Anybody can win with any of the races. It all comes down to your playstyle and maximizing it to it's fullest potential on the race you're playing.

I have Dreads from Maelstrom in my mod and the AI flat out refuses to build them (have been through NUMEROUS game sessions and trials to check out why). It's not a fleet supply issue (already checked that route). I wondered why the maelstrom mod maker set them up
I installed a mod having changed sins game-info files having pirates with their research files deleted. I started the mod with an already existing sins diplomacy 1.00. Why do the frigate role types have plenty of variables, but yet, the one for caps only have invalid and colony? Anybody know why this is? On a side note, I also noticed that if you have a nonstandard type of additional capital ship, the AI will only build it if you change the roletype to colony.

I'm not calling you a liar, I'm just saying that the claim seems hard and unlikely to have accomplished without running into some kind of problem along the way. Something still seems off. There must be some kind of environmental variable I'm not taking into account.
Do you run Sins with the ShowErrors (user.setting) option on? I find it hard to believe your claim of never having mini-dumps due to the races (that's part of the standard debugging process), but I do sympathize with the hardcodded sound limits. It was a pain doing all the editing. Plenty of other adventure and RPGs use this camera method. NWN 2 has numerous views that one can use, including, the one mentioned above.
But... the game places very hard limitations on ship/structure roles and makes it a foreseeable minidump if you deviate too much. I tried having a combo Extractor/Refinery which almost worked but failed because of engine limitations. Technically structures can't have dual roles per say either so that's out the door. Also the diplomacy tree is tough to mod too but I do plan to get at a minimum a custom
What's the problem with the camera? Works just like it should, imho.
It's a fixed camera position that is locked in place until you use the ctrl key to move it. When you use WSAD to move around, you actually move to the left/right, and not strafe/rotate the camera with the A/D keys. It's a non-traditional, and retarded control scheme for the keyboard and mouse setup. It favors usage of a gamepad.&nbsp

I have a private compilation mod I've been working on, by myself, since this last summer that is suppose to have Norlamins, Replicators, Nephilim, Plague and core races on a Distant Stars base (with progressive tweaks and serious rebalancing for my LAN group thereafter). I've been dealing with some serious bugs (recently) that actually are preventing me from running games beyond a certain point. I did have issues with the Replicators when I was putting them in (Rep. and No

I see it as adding more DRM on top of the already existing DRM. I'll repost bullet points from my argument over at the Ubi forums: -You have a separate version of the game that's made to be compliant with Steam. It's not the same build of the game when you install off of a disc (unless it uses Steamworks for the multiplayer, which most games don't). -You HAVE to use Steam to handle the updating of the game (you'll be hard pressed to find a Steam-b

Are you planning to try and differentiate the Hypercorp anymore than the TEC? Either through merged ship/structure role types or different weapon damage used? I know doing the tech would be that much harder with so many races and mods burned up.

Steam is a cancer. You should never inbuild a digital distribution platform into any game to run the multiplayer services. Sales are great, but Impulse does the same (just not as big of a library).

I wouldn't say that. Could be a list of different factors into that. Then again, Starcraft 2 didn't have an upper FPS limit when it was launched. Some bug with the main menu could actually fry your card. [e digicons]:S[/e]

I argue the game being best played through LANing. You just need a reliable mod to play on (I don't bother with vanilla due to TSOP). I know the game was built to be played on most systems. If you have friends with laptops, they could probable play it without much issue. Doesn't require much to get a session together and play. My sessions are weekly and usually burn up the whole evening (4-6 hours of gameplay). Sometimes more if we decide to waste

I will not buy the next stand alone. You guys can't even get this game balanced. The Flak/bomber damage is off. Makes em useless. I've come to realize you'll never get it right. I've played it. It's pretty good, but the camera controls kill the gameplay. I don't know why a simple chase camera was never implemented.
