A few days ago a link to the Council Forum magically appeared on the left hand side of my screen, obviously connected to this new Diplomat forum rank thing. Just wondering what its going to be used for and if I'm supposed to be able to post on it, as I currently can't post on existing threads or start new ones.
Ugleb
ow about this: an upgrade requires a "cargo shuttle" to go from the nearest colony/starbase to a ship that is doing a mid-space refit. It carries all the spare parts and stuff, and is treated just like a GC1 mini-freighter (no weapons or defense). A midspace refit is not complete until the spare parts shuttle arrives at its location in space. That would be a deterrent to d
Intergalactic drug problems, your right Ugleb that could be interesting, how about the intergalactic war on drugs Actually I'm just loving the image of an entire planet sitting on the floor wide eyed muttering "dude my hands are HUGE!"
umm..I surrender?
Yes I will use it to cheat in games, but that's none of your concern. Stay away from any MMO I play you.
But don't think I'm going to become Lowa11's official interpreter. I Oh go on, you could have your own medal on the metaverse!
Although the iguana can walk around, climb, even stand on two legs and beg for things, its natural state is to lay out flat and bask for 90% of their day. Much like cats.
They can either A) Upgrade them all at once or B) Go to individual ships and have them upgrade to a particular ship type. So both options are going to be in? Well I'm perfectly happy. BTW, is there any financial cost involved with refitting or is just a time penalty?
Beware with such sayings , I am totaly on your side, Astrax completely out of the line but you can make a lot of fans angree over this. Finansial success (or in this case survival ) does not nessesary mean the game was good or bad. I think really the comment was saying that Stardock set their development budgets to make sure they don't over
So when you own for example... a Basic Farm and research Xeno Farming you get The next best thing instantly after research? and that when you do research it it imeadilty replaces the Old model? i guess No, if you are currently building a basic farm and finish research xeno farming, the basic farm in your build queue is replaced with the xeno f
Been mulling over this again. The AI designs ships. That's proving to be quite a challenge. It's going to take a lot of play-testing on that to nail that down to make sure the AI is doing a good job with it. From what I've seen in beta 3 the AI always seems to go for lasers.
Yeah, but you'd feel real stupid if you didn't take its advice and then lost. No change there then!
That planet has a good rating. I wonder why it has a blue shield on it? I'm going to colonize it! /me watches the Altarian Defender rip apart ProudCanadian's colony ship This means war!
In Beta 4 you will find an option to have the upgrades for your improvements automatically added to your build queues as they become available. So that means we don't have to go back and check 'maxed out' planets for new build options.
Multiplicity is actually for multiple computers, each with at least one monitor. /me coughs and looks invisible
It shouldn't end up with being a case of 'all' your battleships going into refit unless you just design one type and keep building it until you have made several tech advances to do a complete overhaul in one go. The upgrade Yarlen described would refit all ships of one design at a time. For example I tend to design my battelship and call it something like Overlord Mk1. I develop a new mass driver and design an upgraded version using it, and call the new type Overlord Mk2. Anothe
About multiplayer - what you mean by "AI always suffers when multiplayer is included" I am programmer myself and as far as I understend multiplayer has nothing to do with AI - just "turn it off" for another player and add networking code Or you meant that time spent on multiplayer usualy on expence of AI ? (Personally I am not huge multiplayer lover, thats probably
New psychotropic drug discovered, your colony X produced nothing this week as they were all sitting on the floor staring at their hands and giggling.
I'm looking at the battle screens again and grinning to myself. I'm guessing as to how the camera control will work. There's a button on the control bar which I guess switches view between several predefined angles..gah I wanna play with it! Still two weeks to wait!
I find it ironic that some people consider space-based 4X games as "dead." After all, when were they ever mainstream or "alive?" They were never particularly common at any point, and the Master of Orion series is very clearly the single most well-known of the lot. I find it funny that people can be taking an interest in this game and declaring
I should have made it less broad, 4x for me is a space strategy genre. Civ isnt a 4x game cause what are you exploring? Grass and trees? If I want to explore that I go to the countryside, hell even a park will do. Come on! Regardless, I find Civ more tedious than most turn based strategy games. Some might say its cause of depth, I say it's cause of... boring. I Played all
I'm holding off comments until I try it! I do think that there should be some risk involved in pulling ships out of the battle lines to refit 'in the field', also it could encourage players to think about their fleets a bit rather than pumping out hundreds of identical craft. Defending the ships in refit could prove to be an interesting aspect of warfare.
But anytime someone suggests something remotely resembling Moo2, you guys blast away the same old offensive barrage of "Well this is our game and we do it our way." Atleast accept the fact that there are infinite number of ideas, but a very finite number of good ideas. I don't think that's really fair. Some things aren't taken up for budget re
I'm finding all this political activism kinda scary.
