I prefer #1, as it introduces no bias against players with less real time for playing or who simply prefer to take longer in game time to play it out. As for ties, I don't see them being a problem, especially across multiple rounds. Has anyone yet suggested coming up with a "season", say six rounds, where we determine a champion and then start over?
is there a 'league cocktail lounge' or something like there, where to we could shunt our irreverance?
I think the thread you are talking about is in the Core; take [link="http://www.thegalacticcore.com/forum/index.php?s=c0c03bd433971c4331f03795053c8692&showforum=137"]this link[/link] to the League area, then scroll down to the pinned thread called "The League Club", specifically for your trash-talking needs.
There seems to be many rumours of many players leaving the league.
I should clarify what I said in the other thread - I am definitely on board for round 4, and I think the draft proposal above sounds like a good way to get things back on track. My issues are really time and perspective. Time, because I'm taking on a new job and because I came home after seven days without a computer to realize I've been spending way too much time in front of the screen.
Thanks, guys - it is still the same organization, and former Pres. Carter is still an outspoken advocate. It's the one kind of charitable work I really feel called to do, and I feel it makes a deep and lasting impact on both the homeowners and on the volunteers. I've been involved both with local affiliates and week-long builds farther away for a few years now, and there are also international initiatives. You can read more about it on the [link="http://www.habitat.org/"]HfH Web site[/link].<br/
This is an unpleasant surprise to come back to after a long break. Spending a week building homes for hurricane victims and breaking out of my routine has already rearranged my priorities considerably, and this thread is like icing on the cake. That said, I still plan to remain B Team captain and participate for at least the next round, but right now I'm a bit soured on gaming and on the MVL in particular.
megachu, anybody - Ah say, anybody - who claims to hate Southerners must be at least a little bit evil by definition. Bunch a' cahpetbaggin' yankees cain't be up to no good. An' besides that, stealin' neilo's Torian ale when there was a pufec'ly good bottle of Jack Daniels right next to it just goes to show these nawtherners' bad taste in general. Of course, Ah appropriated the whiskey so as to keep it out of their unappreciative hands. Ah enjoyed the greater part of it, then poured out the rest
+ FIX Capped the number of possible stars in a randomly generated galaxy (ie not a custom map) to be 300, which should help with the memory problems. That won't affect gameplay in the smaller galaxy sizes I tend to play, but it sounds like it could be a big change for huge and gigantic galaxies. Is there any way to make this an optional feature?
Butterfly. I have left my main character with the Gerotocracy and am currently playing as Cruella with the Evil Ones. I did the same with my original empire, the HCH. My old character remains there while my newest character plays for the Tyranny. Meanwhile, I brought my oldest character out of retirement to play my League games for the Gerontocracy. <img src="http://img473.imageshack.us/img
Attention Bladerunners - Captain taking a brief shore leave next week. (I posted the same thing in the team forum.) I am going to be offline from October 13-21 for a week-long Habitat for Humanity build. That week will mark the end of Round 3 and (I assume) the beginning of Round 4. I expect you to perform with utmost professionalism, bravery, and, you know, stuff like that in my absence. There may be some shuffling of players between rounds - I'd like to thank any players we m
Why was I unable to request that the Arceans or Terrans declare war on the other civilizations? It could be that they have lower military ratings than the races you are fighting. Try doing it the other way around - make peace with one of your enemies and try to convince them to attack the Terrans or Arceans. Also, you may need to back off from the huge hulls. Design a large hull with nothing but a few engines and a crapload of torpedos (not the
the Korx Survey ship got stuck over an anomaly? I haven't tried out the beta yet, so I don't know what your original issue might have been; but I have seen this one many times. I'm pretty sure it happens when an AI ship on autosruvey jumps through a wormhole into a space containing an anomaly. It doesn't know that it needs to leave the square and go back in to get the anomaly. The best part of this is when a bunch of AI survey ships cluster arou
We currently don't have an option to not center on the ship that you select. This has always been the case. Centering on autoselect is a good idea, because it's possible the selected ship isn't currently on screen. I have always wished for a way to disable centering when I click on a ship, however. I find it distracting and disorienting to have to click something, wait for the galaxy to stop sliding past, then perform the action I want.
