Be wary, currently the Torians have sensor +30%, meaning the sensors for any of their ship is at least 30. And this means that they can see lots of races on small map and initiate tech exchange. I've been playing the beta and all races (save the humans - or your custom race) can't start with stellar catography. What are you exactly meaning
Peace Phoenix
Second, random events do not target PQ 0 worlds. They target low PQ worlds. Especially Wisp. Oh, most especially Wisp. Indeed, I've yet to see a random event that improves PQ to target any world OTHER then Wisp until after Wisp has been improved. Well, I got the event with Wisp. But it is an United Planet event. But I have witnessed a random event t
At its turn, the battleship fires all its weapons at a single target.
In my tests with GC2 even the very slow tech option seems way to fast for my liking. Have you tried medium map, 9 major and rare habitable planets?
will you be able to download it from Stardock Central? Yes. You just need to have a GC2 serial Id.
Again, if you cannot use them, then they don't serve a purpose. What do they do? Decorate the map? Isn't that what the atrocious background is for already? Well, PQ 0 worlds have no direct use. But events can target them and make them useful: - artifact that raises PQ of uncolonized world - being home for new minor (in which case they becom
Perhaps ships should be allowed to use excess firepower (or a part of it) to shoot at the next target having destroyed the last one. That might be tricky since the huge excess of power might allow to kill the ennemy ship: the attacker rolls a random number between 1 and the total attack value of the kind of weapon. So you get more chance to hit (defe
I would like to see the computer assign a certain number of ships to destroy a target and not be overkill. Well, it is the case: there isn't any overkill. But the computer doesn't assign all ships before they fire at a target. The algorithm (based on some tests I have made on the beta) is the following: - Fleet A starts. - ship A1 in flee
You don't know strategy, so you obviously can't program it in. Strange I have always thought that strategy is how win a war while tactic is how to win a battle. But I may be wrong. That just means the player with the
If each ship would target another ship then great. If it's let us watch the whole fleet target one ship at a time then we are back at the kind of strategy where we all stand in a line facing eachother and fire until the other side runs out of soldiers. Are you telling us that you want each ship to choose a different foe and not try to kill first a f
That is, if you have an option to not watch fleet battles. Well, you have it. There are lots of options associated with battle and fleet battle. Perhaps some basic element of tactical maneouver can be incorporated in
What are your setting for tactical level view?
I have played a bit with fleets and was annoyed by various things: 1) I have increased my logistic ability, from 14 to 22. So I decided to go to all the rally points where I have fleets and change them. But since I have fleets with a logistic value of 12, I need to split some. The only easy way is the hot key U. But with the mouse, you need to select the fleet, move it to a square without any other ship/fleet. Then you can disband the fleet and you need then to move all ships toward the oth
From the user manual: "In a fleet battle, the attacking side adds together all of its attacks against a single defending ship, even if the defender is also a fleet (in which case the most lethal but most easily destroyed defending ship is targeted first) ". It isn't very clear that if the defending ship is killed and not all attacking ships have fired, they will target another ship.
Are we not able to control whhich ships we fire at first? We don't have any control on ships. If the fleet is comprised of a battleship and 4 small weak fighters, knowing the only ship that maybe able to do damage t
Aren't those of us who bought the game prior to the close of the public beta last month all part of the closed beta? Only if you have a sufficient access level (at least diplomat I think).
Do you mean we have to pay money every year to get updates to games that we already bought! As previously said: if they're doing things like they did with GalCiv 1, they'll offer a full year of update service with GalCiv 2
Concentration of firepower until the enemy is dead Too bad, I fear it isn't the case but concentration of power against one ship each round. Well, I was able to finally test a fleet of 10 medium ships again
Well, I have finally done some testing. It appears that fleet had the following comportement: - first ship of the fleet fires at one target, damage is calulated - if ennemy isn't killed, second ship targets it again. If it is killed, second ship targets a new ship. Damage is calculated - repeat previous step for all ships in the fleet. So the fleet has a correct targetting algorithm. I got a fleet of 10 medium ships, each with 8 gun attack to have attacked a fleet of 4
But here's the thing--adding tac combat adds tremendously to the game and takes away nothing, if it is an on off option Well, since thge developpers haven't unlimited funds and time, for a given budget, implementing tactical battle means throwing something else. And being an off option doens't change anything for developpers since the game must corr
i did think of PvP Well, GC ( I and II) isn't build with PvP implemented. Thats is why the AI is so important.
Since this is a turnbased combat the ships probably don't attack ALL AT ONCE, just all the same target. So if the target is destroyed by the first (second, third) ship in a fleet, the rest of the fleet probably goes on destroying the next enemy ship, right? Well, I am not sure that it is the case. I fear that they fire all their weapons all at once.
While we breathe air with oxigen I guess some other race could find it poisonous and would prefer methane Then I will ask a very stupid question: can intelligent life appear and live in an air with methane?
Anyway, the system is dumb. Possible. But I feel it is consistent with the way population increases: 200 Millions per week per planet. And your starting planet has 5 billion people at the beginning of the game.
Given the fact that one way to limit unhappiness on a planet is to limit the maximumum population by limiting the food produced on this planet, I hope that no food is spend between planet. It would become a hell to keep planet happy with a population growth that can't be controlled.
