I had another save from another game about 10+ years in to the game, not at the start, that loads ok. I will put them all into a zip and send them to CariElf when she turns up. CariElf will fix it :D

[/quote] The Auto save (every three turns), the previous auto save and a manual save, all worked fine , loaded from in game, i then quit to do other things , turned PC off. Came back midnight+ last night and none of them would work. Hence i feel it has something to do with local stored files, like the 'dissapearing ship bug' that CariElf has fixed, it never happened to me. i presume the same is happening here

Jaws the Wayfarer: I did the same as you, saved and tested and all worked. Im not a happy camper to be honest so i have gone back to the wind-up that is 1.13 :notsure: judging by the fact that during the sessions i tried the load save worked, i have to ask myself. Why did they work? everyone (i think) is used to the fact that on GC-1.13 and below when you click quit, depending on how long you have been playing, it would take a while to get back to desktop.
