Does anyone happen to know where the SkinStudio8 folder gets installed to on a normal install?
I have it in the skins directory, C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Stardock\WindowBlinds.

Of course I got curious now so I fooled with it a little bit. For what it's worth, the launching functions within WB don't work on any of my Standard logins but do work on my Admin login. Also, I do have UAC enabled in case it matters. I don't at all mind launching it directly. [e digicons]:)[/e]
Never been broken for me, and I use that quite frequently. With SkinStudio installed, you can obviously launch it with a shortcut, OR, you can launch it when you right click on a skin in Windowblinds and choose "edit".
"You made me look" [e digicons];)[/e] Nope, still broken for me, neither the gear command nor the skin right-click works here. Same result as Digicoma. Hasn't worked for me fo
Recently I needed to update a skin and when I went to launch Skin Studio from within WindowBlinds. it simply opened my web browser to Stardock's Skin Studio web page.
I think that function broke a while back, but I'm not positive. It's been broken for me, and I haven't relocated the skins etc. Once you have SkinStudio installed, you should be able to launch it from the Start Menu (under Stardoc
Looks like he might dry his hair by poking his head into a clothes dryer. Whatever turns his crank, as long as he doesn't cause trouble. Maybe it would work for other leaders too?
I really liked Windows 11 when I had it installed. My desktop did not meet the requirements for Win 11 so I got the patched version and installed from a USB stick. Installation went fine. I was running it for a couple weeks , then things started happening. It seemed to stop loading updates and my PC would just randomly shut down for no apparent reason. I mean it would literally shut off. I would have to manua
Windows 8 is a great case and point.
Now that you mention it, Win8 had a similarity to Win11 in that Win8 had 2 specific CPU requirements (which I've forgotten other than it wasn't "speed"), and my processor at the time - again, not that old - didn't happen to have those. I didn't buy a new machine then either. At least I'm rather consistent in that regard. [e digicons];)[/e]

One other thing I should mention, since Icon Packager is not listed as compatible with Win11: The previous version of Icon Packager was not compatible with Win10. Some people were having luck running it on Win10. Sometimes though, when people uninstalled that version of Icon Packager on Win10, it corrupted the links to the default Win10 icons and people were left without icon images. I don't know whether or not it's and issue with Win11. So, for now, I would
How can this be corrected?
I don't have Win11, but if you like you can try this: Apply an icon package twice, in this order: 1. Right-click on the shortcut and "Run as Administrator". Load the package. Exit Icon Packager. 2. Left-click normally on the shortcut. Load the package. Exit. I found that to work better on Standard (Non-Admin) Sign-ins on XP and Win10. "Run as Admin" does of course also load the package

I'm afraid I'm not very well-versed in icon management. Someone else might know. Also, I did see in the comment I referenced above that the newer versions of Open Shell should work, in case you didn't get down that far and would prefer an newer version.

I found this rather thorough remark regarding Classic Shell/Open Shell, reply #152 in case the link doesn't drop to it. Looks like you may need a different version of Open Shell. https://forums.wincustomize.com/502919/page/7/#3818602

As an additional note: I'm also seeing the TB transparency failure in WB. After seeing that and thinking other people would be yelling, I uninstalled Start11, ran the purge routine, and re-installed Start11. It didn't help. I've check it on three different sign-ins - my usual limited, my seldom-used limited, and my Admin. I'm not being impatient, just felt it would be worth adding. Thanks.
Sorry, DaveRI,
Somehow I don't think we're talking about the same thing. (?) I think you're referring to #4 here: https://www.wincustomize.com/terms-of-service which is the TOS for WinCustomize and is referring to the WinCustomize user account. I'm talking about being logged in on your computer with two different user logins for tha

Jim, here's one other thought for what it's worth - If you're finding yourself wanting to look at Curtains skins and primarily running WB, set up or use another user login and leave it loading with Curtains. You can then just "Switch User" to poke at the Curtains skins, avoids the full log out/in. I've used that approach when parked in Curtains and wanting to look at WB/SKS.
Don't think its a big thing since not everyone will be keep changing between Curtains and WB every few hours.
For what it's worth, it doesn't really bother me, and somehow it's understandable to me that a log off/in would be very helpful when switching programs that skin Windows.
