I've never had to reply to my own thread to get it to show up, are you posting through SDC or a web browser?

side note, why do I have a message that says I must wait ** seconds before I can post? Have I been punished or something? Some forums prevent you from making two posts in rapid succession. Some forums even overdo it just a bit. And then there are some which overdo it a lot.

I've spent hours playing through a gigantic galaxy with 6 other races all set to "normal". Now I get to the end, and...nothing happens! No score in the metaverse, nothing coming up anywhere. wtf is up with that?

Some people here even end sentences with prepositions. That is something up with which I will not put! "Yes, decided. Disagree with that decision, I must." - Yoda

I'm assuming you mean 1024x768, which is the "standard" minimum resolution for Windows now. You can get XP 1 notch lower to 800x600 but it's extremely difficult to work with. Having played GC2 at various resolutions from 1024x768 all the way to 2048x1536, I can't see how it would be even possible to play at any lower res than 1024x768. Honestly, if you have a computer that can even play GC2, get a video card and monitor that can do at least

FOGL Someone's been watching way too many Disney movies. A bug is a bug, and nothing more than a bug, just an unintended result in a computer program that causes it to work differently than the programmer(s) intended. As for the "more than one of a singular building" bug, well, that just needs a little tweak to the AI. One possible solution would be a routine that, once per turn, reviews the items already built on every

Yes, the game is very sensitive to things that try to take over window focus, expecially when it's busy trying to process something. Yes, this is a big problem that eneds to be resolved. But I have to ask one question: why do you have automatic updates turned on for anything, and if you really need them, why do you not have them set for silent updating? I have automatic everything turned off in Windows, Norton Anti-Virus (still aut

The smaller the map, though, the scarcer the resources. I would suggest a medium or smaller map with lots of "smart" enemies, if you want a challenge without any inherent production cheats.

I have no trouble winning cultural victories, and though I haven't cranked it up to a particularly difficult level, I most certainly am not running at a beginner or "terribly easy" difficulty level. It takes a little tightening of the screws on your populace, and running on the bleeding edge a lot of the time, but if you can keep track of all the details and ride the curl (sorry, surfing metaphor but very appropriate) it can be done. The only thing I h

This is for Stardock staff to answer only, please: There are no .cra or .dmp files on my system that were created by any program other than Dr. Watson or Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri (I know this because they are in the Dr Watson and Alpha Centauri folders). Where are they supposed to be? Where is this "zip" file supposed to be? SmartException refers to some zip file it has put on my system somewhere but I can'

Twice in the last half an hour I have had two events occur which never took effect. This is the latest beta (1.10(b4).016), and the game was started after it was downloaded and installed through SDC. 1) Galactic Council voted on who would get a planet that had recently become habitable, but it never showed up on the map, in my planets list (I won of course, because I am so damn good ), o

There are no reserves technically. Just unspent capital, Reserves = your treasury, anything unspent by a government goes into reserves/treasury to be used later, for example to rush-buy buildings or spacecraft later, or to allow you to run at a deficit if you need to later in the game. That

If your planets are growing along with their buildings, your approval rating might be going down, adn that will have a negative impact on your production. If you find approval low on many planets, reduce your tax rate or build a galaxy-wide morale improvement; if it is only a few planets, build morale-boosting local improvement.

One quote from my Marketing teacher during my MBA: Here's something else someone else said: Those who can't do, teach. Anything in a field like marketing is completely subjective, and subject to trends and styles. However, the ad doesn't break the "short attention span" rule-of-thumb anyway

It's called brand recognition. Dell makes gaming rigs that are every bit as good as Alienware's, but people don't see Dell as a manufacturer of gaming PCs, so they changed their strategy and bought a recognized leader (if not THE leader) in high-performance gaming rigs.

Save the info in a file for later. I get the same problem when I create a desgin with the same name as a design that I have deleted, it asks me if I want to make a design with a name that already exists. Strangely, the first ship I build with that name on *every* planet builds the old ship. Once * one * of that ship has been built, I can change the currently "building" ship in every shipyard to the new one, but I cannot avoid building the fi

Yep, there are a lot of things that haven't bee explored in GC2, but that's what these forums are all about - suggesting and discussing the merits of improvements to the game. I would love to see more specialized weapons, like beams that are devastating at close range but damage drops off exponentially as the distance to the target increases, weapons that have to be used at a certain minimum range from the target or you risk damaging your ow

There are so many problems with the so-called "tactical display" of combat that I just skip it now. having played Wing Commander and various other tactical combat games for so many years, it's just terrible to watch ships milling about aimlessly, weapons maintaining a straight line while their targets go off in another direction yet still get hit by the missile/mass-driver projectile which is nowhere near the target when it "hits", and so on. About the
