As several network shows were having their finales... They're probably still smarting from "mission accomplished" pre-empting finales last May. If I understood correctly, there are 5 more speeches planned before June 30th.

We charged existing pre-orders this afternoon. You should have an email from Stardock with a link to create a Stardock.net account (same as the one used here, on WinCustomize, JoeUser, if you have ODNT, etc) and download Stardock Central. Install Stardock Central, configure with your PM serial number (included in the email) under Tools / Register Products / Games / and use the dropdown to select Political Machine from the list in there. Press
The download.com link is 4.3 when you get it, their pages haven't refreshed the descriptions yet.
If you have the build that was crashing on auto-update, you'll need to use one of the links above to refresh the install.
I've edited my comment to remove the .'s that were messing up the links. As for why we've made the beta release available, it was time. I expect we'll be talking more about it next week, but people can have a play with it over the weekend if they are so inclined.
There's also a smaller download version (without shared dll's) at http://storage.stardock.com/files/stardockcentral132_slim.exe Or the new beta for Stardock Central 2.0 (more about this later) at http://storage.stardock.com/files/sdc190_beta.exe  We think you'll like some of the changes we've begun.
And it helps if I put the file in the right place. Try now.
OK, for everyone having download problems with the single-file zip, could you take a new Stardock Central for a spin? As I expect this is mostly hitting dialup users, you may want to archive the AP you may have installed already (File menu in SDC). Now, uninstall the AP you have. :) Close SDC. Download and extract http://134.215.215.67/private/sdc131.zip over your existing sdcentral dir. Fire it up. Attempt to download the AP or Political Machine full zip's.
Has anybody tried the debug build and sent the emails?
Anybody who is having download problems, please install http://mi.stardock.com/private/sdc131_internal.exe . Start it from the "Stardock Central - DEBUG" shortcut on the desktop. Try and let it get AP. When its unhappy, right click in the debug window, Select All, and copy the text into a .txt file. Send that .txt file as an attachment to [email protected], please.
We've reproduced the AP download errors internally. Hope to have a fix Monday.
Through the time period you mention, anything to do with space or computers was pretty much "one o' dem Nerd things". And to a large extent, it was the only sci-fi pop culture that most people were aware of. It's not like someone would go out and buy The Vader Chronicles for a nerd like you, because there wasn't that mass-market of infrastructure and products for that in the 80's and early 90's (this has changed to a large extent with the success of various video game franchises, new
As is being judgemental apparently. XPDragon, either the download was corrupted somewhere along the way or (more likely) you have some leftover files in your TEMP dirs from another installer. Clean out the TEMP dirs, maybe reboot, and if necessary, close down as many other open running apps as possible. The most remote possibility is that you've got a virus that corrupts .EXE headers, but any updated virus scanner should have prevented that from getting a foothold on your sy
Xfiresoul, email [email protected] and explain that you're now having trouble with that. He's got something you can test with. And https://www.stardock.com/support will resend the latest download link to a full installer. Which isn't always the exact level on auto-update, but we try to keep it updated to the major builds for consistency. Docx, you need an updated SDC. http://storage.stardock.com/files/sdcentral_current.exe should get you set for tonight.
It's a new one from last week, yes.
Server was unhappy for a bit during the last hour. Cable got loosened while adding a new machine.
We just built our first Opteron box today (nvidia sent a nforce3 motherboard, so we couldn't very well just let it sit there in the box). Will be giving things a whirl in the coming weeks.
I think watsondurber got it. Show Pre-Release versions must be checked under the View menu or elsewhere in SDC or you wouldn't have been able to see it. The http -8 error is probably if the connection to the server failed when requesting the next chunk of a file. Already spoken with Brian about making those new error codes more descriptive. You may include the Stardock app icons, though for the sake of completeness, a little reference to them being included with permission (in a readme or something) would be appreciated.
I know you emailed sales, but for the record... You shouldn't have to repurchase anything (per the thread title). https://www.stardock.com/support will resend the latest download links and serials to the email address you ordered under. If you're getting an error like you describe above with another card on a new order, I'm guessing its the CVV code or the zip code or something. Sales can tell you.
If she refuses to recognize her peril, your role is to get her to talk to local people who are experts in dealing with this everyday. She needs to get out, but if she can't make that leap on her own, get her to talk to people who can help explain how.
Let's just say attempting to restart an IIS service can have a lovely cascade effect on other IIS services that only a swift kick to the reboot button will help. Sorry about that.
There's nothing to cancel really. You've got a stardock.net account for access to the websites, but you didn't have to purchase anything. And apparently didn't download anything either, if I'm following the account info correctly. If you really want it "gone", email [email protected] and I'll it.
Some suites aren't put together properly. For instance, the Alien Mind II one references the page where you would view its WindowBlinds skin, not download it. If you were to take apart the .suite that was assembled after it downloaded the various pieces (as opposed to the original 1K text version with just links), it likely has no WB skin in it at all. I've asked Brian to improve the error handling in Theme Manager to prevent this going forward.
They would be animated black rectangles. Still, the general approach has some merit. What if the fish were all black? Still animated, etc. But all a single color against the background...
