About to play my copy for the first time. I watched the DTOID review to get a better idea of what to expect. The same sensitive friendly fire AI issues as in Oblivion, but nothing that can't be patched/modded out. That's the only real beef I've seen anyone give this game.
But from what I've heard..it isn't much of an upgrade over oblivion. The rendering still has that dead f

Think about it. Besides, LANing always win in multiplayer. It's become more of a lost art due to laziness from developers. Just like not everything has to have a tower defense/DOTA element in it.
Anyone happen to know why all the deceleration values for ships are numbers like 9.99998 or 49.999992? If, say, such values were changed to "nice" numbers like 10 or 50, would something go haywire? I suppose in the grand scheme of things it hardly matters since .000001 is negligible...nevertheless, I'm still curious....
You can make the same argument for the damage values, as well. It's just how they

Linux evangelists tried to woo people away from Windows for years with very similar lines about how the control Microsoft had over your computer was scary and evil and bad. Unfortunately the overwhelming majority don't care. They want something that works. Steam works. As of yet, nobody has an alternative that works better in the ways that users actua
the lag is caused by the internet connection or the usual pc performance lag-cpu?
No, it's a simple matter of having less crap on the screen to increase performance. 4 to 500 ship battles are cool in concept, but not worth if it kills the gameplay.

Admittedly these days you must read the fine print to find out what you're buying into if you want to avoid DRM. For people trying to avoid Steam, Impulse has really been one of the last bastions. The fact that Gamestop has apparently capitulated doesn't bode well. For people who want to avoid Steam, the c
