We continue our look at the key warships of the Trader Emergency Coalition with the Akkan-class battlecruiser. The Akkan’s pre-war design had two main variants: one as a large colony transport ship, and the other as a leisure vessel. Once the war began, the Akkan was outfitted with heavier armor, weapons, and a basic hangar bay, though its primary role continued to be that of a transport. <p data-renderer-start-pos="

This is basically, in standard industry terms, a pre-alpha at best.
We've only just put out our first update on the Test Edition, so you haven't missed anything yet. :) We will be posting change logs to the Support forum here; and doing announcements around major updates (this first update is just bug fixes really). We'll also be linking to change logs more directly in-game in the future.
Starbases are coming - they just need a little refurbishment. :)
Now Available We're mid-way through November and development has been iterating internally based on the feedback we've gotten from players. This is a stability update to resolve issues we saw from the initial release while the team continues to work on December's larger update which includes new content. NOTE: This update is not save game compatible. Change Log:
We're mostly on Discord; but I do try to check in here daily. Another dev journal should be coming up soon.
Update: We've refreshed the Test build with another attempt to fix the aforementioned Epic issue some users are hitting. Please give it another try and let us know how you make out.
Yes, it appears our fix was not successful on the test build. We'll keep looking at it.
Well rats. So much for that idea. Thanks for the feedback gang, we'll keep poking at it. :(
There's a potential fix for this up on the Test Version - https://forums.sinsofasolarempire2.com/515191/sins-ii-hotfix-update
This is up on the Test Edition version now - https://forums.sinsofasolarempire2.com/515191/sins-ii-hotfix-update
We've updated the 'Sins of a Solar Empire II - Test Edition' on Epic with a hotfix. We hope this update will resolve issues some users have had running the game. Change Notes: THIS UPDATE IS NOT SAVE GAME COMPATIBLE! Hopefully fixes the Epic Auth Errors on game start. Fixes font face errors caused by unexpected unicode codes in user names. Hopefully fixes 'Create directory failed' crashes.
You need to click on the bottom part of the image (not the blurry top part). That's a definite bug.
From others who've hit this, it will just work at some point - but we have a potential fix we're testing that should hopefully avoid it in the future.
There are practically no new sfx in the game as yet. Just some UI and engines right now.
Main Menu -> Where it says New Game at the top of the dialog -> Right next to that.
Glad you like it so far! Just going to run down your list: -How to create a fleet? I can't keep selecting these ships to move in formation when I have 200 in a battle. Put the ships into a control group (select -> ctrl+(number)) and/or select and pin to the bookmark bar. -Love the UI style, but it is large, clunky, and with no colorful buttons (like red for attack) make it harder to quickly remember which to click. You're welcome. I had to do the same thing. :D
Known issue - it's something you'll be able to do in the future. For now, you can manually change it in \Documents\sins2_pre_alpha\settings\settings.json Change the value on row 307 (at the very bottom) to the name you want.
Heads-up that I've snuck in a player guide PDF in the game's install directory. It should be helpful in getting folks started on changes, etc.
English only for the early access period, but we plan to offer more languages on release.
You can see the Kol in my last dev diary (with the team color still on).
We have updated the textures to fix the cartoony ships (there was an error in how they were being applied). For those who still want less color, we've added an option for minimal team color which makes them more like Sins 1 style.
Windows 10/11 64-bit only. No plans for Linux and definitely no on earlier Windows versions. That said, it's entirely possible it'll eventually work on Proton, but that's a long ways off.
Welcome to the second dev diary and the first of a series of close looks at the key units of the TEC. Thirty-five years into the war, much of the TEC fleet has evolved to adapt to changing combat needs, technological advancements, and resource availability. Many ship designs have been decommissioned, some have been progressively updated, and some have had massive redesigns. While it's gone through several variants over this time, the Kol continues to be a mainstay of the TEC fleet.&nb
