The free version of DesktopX 2.1 should also allow you to load themes. That having been said, some older themes will not work with DesktopX 2.1. You can search for themes which have DX2 support by using the search feature at the top of the DX2 library. If you still, have questions regarding this, I would suggest you return to this thread and politely ask about a specific DX Theme, making sure you spell the name of the theme correctly or post a link to the theme. <img src="http://images.stardock

Thos pink bits around the edge come from merging the semitransparent bits in your drawing with the magic pink color when you flatten the image to save it as a bitmap. Those semi-transparent bits usually come from antialiasing or some other effect like feathering or some blur effects. ONLY pure (255,000,255 or #FF00FF) magic pink will be transparent in WB, so the pink in those merged pixels will show up. Hippy from Skinplant posted a good tutorial for dealing with this issue here: https:

With DesktopX open, make sure you are in Edit mode, then right click on the tray icon and Select "Configure DesktopX..." The dialogue window should open with the Desktop tab Selected. In the bottom right of the window, in the Theme area, click on the "Work Area" button. This will open a new window titled "Work Area Options." Make sure the "Reduce Work Area" box is checked, and then adjust the amount you want to reduce the work area in pixels from each screen edge. Whne you finish, close t

i guess, there was a program: yupdater.exe, denied access to it.and also denied access to SVCHOST.exe (Generic process) from acting as a server. Just so you know, assuming that yupdater.exe was the original file you received from Yahoo!, this program needs to have access to the net in order to function. It is the program which checks for updates

#3 by Richard Mohler - 3/15/2004 6:48:56 PM I have paint shop which I made some pictures with 4 bit 16 colour and they looked allright , but when I made a progress bar the same way it screwed the whole picture up. Do you have any idea why this would happen?/quote] When you made the progress bar, did you use the exact same 16-color palette? The palette for the two items must be identical.

Yep I stand corrected, ypager is in fact the messenger and it should show up in the process (task_list) list as Ymsgr_tray under NT (NT4, 2000, XP and 2003 ) That depends on how Yahoo is configured to load. If Yahoo is not configured to load at startup, or has been exited completely and is subsequently launched from a Quicklaunch or Desktop icon,

ypager.exe is the executable program for Yahoo Messenger. Actually it is a Helper app for the Yahoo Messenger... as the links I posted show...It is also something being used to tunnel into users computers...again as the links I posted show No... Ypager.exe is the executable for Yahoo Messenger. It is not a helper, it is the program used to launc

Both WA and QCD seem to use up quite a bit of resources, whether minimized or not, and particularly when not minimized This suggests to me that the real culprit is video. Specifically, I would guess that the skin you are using has some type of animation, scrolling text, etc which requires a significant amount of redrawing. What type of video card

I typically use Doubleclick on the titlebar to nail on top as that makes sense to me. I use right click for rollup. When there are extra buttons in a skin that already have those functions, I will typically edit the skin and use one to launch Notepad, as I find it a very handy way to copy info from a window that I intend to edit or use in some other way. If I have yet another button available, I usually reprogram that one to minimize to system tray, something I find handy when I have a lot of wi

The only tutorial I know of for Desktop X is by Martin for DX v.1.0 and is located here: https://www.stardock.com/products/desktopx/tutorial/default.htm It has not been updated for a while, but it might still be worth a walkthrough. Have you checked the guides for DX2? https://www.stardock.com/products/desktopx/resources.asp I have found them to be quite useful - even more useful since I printed them out and began making notes in the margins. They are written in PDF so in my opinion they are muc

The word d-e-l-e-t-e-d doesn't seem to work here. Hmm The words Delete, Select, Drop, and Insert will all disappear on this message board unless you corrupt the word in some way. The easiest way I've found is to capitalize the initial letter of those words.

Both Norton and McAfee do take a bit of tweaking in my experience to cut down on resource useage without sacrificing protection. For a long time I ran both of them, but it seemed that each time I would update one, I would have to start over trying to get the two to play nicely with each other. I now run Norton exclusively, because in the two years I ran both, Norton caught things that slipped past McAfee, and I could not recall a single instance of the reverse being true. I also have Norton AV a

Also, whenever you finish adjusting your display colors the way you want them, don't forget to adjust your colors in your graphics editing program... I recently had to go back and redo a ton of work on my WB because the gamma adjustment in PSP was out of whack. I didn't even realize it until I opened the skin on one of my other rigs.

I can't speak to the Firefox issue, but as you stated that it happens to you in IE as well, I checked for myself, and my preferences for Popup windows did not revert to Yes after restarting or after relogging in. I tried several times and had no problem with my preferences being kept. So perhaps the issue is not with the site.

He's not exactly the brightest crayon in the box, but this boycott idea of his isn't bad... Imagine if all those that feel the way he does actually band together and do what he suggests... Oh my gawd... No more complaints on the message board... No more personalized skin demands... And all that ripe bandwidth just sitting there unused... Boy, that will teach us... "Attica! Attica!"

I was afraid of that. I wish I could help, but I honestly have no clue about how WB works on Win98. And reading between the lines in the beta history notes, I know that Win98 and Win98SE especially posed some unique problems for the developers. There are several people who post regularly in the stardock.windowblinds and stardock.windowblinds.support newsgroups that use Win98, and you may find more help there, honestly. You might also try the #stardock chatroom. There are several folks that hang

I wouldn't dream of telling you to upgrade your rig, Stumpy. I'm just surprised by the differential between your running WinAmp and WMP, given they both run on the same setup. I just think you have something else going on that is causing the WMP to use so much more of your resources. Perhaps a bad skin, or something else conflicting with WMP. I'm not trying to convert you to WMP, either. I
