Not sure if it's semantics or not which is why I was looking for an official clarification. Here is another quote from the AP description which led me to believe there were new techs: "A host of new technologies, many of which make use of an upcoming new civilization ability called "Logistics"." Now that may just means the new Logistics techs, but those are already in GC 1.22 so it's confusing, to me anyway. [Message Edited]
Some suggestions below. Sorry if these have been mentioned already. I skimmed the 6 pages of this thread but may have missed them. 1. A better interface for offering a tech trade. Right now you put up a tech and then start matching it against each tech the AI already has, looking for a green acknowledgement. Perhaps you could pick one tech from your list and if the AI is willing to give you any of it's techs those remain on the screen and the others disappear. 2. Multipla
Moser the Alchemist wrote: "FYI, AP contains no new techs..." However the info on the AP page says: "• New technologies, game play tweaks, and other changes to make the game more fun." Which is correct? I'm still on the fence about AP so an official answer would be appreciated. Thanks.
Yeah, if it went out on the 12th it would certainly be on some shelves by now. Anybody in the Great White North see a copy in retail, eh?
OK, thanks very much for the clarification.
Anyone seen AP in a US store yet? I've checked the websites for a bunch of retailers and none have it. Since Strategy First is Canadian based and their press release says AP went out "nationwide" on Nov 12th I'm wondering if that means it is in Canadian stores only?
That is what I thought too, but that is not what the latest GC News said. Perhaps Frogboy will clarify this.
OK, thanks. If true it's an incentive to get Altarian Prophecy then.
Posted this in the GC II beta thread on the front page but don't think anyone who can answer saw it: OK, now I'm confused. :) Just got the latest GC News and it says: "Galactic Civilizations II won't be out for quite a long time still but we hope to get a beta of it out early next year for Altarian Prophecy users." To me that says if I buy Altarian Prophecy then I will be able to beta test GC II. Is that correct?! I thought it was necessary to pre-order GC II to beta
I wouldn't even consider HL2 right now with all the howling about the Steam mess. Seems many people can't register their copies through Steam because the servers have been overloaded, and if you don't register you don't play. A lot of people are pissed.
Went to the link from the front page but apparently I have to create an account and enter payment information before I even get to see the price?! Can someone post the price please?
The files were just sent to you. Thanks.
OK, the game mentioned above now crashes regularly at the same point. I am unable to continue my current game. Any of the testers want a saved file?
I'm about 500 turns into a Gigantic game and it's CTD twice in the last few turns with the latest patch. I never had even one crash with earlier patches. Very frustrating.
Not sure if this event bug has been reported or not? I got the event about my ambassador insulting the mistress of an emperor, or whaever, due to a lack of espionage funding. Not sure of the exact wording. Thing is that I had spent 2296 bc on espionage with that race to date and was spending 15 bc per month at the time.
OK, I did see another Avatar show up last turn. However in general I think throwing away resources on ships that stand no chance is a bad plan. Perhaps some code could be added that has the AI check opposing ship tech levels and not build anything more than one level lower. Probably not that simple but the current method is a turkey shoot.
The AI has a tendency to build useless ships once engaged in a prolonged war. In my current game (Crippling) I'm at war with the Torians. Even though they have Avatar level tech they are now throwing Corvettes at me in large numbers. Those ships are getting slaughtered by my Dreadnoughts/Rangers. I saw this same tendency in my last game on Painful too.
Thanks Frogboy.
Thanks for the offer and I'll consider it. Being evil helped make the win a bit too easy on Painful. I'm playing Crippling now and trying to be a model emperor but if it doesn't work out you'll be the first to know. :)
It would be massive but very fragile, at least in my mind. I like them as they are, essential and vulnerable.
Frogboy - This question, post #25, may have been lost in the shuffle: Can 1.11 be applied to current games, using the 1.10A.073 version, without causing problems or will a restart be required? Thanks.
Found it out by accident. If your survey ship has no anomalies to investigate give it an auto-survey order anyway. Then give it an auto-pilot order to go somewhere unexplored. If it uncovers an anomaly along the way it will automatically drop out of auto-pilot and investigate. Sorry if this is old news to everyone.
From my experience with Gigantic maps, which is all I play, I'd have to agree with the original poster. It seems like a conscious design decision to me. I suspect that if the human player is given too much room to expand the game will be too easy. It might be realted to the type of galaxy chosen too. Playing tight clusters usually results in one or more AI's in the same cluster with me. Perhaps on scattered or loose clusters there would be more room.
