1) Yeah, but it's still a negotiation situation. You want something I have, and you think you have something to offer in exchange, thus you approach me for an offer. (If I agree, fine - it's a win-win since both parties are happy.) However, you do want to give as little and gain as much as possible, so you offer something, but have some leeway in order to close the deal. If it's a take-it-or-leave-it situation, I must assume that the race I'm dealing with doesn't have an inkling as to the art of

I really can't see why I shouldn't be able to ask for more (have you never negotiated?). I can see that that would easily lead my opponent to withdraw his offer ("That doesn't seem like a good deal to us"), but that's where the danger of demanding more should lay. And yes, I should not be able to see what resources my opponent has, i.e. if I ask for an additional sum of, say, 100, and that's not available to him - he simply can't accept the deal, and I've lost my chance ;)
Ted: I'll second that!
1. If one of the other races wants to talk to me, the various fields to pick from are blank (money, systems, techs, etc.) When hitting reject (or accept), all the texts become visible. 2. I've been playing a game for a couple of nights, and all seem to have been going well. Tonight, however, without any warning, the game just exited upon hitting the turn button. No debug information or anything else. Just "poof". I can provide both a screen shot for (1) and the saved game for (
I've just downloaded the beta 3, but when I try to run the program, I just get a message stating that I'm missing "binkw32.dll". Any clues, anyone?
Hear, hear! But then again, we might be the only two people wanting them? At least we need to have the @-issue solved, one way or the other.
In one of my games, I managed to trade a technology that I was currently researching. When I then tried to change my research to a different tech.....POOF! Exit to desktop :( Unfortunately I've had serious trouble with the MCP/SE, so SE isn't currently installed, and I can't send any files (not even the saved game, since it's no longer there). I assume it's something in the code that's creating a conflict, and probably easy to fix ;)
Wasn't there a tech tree available on the net made by someone at one stage? In any case, I might have to power up the old pc and play a little GC/2 this weekend, maybe I find the tech tree among the files on that computer. I never got around to seeing a class 32 planet anyway. I never got higher than 27, even when I researched my way to omnipotence.
I noticed that I can attack and destroy a ship from another civilization without declaring war. I assume that that'll be changed at some point?
I also get the MCP-whatever error at start-up (win2k). Somewhat annoying, so if anyone has a clue as to what it might be....???
The galactic wonder in question was the Crystalai and improved all the planets by one class, i.e. all planets with class 15 would be terraformed to class 16 and so on. Only one race could research this wonder to completion, so I remember I used to hurry to be the one to get that extremely useful bonus LOL
Fredrik going for lowest: You couldn't get lower than 30? Amature LOL Seriously, is it possible to score "0"? AND Hows bout them intl characters? Them Scandinavians would like to insert the universially recognized characters of "äæöøå / ÄÆÖØÅ" ;) Not to mention the at-character of "@" (= altgr+2). I hope it's being considered for the beta.
When you start a new game, you can choose what alignment the various races should have by adjusting the sliders. If you want to not know in advance, you use the randomize buttons. However, there's nothing to tell you wether one or the other is active (if you understand what I mean). Wether you choose to set the values yourself or you choose random, there should be some sort of visual feedback on the screen.
Remember the words of Nigel St. Tufnel of the great heavy metal band Spinal Tap: "There's a fine line between clever and stupid." (In my opinion, one of the truely great movies of all time :)
I've turned the music off at one point. However, when I start a new game, the menu says that it's still turned off, but it's actually turned on. And the other way around, as in my present game.
I managed to do it AGAIN!!! (Look at the time stamps on my two posts LOL )
I keep hitting "Exit" to exit the dialog box, but that only leaves me quite frustrated ;) I suggest you change it to "Exit game" and "Continue game" or something like that. I know it's not a big deal, but I keep hitting that darn button anyway LOL
I got the same error while playing last night :(
This looks a lot like something from "The Corporate Machine". I've worked my way to monopoly or bankruptcy several times ;)
I've experienced several times with different builds that the program exits just when I've finished researching a tech and the music's began. Turning music off seems to cure the problem, though that can't be the solution. Well, actually I usually play with music off anyway, but am I the only one who's had this experience?? I've kept the SE file, if any of you at Stardock wants it.
... with a penalty to moral, if my memory serves me :)
The game has to allow you to unload a colony ship unto a populated planet. If you have a colony ship with no place to go, you need to take care of the people on board and take them to a safe place. Otherwise you should be punished on morale, or the people on the colony ship should automatically be added to the planet from where they came. I definitely would like to be able to add to a populated planet from a colony ship if I don't see any good planets around. In GC/2, some times you would ha
I remember I used to rush to research enough techs to allow me to create the Crystalei (or something like that), so that all my planets increased by one class. Ahhh, memories.... LOL
What do you mean when you say that freighters are automatically recreated? Does it mean that the planet of origin stops building other ships to replace a lost freighter? If that's the case, I'd rather have a dialog showing the current status of my shipyard and giving me the option of building a replacement. Replacing a lost ship necesserily cost money. Again, will I be able to determine for myself wether or not to part with parts of my funds? If a trade route only yields say 1 credit of
I haven't tried to submit scores, but I guess that the problem also applies to 'æÆ' and 'øØ' and other national keyboards. The norwegian (and danish?) keyboard layout also has @ as ALTGR+2.
