What did Smartexception report?
There are....check the detail-page (may be called somthing else - dont remember) on a planet. (The same page where you set that the system willbe controlled by a govenor.)
Excellent idea. Me want too :)
I'd rather have it continue scrolling the direction I was dragging when I got the the edge of the screen. Or atleast stop scrolling. Not reversing scrolling back anyway..
Im sometimes using the newer "grabscroll" (lmb on empty space and drag around), but when I reach the end of the screen, it conflicts with the old type of scrolling - so it scrolls back, in the wrong direction. I think I posted this sometime earlier but cant find the thread so Im doing a new port to remind ya :)
just wanted to bring back this old thread on the list to remind the SD'ers about this bug :)
Okies. On to the next q - Why that in the logo?
Hehe yeah, sure, I have XP there. So I'm glad anyway :) Was more surprised that the game started at all on WinNT, knowing it's not the best platform for games :)
Yeah. check the contents of the debug.err file in the galciv-directory. That might give some hints. Feel free to post it here.
Yeah, I managed to connect to the server the day after. Noticed that the news-server and the OD-servers were unrechable as well.
lol. I think the maximum on WinNT is directX 2.0 or something (supplied with a servicepack) So it isnt 7 :)
From the Strategy First website: Minimum System Requirements Windows 98/Me/2000/XP PII 300 MHz Processor, 128 MB RAM, 600 MB Hard Disk Space, DirectX 7.0 Compatible Video Card with 4 MB VRAM and Monitor capable of supporting 1024x768 resolution.

And I'm sure you're right about the grenade. That character is also wearing a helmet, but a military-style - not a football helmet :)
The one to the right is holding a football, in the old logo he has a no 1 on his chest and wear a helmet.
From the Strategy First website: Strategy First was founded by four friends who shared a mutual passion for videogames. Don McFatridge (President), Steve Wall (V.P. Business Development), Richard Therrien (V.P. Product Development) and Dave Hill (V.P. Systems) Guess that's the four in the logo, but hmm what's the story....
I recently downgraded my work-pc to the company standard platform (WinNT) and decided to test GalCiv on in even tho the system requirements (from the Strategy First website) doesnt mention WinNT.. Game launches fine and is playable, but it seems like it doesnt like my soundcard. Debug Message: Initializing sound card. Debug Message: Error with CreateSoundBuffer: Error Code 87 ASSERT ERROR in file g:\projects\pear\source\digimix3.cpp at line 912. De
Yeah, AFAIK you dont need to go looking for the serial and enter it again once it can connect to the server. It should pop in there automaticly..
They seems to have some server or internet connectivity problem at SD. Would be a good idea if one were able to use DGM even tho it cant connect to a server (like when one launch drengin.exe)...and give an errormessage-popup instead of the account details dialog-box :) While Im at it....please consider implementing an option to set the download (temp) directory. I have limited space at my %temp% at home, and at work the logonscript deletes the %temp% so I'm not able to resume
I like no 2, but it makes me wonder how the AI would handle upgrades if they are unlimited...
Yup, I have the resnews_00.bik And just to point out from the errors above: There is both Gx\\anomally_data2.pcx Gfx\\anomally_data2.pcx among the errors, both spelled wrong...
"Unable to open file Gx\\anomally_data2.pcx" Ummm I have a file named Anomaly_Data2.pcx in my gfx-dir, but no anomally_data2.pcx in a gx-dir :)

I have this too. Happens on an old savegame as well as new started games after a few turns. Very odd.
