The thing that keeps nagging me about Impulse is that I can't help but think about all the resources that have been and will be directed towards it, and I keep thinking that I wish they were directed elsewhere. Not wanting to dwell on it though.

Kurt: If yrag's reply #6 doesn't work for you (but it kind of looks like you've already tried that), it might be helpful to know what version of Windows Vista or Windows XP you're using. [quote]I contaced Dell Technical support, and they got it working by uninstalling it, making a new user account on my computer, and reinstalling it on the new account.[/quote] Are you still using the same user login to install which Dell set you up with before and worked? Is that the same
Also on XPSP3 here. Just launched/closed re-launched/closed randomly about 20 tabs straight from OD+, using direct url addresses in OD icons, can't create a problem. Seems like you've got something else going on there...
Regarding the Impulse and SDC version number variations- I just love pointing to this thread 'cuz it does such a fine job of clarifying this, particularly reply #18 [link="https://forums.wincustomize.com/309602"]WWW Link[/link] Short version- the last 3 digits aren't necessarily going to be the same between Impulse and SDC. Use the most current version from whichever one you want (Impulse or SDC) and "fugget about it". :) You might miss something important happening while yo
You don't say if you're on XP or Vista, but if it's XP (and maybe for Vista too) did you apply the "Windows Classic" skin from within the Windowblinds Configuration before you uninstalled Windowblinds? If not, (don't cringe) re-install WB, load the Windows Classic skin (1st skin on the left). See if you can get the systray back at that point. If you can, then I'd reboot once again at that point, then it should boot back up without WindowBlinds loaded and the classic theme show
[quote]Me also, my Sub expires near the end of June... I wonder if anyone other than us two, (meaning "Rumour Control" or whatever StarDock calls Support & Information nowadays), will post to this topic before then ??? [/quote] How in the heck should anyone, particularly any of us who aren't part of Stardock, know the answers to any of the questions you've asked. Seriously.
[quote]As much as the school rivalry in me wanted to do certain things to certain teams that is the exact reason why it isn't allowed. [/quote] You could always make yourself a few DTX layers to, uh, "enhance" some of them if it'd make you feel better ;)
Maybe you'd like the Omni Slideshow widgets. There are 2 versions: [link="https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.aspx?skinid=733&libid=34"]WWW Link[/link] and [link="https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.aspx?skinid=652&libid=34"]WWW Link[/link] Both have resizing options, 25%-50%-75%-100% I think, neither will enlarge. Both run better when run with a right-click or a shortcut like any other .exe file, I think they get odd if you use the DesktopX Import/Wi
Yep, it worked. The Diamond theme was a little cranky with Icon Packager at first (crashed it), but after a couple of re-boots and theme switches it straightened itself out (is this thing "self-healing" ) and I just mention it here in case DaveBax runs into it. Thanks guys, didn't want to botch it all right up front. Off to send "Never Mind" to support.
and the last 3 digits of the version of programs (the .046 here) will vary between impulse and SDC and can be ignored. This thread, particularly the last post, did a fine job of clearing all this up for me: [link="https://forums.wincustomize.com/309602"]WWW Link[/link] My over-simplified interpretation: Choose your weapon (Impulse or SDC) to watch for updates, and don't worry about the last 3 digit variation. :)
Zubaz- Following the Diamond link on the free gallery takes you to CNet, and it looks like (?) that download would want to install MyColors again. Does a person want to do that? I've just very recently asked support about this, if you can get DaveBax and I straightened out at the same time I'll send them a "never mind". Thanks.
Could he - Open up the log file in notepad Click somewhere on the text Press [Ctrl]A to select all of the text Press [Ctrl]C to copy it all to the clipboard Click on the "Add A Reply" text window here on the forum Press [Ctrl]V to paste the text to the "Add A Reply" text window ?
Thanks Philly, ya I think that covers it pretty much exactly (almost to the point of being creepy  ) Fair enough. Guess I'll go load up MyColors. Thanks.
[quote]MyColors is not ThemeManager, but it there will eventually be a version that replaces ThemeManager. It's a much more simplified way to deliver the themes, and it also gives us a way to deliver updates when available.[/quote] Ugh, now I'm a little confused, thought I had a handle on this. Will there be some sort of a theme manager, regardless of what it's called, which will be maintained and allow me to apply the Object Desktop Premium Themes that I've bought? D
Thanks Bebi Bulma! It even took care of them on the limited users, I was kind of wondering if it would be limited to the Admin it was run under. That's better. Odd the little things I can get fixated on! Thanks again!
Ya and of course now that it's been brought up I find myself sitting here staring at the little rectangle that I can't seem to get rid of  Never even noticed it before and now it bugs me. I've never had TuneUp utilities loaded up, and I'm not going to buy it (if my google search pointed me to the same one they're talking about) to see if it'll get rid of my rectangles. I did have Norton System works on here for awhile and it had a tweaker with it, maybe that's where it came fro
(I really need to start remembering to refresh my forum page before I reply to something after I've been poking around for awhile - the horse had already left the barn on this one. )
I saw that your screen shot is the same one I have loaded right now, so I thought "Let's see." Yep, I get the same outline. I tried re-applying the skin which sometimes helps this old bucket of bolts deal with some graphics issues, but no change. Judging from I.R.'s skins, if he says he knows what it is and can't get rid of it, I believe him :) Don't know how you were dodging it before, maybe you've just looked at everything closer after the crash? - I know I do. :)
The "blue trapezoid" you're getting looks like the "Vector Cell" dock background. I think that's the default dock but I can't swear to it. So it seems like what you're really seeing is an empty dock with nothing in it. That doesn't quite make sense to me at this point, but without worrying about that, can you add a shortcut to the dock? Easiest thing to do might be just to load your shortcuts back into it.
Looks like this should do the trick: [link="https://forums.wincustomize.com/307189"]WWW Link[/link] Have fun with the new computer. :)
[quote]Would you prefer a snap to location while manually moving the dock or a setting in the menu saying, posistion = center?[/quote] Menu position = center would probably be better. Some of the backgrounds aren't really centered within themselves (particularly with shadows on the right side) and if they snap to center some will probably still appear off-center, and you won't be able to nudge them a little. :)
[quote] Apologies if I seem chronically stupid.[/quote] entertaining and polite. I'll take it, works for me.
(psssst, Seabass....hear anything back on this? thanks.)
Might want to double check your CMOS/BIOS settings to make sure they didn't get reset on you (unplugging an old machine with a weak motherboad battery, BIOS Flash failure). What you're describing is pretty extreme, those settings are easy enough to check as long as you know what they should be on your machine, good enough place to start.
I keep the edges of my program windows a little off the edge of the screen where I have docks. I don't run apps with the window maximized. In other words, I set my screen up so that I'm not having to get my mouse right next to the edge where a dock is. As I read this it seems a dash snitty, but it's not intended to be, that's just how I keep the docks from popping up. :)