One thing that could be causing your morale problems is population. The more population a planet has, the more its approval rate will drop. Are you building farms? If so, stop. Never build a farm on your home planet, and only build one on other planets. If you put some of your racial ability points into morale and keep your populations under 16 billion, you should never even need to build a morale building. As for building strategies, the best advice I have is, don't build on all of you
A few times, I have had ships blunder into an asteroid field. On the following turn, they will get their full movement point allowance, even if they're in Yor space . On the turn after that, they get 1 movement point. Afterwards, they behave normally.
The game I submitted last night may have helped a little... I find that the most challenging thing about this game can sometimes be just finding time to play it. I'm kind of tired of the small galaxy setting, though; I may ramp back up to medium for the next game and take the Thalans for a change. I need a better name fo
I think it was 'zillions'. I was thinking that myself when I first saw this thread, but I wasn't sure anybody would know what the heck I was talking about. Yes, that was from the real Starship Troopers, the book; not that pale shadow of the story portrayed in the movie.
I haven't seen this before, but you may be able to make it work to your advantage. Try to get some of the other races to go to war with the Altarians, preferably starting with a race whose borders are close to the current location of the killer ship. Let it take out lots of other AI fleets, then take the Altarians' planets while the killer is elsewhere. <img src="http://amcore
I am wondering if the problem is really sneak attack or if the problem is the inability for the AI to successfully defend its planets when war breaks because its orbiting ships are sitting ducks waiting to be shot and its inability to launch fleet to intercept incoming fleet? That's similar to the point I was making earlier. In my current game, for example, the biggest, baddest thug AI empire had at least one battleship or dreadnought orbiting every one
JUST STOP SQUIRMING AND TAKE YOUR SURE DEFEAT LIKE MEN AND NOT MICE Sounds like the kind of thing Kona says when he's down to one planet and I open up the diplomatic screen...
I would like someone from the Crusaders to PM me Being that it's Friday, it sounds like most of your teammates will probably be long into a three-day bender by now. Hopefully one of them will rouse himself from his drunken stupor long enough to check in. Actually, you could probably send Mumblefratz a PM and get a pretty quick reply. The rest of
I agree with allowing new players to join existing teams in the middle of the round. For one, we are really still just getting this League started, and mixing things up a little bit now will help us plan better for future rounds while allowing everyone to participate from the get-go. Neilo, I am probably going to be unavailable this weekend - if the Sorting Hat drops a player into the Bladerunners, please do the honors and welcome them for me. Forum password, secret handshake, show them
That arena is awesome ! A little crazy goes a long way when you're creating evil-looking structures. Neilo, I think the Tyranny of Evil should lend our friend BoogieBac a few fembots for the duration of this project...
Purge, I've taken a look through almost all of your savegames. Very interesting, and educational to see that much activity going down in three game years. I would just like to ask you two questions. What factors go into your decision to build additional factories on a planet? And what do you do, if anything, if you steal advanced farming technologies?
I do something similar, though I add: Galactic Warfare (MP+10%) Space Militarization (MP+10%) Mass Driver Theory OR Missile Weapon Theory (cheapest weapons in the game, early military rating boost) Universal Translator - you mentioned this earlier in your post, but it's important to start pimping out your techs early if you have tech trading on
Again, Why? By the same analogy that you've stated why penalize players that are perfectly happy with suicidal as currently implemented. Let those that have become bored or otherwise find suicidal beneath them play at a higher level but there are many that find suicidal plently challenging enough. I actually agree with this. I was going on the assumption that the powers that be were unhappy with the current state of Suicidal gaming and were look
