See, this is why there isn't enough charity in the US and why people are living below the poverty line (reference greywar's latest). With cancer. And stuff.

Yeah, definitely back in the swing of things today. Still sore as Hell from Saturday. Hamstrings are tight and my core (especially my lower back) is screaming at me, too. Due to lightning, we moved PT into the gym this morning. 20 minutes light work on the elliptical machine, then triceps extension, ab machine, chest press, sets of crunches, trice

You have a good point; none of us need another person to be happy. This is a point that several of the self-help books that I've read (mostly during and after my divorce) hit upon, and it struck a chord with me then, as it does now. It can be much more satisfying to find happiness within yourself. You actually owe it not only to yourself but to your future potential partner to find that inner happiness. Working on your own shortcomin

For the first time since I've been here (and according to one senior NCO, for the first time in the three years that he's been here), our unit held a marksmanship range specifically for cadre. Usually, we'll only get to fire if there are rounds left over at a student range and the cadre range safeties feel like shooting a rifle. I haven't even been to the ran

pseudo: I really like your suggestions. I am not consistent with how the children earn or receive money. We do the stickers for credits for Fun Factory thing (and they can buy back items they've lost due to a dirty room), but other times I just give them money...lol, and then other times I tell them no.Thanks for the suggestions.

I've told her a lot about you Joe Users, and she said that she wished she could meet each and every one of you! She could always start blogging here. It wouldn't be the first regular's mother that participated.

I had been thinking of this since you first posted the article, but I will now quote you for truthery: It is probably a bad thing that I assumed this article would be Army related from the title.

In all honesty, that's pretty close to what I would have suggested. I don't know if X gets a regular allowance; one suggestion I have seen is to have them get an allowance not normally tied to chores (yes, paying them for chores might make them learn about working to earn a wage, but then they might just decide to live off of MommyDaddyWelfare). Extra chores could be paid for, like you're doing. I've also seen some suggest to have like a "company st

So, the 25th was PT test day, and I indulged in pizza for dinner. The 26th was a "not so good" day, and I indulged in pizza at all three meals. :P The 27th was alright until the evening when I got really really bored and ate (bad plan). Yesterday featured a mediocre effort topped off by chinese buffet. PT was better than my diet, in general. After my s

You can feel sorry for him and want to help him out, but you have a greater responsibility to yourself. Even if you've forgiven him for what he has done (which I'm not sure you have), forgive =/= forget. You can have forgiven him completely and still not trust him to not mess with your head and your heart again. I don't even think you owe him a lot of politeness when (if) you email him back. The fact that he's calling you because his girlfr

when inspections are done they are typically looking only at safety features and perhaps environmental features. Perhaps you're right. I'm disappointed in the article; I don't think I wrote it well or got across the point that I wanted. It's a type of personal parable less than a factual relat

Since I moved here, I had been using a particular oil change place. In early December, when I noticed my Oil light would come on around turns (I assumed this would mean that my oil was low), I went in to get my oil changed. I figured that I either had some oil burning in the engine or that I had a leak. I asked the attendant to check to see if there were any obvi

Instructor: "... and that's how the United States intelligence community works. The President is in charge overall, like with the military, but the rest of it reports up to him; there are people who prepare a lot of reports so he sees only the most relevant information for decision-making. Of course, a good intelligence analyst will only report the facts and reasonable conclusions and avoid coloring their reports with their own predispositions."

It's 0630 and I'm already having a very shit day. I'm going to be using some of the pizza leftover from last night to massage my hurt feelings and general pissed-offedness. On the flip side, I did a light 20 minutes on the eliptical machine, some ab machine and then some good leg press (12 reps of 230#, 8 reps of 250# and 8 reps of 270#). But I

There will come a day when he's going to get a rude awakening, and I'm trying to minimize the impact of that. Oh, yeah, I know what you're talking about. Mostly I was just funning you. I didn't get my rude awakening for a long while, not until I flunked out of college (and I still had the safety net

This morning, I did 54 pushups, 65 situps and ran the 2-miles in 15:53. That gives me a score of 230 out of 300. Sub-16 minutes on the run is actually really good for me. My pushups are about where I've been and my situps went down a few repetitions, but overall my score went up slightly (I think 7 points). I'm strongly considering taking anoth

pseudo: Hahaha, I'm so lame. I don't know that song. It's old school DM. I don't think you're lame for not knowing it... I was actually bracing myself for accusations of "lame" to be aimed at me for suggesting/liking DM in the first place. Good luck with your "mix tape."

At our wedding, we had Somebody , a Depeche Mode song, this version performed by Veruca Salt played. It was "our song" (but her choice), but that album makes me think of her. (The whole album, For The Masses , a tribute to Depeche Mode, makes me think of her, actually.) Bad for me, but I still like the song (and the album) anyway. If that particular one doesn't do it for you, something else by DM would surely be appropriate.</fo
