You may also get thrown into a tile next to an enemy and get blown to bits on the next turn. But then, the same could happen to an enemy's survey ship.

Sorry to bring up a very old arguement that has been hashed and thrashed to death since the first PC game came out, but while watching a DVD of Babylon 5, I think there is a way to "fix" space displays to solve the basic complaint of the horizontal vs diagonal tiles - the unproportional time it takes to get from one "corner" of a galacy to any of the other three corners. In the B5 "war room" they had a flat representation of the galacy marked off in hexagonal tiles. If PC space games

I think that was referencing the resource starbases No, this thread originated as referencing the "range of affect" of star base upgrades other than for galactic resources. A star base built on a galactic resource, and the star base upgrade modules for "mining" those galactic resources (such as "mining baracks") apply empire wide. Star base upg

And, according to Cari, it is the sphere of influence for the upgrade modules such as planetary production improvements and ship defense and offense capabilities. Another note on the irregularity and inconsistancy of the circles. They happen the same time that the segments change as the view is moved around. As in the minor and major FOW changing colors. (Hhhmmm. I may have to think of a better way to describe the FOW color changes, as I find it very annoying.)

I had expected the background music to change when I made peace with the only civ I was at war with (a negotiated peace initiated by me in a war initiated by the Drengin that had no battles or casualties), but the background music that started with the war is still playing several weeks later. (My relations with all of the other civs I have met is still, and always has been, peaceful.)

Are you deleting or obsoleting ships that still have ships using that design? Yes. Otherwise the list of ship designs could become confusing, and, with time, incoherent. Obsoleting a ship design only means that we have no further intent to build them (at least, not in the current game), not that we wish to be rid of those we have already built.

There are times when the hot keys do not do their assigned function. The keys I know about are tab ("find"), enter ("next turn"), and the arrow keys for ship movement. In each case it requires one mouse action (the substitute to the hot key works. Perhaps any mouse click would work) to unlock the hot keys.

1). What is the circle (blue for terrans?) that extends about 9 tiles around a selected star base? Does it represent the affective range of its upgrade modules, such as ship assistance (defensive or offensive), planetary production assistance, etc.? 2). The display of this circle is inconsistent, depending on how much the main view is zoomed in or out, where in the viewing area the star base is positioned, and where in the galaxy the star base is positioned (mine is a gigantic galaxy).

I just discovered a fourth civ (Arceans). When I brought up the foreign policy relations screen (done immediately) their banner (flag, whatever it is called) overlaid that of the Yor (only three banners showing with the third one an obvious merge of the Yor and Arcean banners - snap shot sent to Scott). Exiting the window and recalling it corrected the display.

When you load a saved game and it crashes, you may want to check the debug file. If the last line is something like "Debug Message: Can't find ship type FighterG+PMk1 in definitions" then you may have made a ship design obsolete or you may have deleted it. If so, see thread https://www.galciv2.com/Forums.aspx?ForumID=274&AID=92508

Too much is being deleted when a custom designed ship is obsoleted or deleted. The results is that GC2 will CTD when a saved game needing these files is restarted. The debug file will also have a line that reads similar to "Debug Message: Can't find ship type FighterG+PMk1 in definitions" as the last line in the file. Note: Since upgrading a design doesn't work at this build level (0.77(b).009) I can't tell what the results of an upgrade would be.

Just after reloading a game (1-2 turns) there was an election. I lost control of the senate, even though I enjoyed a 73% approval rate. Oddly, it shows my party as industrialists, even though I thought I had started the game as a Federalist. I took a snap shot and sent it to Scott.

It just doesn't seem likely. There are so few resources that it doesn't look like there can be more than 2 influence resources to develop, and I have an influence resource that I have almost fully developed. So please have Cari and/or Scott take a thorough look at the saved game I sent to them. Thanks.

Look out. There are two builds at the 0.77 level. Since the file GalCiv2.exe is the only difference between these builds it is a forgone conclusion that bugs that exist on the earlier build may not be in the later one, and vice versa. This could cause some confusion in issue reporting.

There is something really weird going on here. It looks like one civ has unbelievable influence and is on the far side of the galaxy from me. My influence is better away from my home planet than near it. I am getting cultural alerts in systems near my home planet. And there only seem to be six races (out of 10) with any cultural influence at all. The ability to query the influence of a sector that we had in GC1 is gone, so I can't get any data that way. I have saved the game and am sending

I reported this on a previous beta but I can't find the thread. The drop down for a ship completion will stop dropping when another screen, such as a tech research completion, appears. I sent a snap shot of this to Scott, and I still have a copy of the snap shot if anyone else would like a copy.
