I know this feature was not in Start11 v1, hence why I ended up abandoning that software. Is this a feature in v2, or one that we can expect at some point in the future?
What did you end up doing rather then use start 11. Vanilla Windows 11? If not, Start 11 v2 has actually improved on its ability to work with other 3rd party software.

As stated by the developer, Start 11 will not be affected by the 24h2 update. From what I can tell only apps that use window 10 parts, such as explorerpatcher and startallback, will be affected by this update. So if by chance you are using explorerpatcher with start 11 then explorerpatcher will break it during the update. Otherwise you are good to go
I wouldn't have guessed that to work. I am glad you found a way to make it work since you are happy with Fences 3 [e digicons][/e]
I would like to add that fences 2 - 4 seem to gave been removed from the OD download options even if you resubscribe. However, resubscribing to your classic OD subscription is still probably the best way to get Fences 5 on your PC. A general rule of thumb for OD software is to save the installers on your pc somewhere so you will always have them when you need them
I think the core issues all started when start 11 v2 was released. Even though Start 11 v2 actually stayed in the framework and pricing Stardock had used for years, people still complained about that release as well. I even actually saw a few people state that start 11 v2 should be a subscription because they don't want to have to pay for the next version every time it is released. I never actually agreed with these people as I actually think Start 11 v2 is the right way of doing software. Bu
For as long as I can remember, software and games have struggled finding their way on Apple devices unless they are meant to be part of the apple ecosystem. This isn't a problem that is unique to how stardock does business.
edit - just realized 26100 was released on the dev channel, leaked a couple days earlier. I didn't know that was 24h2 preview. Is it worth it?
I had to look this one up because Microsoft has not released 24h2 at all yet. It does appear there is a leaked version in circulation. I'm not sure I want to install it, but am curious what 24h2 actually has? @Niel start 11 is also the better product so nothing to worry about [e digicons]B)[/e]
For anyone that has ever asked for Fences / Start 11 to become a subscription AND never actually subscribed to Object Desktop should have be disqualified from this request.
Fences 4, that was an active version of Fences when your sub was active will function and activate until the sun explodes.
I am disappointed that Fences 4 will not work once the sun explodes. This was not clear in the ula agreement. I mean if we do end up being able to colonize another solar system what is the point of life if we cant run Fences 4?
You may need to rebuild your start menu, but it may be worth it long term anyways. Start 11 v2 offers several features such as tabs and multiple pages. Personally, I find my start menu deviating a bit from what I would use from a traditional windows 10 / 11 version. When I migrated to Windows 11 from Windows 10 I disliked the new native start menu for various reasons. I don't think I would be as happy on Windows 11 without start 11. I think the most sensible option for you wou
does anyone have any thoughts about using them together? Or is it better to regard them as completely independent?
I am willing to bet object dock could be used two ways for two different types of users. 1. It replaces the traditional taskbar. In this case start 11 and object dock would benefit from closer ties with things such as the start menu. However things like notification area are not yet incorporated. or 2. The way I prefer to use i

Math does not favor the permanent license model with Fences unfortunately. Unless you plan on upgrading Fences every 5 years (7.99 per year takes about 4 years to equal the 30 dollar permanent license cost). The cheapest way to get to Fences 5 is actually going to be with the subscription model.
There is currently no way to add a folder portals to object dock. But I do concur, I would like to see tabbed folder portals in some form from stardock
Currently it is not available. But I concur, a tabbed folder portal option is something I would like to see in some form from stardock
You wont see it for 'Folder Portals' (what you have pictured there) but will for regular Fences...
edit - you are correct. I do use folder portals more then regular fences with Fences 5.
basj and pelaird, thank you so much for your help! Where can I purchase/download Start11 v1?
The one and only place start 11 v1 is currently available to download and install is through an Object Desktop subscription. As a stand alone product it has been discontinued.
'Within my Fence' is a bit out of the scope of this Alpha test. The goal here is to see that icons on the Desktop (outside of a Fences), and the Fences themselves, behave in an expected \ desirable manner when monitors, connection types (HDMI, DVI, etc), resolutions, and scaling change. As for your issue, try setting all Fences sorts to 'Name' and 'maintain sorting'
I am not seeing any of those new sorting rule
Are you sure people with WB11 individual purchase don't have SS11 in their download page?
I have an individual WB11 myself and can confirm it does not include a link to skinstudio. The only time I see a skinstudio in "My downloads" is with an active Object Desktop subscription. It is also stated to work this way in Windowblinds 11 support FAQ
I do not believe non OD subscribers have an OD list in their downloads. As the OP has stated his downloads do not list skinstudio... You can find it in the Windowblinds 11 support FAQ here https://forums.stardock.com/486023/windowblinds-support-faq
This is the 16x16-32 icon from GroupyConfig.exe. It looks nothing like the icon in basj's post at Reply #11. Very Strange. Basj, is your screenshot from a Windows 10 machine?
I figured this one out as well. Basj icon is seems to be at present at 100% scale. Any other scale seems to switch to the other icon. This is still kind of strange.
I suspect it is the 125% scaling. Non integer scaling is prone to small differences in rounding behaviour.
Neil, you are correct 125% scale is in fact the issue. Issue persists @ 120 - 125% scale but the issue is actually fixed at the custom scale of 126% Not too bad of a change for me. I am glad you figured out the issue. It was driving me crazy
Happy to note that no new issues were found in this build. Unfortunately, I only have one monitor so I am not able to test multi monitor use. I will gladly keep testing the alpha's as they are released.
What scale factor is your display set to?
1080p @ 125% scale I am also running on Windows 11 pro (perhaps the pro model is the variable?)
