How about a rusty one? :) or a flag one? :D or a polish one? LOL That help? ;) Oh yes , mines black , i lnow it not a color but im not a person ... [Message Edited]
98 is not a gaming OS, it's hosed for most games. Upgrade to XP.
Excuse me? The OS req' for GalCiv is windows 98/ME/2000/XP. Seeing as you know jack about operating systems ill wait for a proper response from someone who knows what they are on about ;)
When are you going to fix the scenario editor? im not a happy camper, i havent had one release of AP that i could really get into on win98SE since i subscribed to Drengin, check my installs, im not intrested in the other bits on there, i only got it to say thanks for GC and sorry you got a bum deal from the publishers, this is the thanks i get :D
Yes the game works, the scenario editor doesnt, its just the way the data is saved and reloaded, thats all the rest works fime as far as i know. Im not really intrested in the map editor so cant really comment on that but AP game works fine, you should pre-order its great with all the extra bits they have added.
Chop from Tau Ceti (turn right at Barnards star)
Well i waited, even bought another game, X2 :D The new update i downloaded with fingers crossed and anything else i could cross, cue drum roll ... Nope , still broken >:( the scenario editor is still not working, it will not properly load back the data it saves, as this was known weeks before the update was released im not a happy camper, its not a small bug and was noted by official Stardock people as not working as well weeks ago. Back to X2 then :HOT:
Umm , dont run all those bits in the bacjground ? :D I have the same problem , its all to do with those nice peeps at Microflop and thier lovely codecs :) the win media 9 player hates GalCic, with it in , no sound, by that i mean i never have the sound effects anyway, they very rarely worked before unless i waited five mins or so before loading a game, the they worked fine (you go figure ... ) but i at least could play my MP3's, with the win media dohickey in no MP3's in GalCiv, no
By the way, does the Serial number you're entering match this one
I hope not , thats my reg info ... LOL
That is disappointing. Is this correct? The game supports 98SE but the editor doesn't?
The scenario editor doesnt, cant speak for the others, CariElf is on the case to get it / them fixed though :) so fingers crossed. They do work though, its someting to do with the way they are encrypted when the data is saved , win98 SE gets all cranky when loading them back in, so it should be ok ;) [Message Edited]
As for big guns.. how much bigger do you want... build a terror star and crush planets... anything smaller use the ships youve send to guard it..
Think your missing the point, if there was a module, like the defence, that allowed your starbase to have weapons then it would take some of the need to place ships everywhere to protect them
They never have liked starbases :D it seems every update changes them in some way or another, i just wish they would make thier minds up what they want to do them LOL Your right though that the logistics need a re-think, that was my first thought after playing AP, at the moment they just dont work, if your on a huge / gigantic map size its near impossible to play a decent war / power game, and yes the defence sucks on starbases as well, why cant we have weapons on them? all the sci-film
I think the editor is supposed to be the major selling point of the expansion pack, so it really wouldn't make sense to give out a free version.
And it would also make sense if the editor worked with win98SE but it doesnt, so peeps like me who subscribed to Drengin find the whole deal a waste of time at the moment as ive only got a third of what AP is (game only, no editors)
thats cool :D Any chance of the updated manual in the update this time? or are Stardock still going to ignore the fact that the PDF file is missing? or how about fixing the scenario editor in AP for win98 users?
Don't be - when you do its always worth reading I've found Any further upsets on that front and we can deal with them as they arise
Does that involve Ewoks?? i like the little, squeaky fuzzy dudes and thier catapults :D and they were in the film with the word 'Jedi' in , so you must have Ewoks, right?? LOL
BTW Darkspire you are always welcome to post a hi in the jedi thread
Thankyou :D im a bit shy of posting these days, i had a bit of trouble a little while ago (im still trying to glue my head back on where it got bitten off ;)) , but its cool to know im wanted somewhere ... LOL
No one else notice this??
Im a bit on the 'ANTI LOGISTICS - THEY SUCK AND NEED A REWORK - BIG TIME' protesters side so im not jumping (as much as id like to, i know CariElf and friends have done much good) to udate to 1.13. I did, however, notice that the manual had an update :D so i clicked update and, guess what?, yes thats right not a lot happened LOL well me being a curious sort who likes to know where things live on my PC, i knew where all the updates lived for GalCiv from SDC, so i looked and there it was 'PDF
When you have multiple survey ships on auto they often end up going to the same spot, thus being horribly inefficient. Is there any way to fix this? Manually searching on large+ maps is brutal.

Yes, there is, but I haven't found an efficient way to do it. I started to fix this once, but it was slow. So it's on the back burner for awhile.
Could you not pass the currents ships target into a counter, just adding a counter for each ship (no player ha
Uh, approval and "morale" are one and the same, correct?
The PQ (planet quality) also works into the formula, and IMHO is one of the major reasons why you can geta low morale. With a civilization of high PQ systems you can up the tax rate and it wont affect the growth, try to put soil ehancement first on the build queue then entertainment network, manufacturing center followed by habitat improvement (you will need to research the techs though), this gives a PQ 15 planet a
I just tried a couple of times to duplicate the trouble and I don't see what you're getting...cause cept for the race setup they load fine and do not wipe the settings outI even tried 1 new one of my own plus the 1 you said it destroyed both play and load fine here
CariElf is on the case. It is a problem at your end.
I just tried a couple of times to duplicate the trouble and I don't see what you're getting...cause cept for the race setup they load fine and do not wipe the settings outI even tried 1 new one of my own plus the 1 you said it destroyed both play and load fine here
Well they dont work here, they save ok, quit the editor, then re-run the editor, load the GCS file and all the data has reset. All of the saves this end , no matter what i do end up as 44 bytes size files, all
The send test doesn't necessarily mean that the score won't submit. I ended up taking that out because it wasn't giving me any useful data and was just causing the submit time to take longer. I also took out the feedback message entirely because even if the send code didn't give any error codes, it sometimes didn't work. So that's the way it is in Altarian Prophecy currently, and will be that way in 1.2.
Could you PLEASE make a little green light . dot appeaar below th
Um, there isn't anything special that you have to do. It should have just worked. I'm sending you a copy of the scenario editor's exe in case there's something wrong with yours.
He is not the only one ;) mine does the same, just read the post. It shows up in game in the rules, but once loaded back into the editor (tried load and drag n drop) all the sliders are resest to zero. As soon as i get back from work tommorow ill send you a zip with a pic of the editor's sliders
How is it that when talking about UFOs, the conversation tends to turn to religion.. ? one has very little to do with the other.
if you went to a remote place in the world say thirty years ago, found a tribe, (like up the amazon), that had never seen a lighter / flashlight / battery radio, if you produced these items they would consider you a 'higher' being, its happenened lots with explorers, well the ones that dont get eaten :D Man was once a primitive being, he was
