers. If it's specifically a

Really, if another party becomes the ruling party you technically shouldn't be able to be ruler any longer... In any case, your proposal removes the largest reason to watch your empire's approval. You could just tick everyone off, and you'd just get a new party next election. Sounds too easy.

Hello...Heh...I just started playing today, So....I've got no clue what I'm doing in the game. Which is why Draginol just posted a new starter's guide . (Though honestly, one should have been included in the game like in GalCiv 1)</fo

Hold delete after it reboots, and get to the temperature monitoring screen to see if it's heat related (guessing from the auto-reboot it sounds like it's that, drivers, or corrupt RAM). You could use a program like motherboard monitor too (run GC2 for a couple minutes, alt tab, and see what the temperature is). A new fan won't help if you installed it in the wrong place, or if the case has poor air flow. Also, stop Windows from auto-rebooting

You're rushing colony ships at the start? Rushing constructors when necessary? (Grabbing resources) Are you picking good starting abilities? Economy and research are nice, if you have no idea what else to choose. Are you optimizing your taxation and spending rates? Are you trading with other civs (especially minors) for technology? Are you specializing planets that have bonus tiles, such as manufacturing tiles? Are you building plenty of sta

I have the same identical problems as are outlined by the thread starter. I have documented them by snapping screenshots and I am also providing the save game. Note: I have the Collector's Edition, and I'm updated to 1.0X.009. No overclocking of CPU or GPU. Have you e-mailed that stuff to stardock support?<

In my current game, I've focused on economy (+20 with Federalists, and +50 or so with the chosen abilities). This allows me to keep my spending rate at 100%, and still have 300bc a month left over. I usually spend that on buying techs, which I can buy for around 2000bc each. Still, the Drengin are owning everyone. They've got 1080 military strength (they have four or so stacks of five fleets each with four ships each hanging around their main worlds), while mine is only 104. It's nuts
