Do you allow the game to go longer so you can grow your population? I think you have hit the nail on the head here. The scoring system seems to reward, mindless clicking on end turn to get your population up, once u know u have as good as won the game. A character on metaverse scored 750, 000 points by playing a game for 45 years ( I suspect

his swimming in his own private ocean I always wondered who owned the Pacific ocean, now I know!
Played RTS and I do not really like them, much prefer turn based games. Don't get me wrong some RTS r fantastic but I just do not like losing because I can not move a mouse fast enough or click fast enough. This is what most RTS come down too on the high levels. The only RTS games I really like have a pause feature, so you can think and plan your mouse clicks in advance. Games like GC 2 make u think. Its very rewarding when a strategy comes off for the first time. GC 2 games do n
I am --very frequently-- getting errors when trying to view posts, a sure sign that the server or its software is having capacity issues. Same here, glad its not just me.
Play on suicidal all the time and never lost. The huge production bonuses they get just means u have more to destroy in a war U after micro manage the early part of the game, if u achieve a advantage in planets then there is no need to micro manage. Construct a strong defense (military starbases), then u can play whatever way u want really. I don't use cheese tactics and still win. The
A "simple" way to implement fighters in the game would be to add them as a new type of weapon Good idea, how about a new weapon tech tree in the expansion? Carriers with fighters (instead of ,or as well as beam/missile/mass driver). We know a death/terror star is going to be in the expansion, so how about the ultimate end of the car
I have never seen it happen, in fact never seen the AI come close to winning ever! Perhaps its just me?
strange - on many of the games I play the altarians are among the strongest races Altarians are usually the strongest race in my games This is true of all the games I have played, they always
have never played with slow tech so I don't know what effect that would have on the AI It seems odd that the AI would play that way on gifted. I do not think tech rate is an issue, I have played on very slow tech and the AI's at gifted take a huge tech lead which makes the game really hard to win. Gifted AI's play far, far better then outlin
When saving a ship design, you should have the option of saving it to a library which is associated with only the current game and which is not loaded with any other save game, or to the global library which persists between saved games. Great idea
Being creative does help you randomly get a tech for free, from what iv had its the next tech in line from what you research and it happens just as you research that tech, I was researching mass drivers III and instantly got mass driver IV upon completion Happened to me too, when u complete research on 1 tech, gives u next 1 for free <img src=
I am happy with military starbases the way they are. They r a life safer on suicide level, when the AI quickly go to hostile with u. I use them for defense, I find trying to intercept incoming hordes of fleets great, had several close calls where the AI nearly overwhelmed me. Its too time consuming using them in attack through and no need to do so. You should be able to beat the AI with normal fleets by that stage, I always can. I have found that when the AI sends his horde against u, which
GC 2 was a rare game, one of the few I paid full price, usually wait a while and get the original at a reduced/budget price. This was based on GC 1 which I loved. Think the new release price is too expensive of most games, but GC 2 is an exception as I will get real value for money with months of playability. Several friends of mine use copied games and I will not lend them GC 2 because I know they will copy it. I have thus persuaded 2 of them to fork out the price of the game because its so
This is minor except that it appears that I could vote again, over and over. I have not tried it but could the voting be cheated like this? Yes it can, I have voted multiple times, alot of online surveys have the same flaw.
5 factories per planet is a good rule of thumb, if u have a 300% manufacturing bonus then 2, 100% then 4 etc..... Gives u very balanced ship building. Later on in a planets development when its built everything, upgrade them to other buildings. Works for me.
Once you know that and play accordingly you'll find it hard to lose on tough. Doh! Play on a higher level then! Try suicidal with no tech trading, beat that, then u can come back here and complain the game is too easy.
I think that when u get the announcement U.P. meeting next week, u should be allowed to bribe other races into voting as u do, or u get to cast there influence vote for the next U.P. meeting only. Make the cost progressively higher depending on what level you play at, so they want huge amounts at suicide level, on cakewalk they pay u to use there vote <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/
If you use a normal race's remaining ability points, do you show up as a Custom race when you complete a Metaverse game, or do you get that race's icon? No u don't. U only show up as custom if u select it when choosing your race. My second question is about the Race Victory medal that some Metaverse gamers have. Specifically, how do you get that one? Just play 1 race only every game to keep the medal (or just more games as that race, then any other).
ymene, u r now entering the twilight zone, the Arceans r coming for u! Seriously, i think its just your playing style, settings etc..... just suit friendship, alliance with the Arceans. They r a very, very easy race to get on with. In 12+ games i have never had a war with the Arceans. Alot of the neutrals leave u alone if u leave them alone (and keep your military rating high).<
Out of interest what map settings do you play meglobob? Now, i always play against the full 9 races on suicide level. Unfortunately my computer struggles to cope with Gigantic, abundant everything. I did play 1 game like this but it slowed to a crawl, so i went for a easy tech victory just to end the game. Probably large, 9 races, suicide le
won 2 out 3 on masochist with 1.1 beta 4, with 1.1 I am a broken man. hats off to the guys playing and winning on suicidal. Cheers! If u can not beat the AI at a certain level(masochist in your case), try playing 1 vs 1 on a tiny map, it helps to develope a winning strategy which u can go on and use in bigger games. U can observe the AI bet
I hope u can win by alliance victory in 1.1 as i am playing on suicide level as the Terrans, got alot of races to warm but none above yet. The Yor r cool however, which is wierd, as they have +++ and only - reactiion to me? I have done nothing to upset them, given them freebies and we do not even share a bordor. So what gives? I know they naturally hate all biological lifeforms but surely they could make an exception for a silver tongued devil like me?
I've always thought of the Vorlons as lawful netural, not lawful good. The Vorlons were an enigma, supposedly Lawful Good (they appeared as angels remember, who virtually r always considered LG). I was a big Babylon 5 fan and loved the mysterious, secretive Vorlons. Consider this, the reason given in the series they appeared as ange
Building an influence base near a culturally weak planet, and selling back after it rebels each time; Pull 90% of the population off some weak planet in the middle of your empire, sell it off, and wait for it to revert to your control; Paying off a rival to make peace with the empire you're about to crush; Sell all your rivals fairly powerful ships with zero defen
Now, if only I could do the same against the frickin' Dread Lords! Wars of attrition do NOT work against them. They do, but i would not recommend them, my longest game ever was the apocalypse scenario, a real war of attrition against the dreadlords. Two and a half week slugfest, where i tried to go toe to toe vs the dreadlords, it was murder
