I'd rather just play GalCiv myself . . . Grifman

FYI, Sencho edited the offensive sections of his post . . . so you didn't get the whole story. Grifman
Yeah, humans must be good. Evil humans would have kept the hyperdrives secret, built huge fleets out of Sol system, and then appeared over every alien homeworld :) As you say, end of story :) Grifman
One thing, let's not stoop to MOO3 bashing here. As Frogboy has said, let's keep the focus on GalCiv. And I want to say another thing of a more personal nature. After I got the beta, there were some things I thought the game was missing. For whatever reason that possessed me, I (in many ways I think presumptously) emailed Brad, telling him the issues/problems I had with the game. I really didn't know what to expect in terms of a response - I still feel like it was sort of dumb for m
Why? I paid more for Drengin.net. And I didn't say others wouldn't get upgrades - Brad has said they would. I just think Drengin.net subscribers will get access to more. Grifman
There's more to the differences than that - it's just been several years since I played SEIV. The games are different, and the ebb and flow is different. There's more than just lining up features on a page and comparing them. Grifman
It's really silly. I like GalCiv - and I was looking forward to MOO3 until the problems came out. I can't get enough of TB 4X space empire games myself. I've never understood the need to attack something to make me feel better about a choice I made. Grifman
I think there will be some upgrades to GalCiv that only Drengin.net subscribers will get in the future. Grifman
Well, he's welcome to do what he wants on the MOO3 forum, but why come here and bash GalCiv? Does it worry him that much that it might be as good or better? Grifman
1) SEIV has ship design and tactical combat, GalCiv doesn't 2) Having played GalCiv and SEIV, I'd say GalCiv has a much better AI Been awhile since I've played SEIV, but other than that, I think they are pretty similar, as many space 4x games are. Grifman
Hey, Ed, get that chip off your shoulder, it's causing you to think in an "unbalanced" manner :) Grifman
Damn, I've created my own worst enemy! Grifman
I'm in a position to win without a war. Location/luck of the draw is key. Had a great position in a corner with some room to expand. Been just a steady build up. I've used my tech/money lead to subsidize the Drengin and Acereans in their wars against the Altarians and Torians - the other race - can't remember, apparently got eliminated early on. I'm trying to keep the galaxy balanced among the other powers while I decide to go which type of victory to go for. I'm close to getting through t
Hehehe, I got real laugh the other night. I rescued some civ on the other side of the galaxy from a planetary disaster, guess it pushed me over to the "light" and heavenly sounding music came on, and my interface changed to a creamy white color! I thought I had died and gone to heaven. I had seen the "evil" interface, but never the "good" interface and I cracked up laughing. Especially because after that I started subsidizing the "evil" Drengin in their war against the "good" Altarians :)<br
Great, an option to control star densities. I love it - thanks for the additional option! Grifman
No communism - we've figured out by the end of the 20th century it doen't work, so why would the future try to implement the failed policies of the past? :) Grifman
Not talking specifically about the metaverse, but I save and reload because time is limited. Maybe if I had unlimited time to play the game, I could accept the fact that a particular game is lost, but with limited time, I can't do that. I don't do this on minor, even significant setbacks, but if I am losing I do use the save and reload option. I don't reload if planets are lost, but if I am at a strategic dead end that would kill the game for me. What I usually end up doing is trea
Well, the answer is sort of. There is a tech called this, but there is no tech that will take a class 5 planet and make it a class 15 or 16. All planet upgrades are incremental to the current planet status. Grifman
Don't be jerkoff, TheHamster. I'm playing the latest build, I paid my money - I don't like being accused of stealing by someone who doesn't have the facts. That said, I think my machine had a bunch of crap going on in the background. I started the game application over and my problems went away. Seems ok now. Grifman

I've also gotten 3 random CTD in this latest game. Grifman
The Non-Aligned Worlds is largely dependent upon keeping your planetary morale up - and the same with the AI's. The Acerons' did a poor job in my last game, lost 3 or 4 worlds - none of the other civs did. I lost a couple playing sloppily, but soon reconquered them :) Alot can be dependent upon your difficulty level and whatever situation you/AI gets itself into. Grifman
Been playing the largest galaxy, gigantic, I think, and late in the game, it is really chugging. Movement is slow, erratic, and my music has stopped playing for some reason. Some units which I need to move don't activate - they appear on the screen but just sit there - the "activation blue halo" never appears around them. I've got an AMD 1400 Ghz, with 256 MB of RAM, which should be plenty to run the game. Grifman
A slider bar doesn't make make sense, nor would it be easy to implement. For example, what would one more pixel of difficulty mean? Does the AI develop it planets more poorly, or trade tech more stupidly, or what? You can create broad categories of rules and algorithms for "dumb", "average", "smart", etc. but how they heck do you decide what one more pixel, or one or two more percentage of intelligence really is? How how do you tell that you got it right unless you play multiple games at eve
Can we get the manual and maybe other parts of the encyclopedia as a downloadable PDF file or something like that? There are certain parts I may want to print out. Thanks. Grifman
