I thought that was part of the idea of the new expansion? the libary will be updated to accept scenarios / campaigns and i thought the saved games were on there as well? Thanks for the prompt reply (there ought to be a best surported game of the year award as well, just realised who replied :)) Arcilte: I just looked at the save in Textpad with wordwrap on, its only a few 'pages' down, not too sure if its there in 1.13 but it is in 1.49. I follow your escapades often, thats
Darkspire
The Download section on the GalCiv site is for major uodates only, the 'Expanded Universe' free expansion is on there that brings the version to 1.10. All patches are only available through Stardock Central, your best bet is to download all th updates through that. Once you are up to 1.13, vist http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&id=117859#118483 our lady with the lamp CariElf has made a fix for us as there are a few 'undocumented features' (read : BUGS) in 1.13, just follow her wise words an
Ive been playing with the new beta, i just tried to load a saved game, loaded to 100% then CTD, tried the auto save, same. It hasnt happened all afternoon, so i thought i will 'zip' it up and send it to CariElf, i just looked at the save file in a text editor, my Serial number is bang in the middlle for all to see, is this correct? I dont mind sending things to CariElf, but i know that once the expansion is released there are going to be lots of save files being passed about. Thanks
Well at least The Nerfarious Empire http://www.galciv.com/metaverse/empires.asp?id=664 offered more help than the others :D
At the end of a game when you submit your score to the Metaverse does it show up on here instantly, or does it update only at certain times of the day?
When you submit a score you have to remember three things: 1. Enter the name you are logged on here as EG Diffuse 2. Your E-Mail Address, the one you used to log your account with here at GalCiv 3. Be Paitent , VERY PAITENT :D only click the submission button ONCE to send, it will seem as though nothing is
I mentioned this a few pages ago but i ENJOY wiping out ALL the other civs, and i dont think im alone. I agree completely that the scores for all the victory conditions should be leveled, i played to submission all the other types of victories, just didnt enjoy them as much as the military one, i dont use the cultural 'exploits', i cant help it if the one way i like to play is what all the peeps on here say is a 'score-hog', i just find that i like to play it that way, ive been banging my noggin
Militery victories should be based on the total number of major civ planets siezed in the duration of game and the base PQ of those planets. This should give players an incentive not to terror star the universe or use the cultural militery victory exploit.
Which still comes down to the fact that those who dont use your 'exploits' would be penalised, so no, not a good idea (i must be one of the only ones who built a terror star and thought 'thats looks cool, what does it
Sirian: You have totally lost me here, im a bear with only a little brain, what do you want done with the Metaverse then? its a score table, ever since i built an Acorn Atom back in '79 , i have noted that people find score tables give a game a longer life, its a set of numbers, people replay the game to get more / bigger numbers to push themselves up the hi score table, im no genius as i already said, i undersatnd that people are a little miffed by the way the calcs are done, i think they a
I think you've got to logoff (the button's up in the top-right corner) and log back on.
Thank you :D that worked!
If this is your way of saying that you're more tolerant, that's fine. But if you're saying this isn't going on or isn't worth discussing, I calmly beg to differ. And so would many others here, judging from responses here and comments in other threads.
No im not tolerant, im a grumpy old baldie fossil :D i must be reading the wrong threads ... i just dont see a lot of it thats all.
The "Galactic Council" button is on the left side of your browser window, ri
The AI starbases show up on the map even if you have never explored the sector after a few turns. (go to tactical and they are shown all over the map ... like how do they manage so many so quickly with the new logistics?) The Senate party logos on race setup dont show up when clicking on details The names for the two new races have the color of there name black (i think), you cant see them The Metaverse submission screen only shows the original five AI's, it does not l
i think it would be neat to have a "super-dense" option, where you end up with around 10 star systems in each sector. you can play on much smaller maps, yet still have the game last for a long time. it would still slow the computer down, but atleast you dont have to keep track of such a wide area.
That would cut quite a bit of the strategy of supply lines and fleet upgrades and deployment, I use F9 to keep track, i can see you have never played Stars... http://crisium.com
Oh right :D now the penny drops, yes i see what you mean, if they move the empire threads then the experienced players wouldnt have the newcomer questions right in front of them and respond, they would have to go the main forum and read through the noob posts, so there would be less feedback for new players, good point.
Thanks :) Just wondered ...
Im sure i read somewhere, that they were going to do a bigger galaxty as well? or was that the one that was in the expanded freebie expansion?
Thank you :D i have always wondered what an alpha strike was, ive been doing 'alpha strikes' then since i left normal, at least i have a name for my big pile of ships everywhere :) i also put ships to destroy the starbases he owns in that same turn as well, depending on how i want to 'cripple' the AI, sometimes if you have 2 AI's who are quite powerfull its good to knock the morale bases out, (the military ones are always top priority so nuff said), then hit all his planets, then ask him for p
I just thought it was logical, the new players would be directed to the main forum anyway, the forum button on the top of the site takes you straight to the main forum, as it is at the moment the empire threads are, as you quite rightly pointed out, the most active ones which means as the empires grow there posts will be at the top in the forum and any questions from newcomers will end up underneath them, which is why i thought another forum would be a good idea. You go the Galactic Forum when y
Either peeps is to busy playing the new beta or they must like the clutter ... come on fellow GalCivians speak up :D
Thank you CariElf / Stardock for the fixed beta made available for the weekend, i might actually have something to be happy about for a change :)
Thank you for your kind offer, but im only interested in +normal skill level / pure evil players. I will try again, i got kind of 'flame grilled' by another empire on my post last time but i will try again, and im not 'bitter', just bemused that i was flamed thats all, wasnt expecting it as everyone is so friendly round here and it was my first attempt thats all. I do believe though that i was asking for votes on a new forum though, not looking for peeps for my empire ;) [Message Edited]
Stardock: would it be possible to put all the empire threads into thier own forum? so we would end up having Galactic Forum, GC Strategies, GC Mods and GC empires? this would make the general forum a bit easier to read for those who dont have, (but maybe tried ;) like me), an empire. Thanks
But couldn't you win military victory with all victory conditions turned on ? I realise that there would be a "danger" of getting a cultural victory, which is of course a problem. Then maybe that needs to be fixed.
No you cant, not according to the options anyway, if you click them all off it then tells you that you are on a 'military' victory.
Why would you turn off any victory conditions ? The only reasons i can see to turn of victory conditions is to 1) create a scenario 2) to avoid cultural victory or 3) to exploit alliance with getting the alliance victory. But there are probably others ?
To turn on the military victory only is one of the only ones i can think of as thats how you turn on a military victory as stated in the manual. And as i said, im a 'pure' military player, i dont go for 'exploits' as i hav
I think it would be a great idea to have a penalty for disabling victory conditions or as I understood Sirian - why not just make disabling of victory conditions a 0 Mv-score.
So, people like me, and others who have posted here, should not be allowed a score on the Metaverse? (check my previous messages in this post, im a 'pure' military player, no culture modules on starbases, no culture / influence building build ups on planets except an embassy which helps a little
Umm , dont shoot me, i read / post here quite often, Im not too sure if your in the right place, i am a member, as Darkspire, on lots of game forums and the GalCiv forums are the most friendly forums ive encountered, ive seen a few wonky words, like when i tried to start an empire, but ive never seen any real 'flaming' on here, even CariElf has a fanclub :D and in all the game forums ive ever posted on ive never seen a fan club for a programmer! as i said, i read most of the posts on here and th
